80: Don't tell your child about their talents!

Special Talent.

The System had announced it when the Children were born; Ao Ao's mutation gene—Shadow Wolf.

It seemed it might be a Talent for moving and hiding in the shadows?

But Tu Nan didn't need that much attention, and neither did the Children.

When she was planning to find a way to extricate herself, too much attention would only make it harder for her to move. But how should she explain this to Lisa now?

"Shh!" She gave Lisa and Owen a look. "Wait for me a moment, I'll go soothe the Children first."

Tu Nan moved the two little ones back into the room and spoke to them solemnly.

"Ao Ao is great, and Miao Miao is great too. Mommy loves you very much. But for now, can you wait for me while I talk to Auntie Lisa about some serious business? Play by yourselves for a bit, and don't use that skill from just now, okay?"

She specifically told Ao Ao: "Do you remember the promise we made? We have to keep our special abilities hidden."

Both felt like they had caused trouble, but since their mother didn't blame them, they obediently agreed to Tu Nan's request.

Tu Nan closed the door, her mind racing, before turning to face Lisa and her son.

"Is this a special Talent?" She forced a smile, not looking particularly excited.

Lisa didn't understand. Tu Nan wasn't happy about her Children's excellent Talent? That was impossible; every parent hoped their Children would be successful.

"Why do you... look unhappy?" Lisa frowned.

Tu Nan sighed deeply, sank into her chair, and buried her face in her hands. It was a long while before she looked up.

"You don't understand... Li is currently entangled with that Sheng Ranran."

Lisa was stunned and blinked.

How should she put it... actually, the military dependents had their suspicions; there weren't many secrets in this residential area. That Young Miss was always blocking Li at the intersection, and everyone had watched as Li went from refusing her at first to appearing in Sheng Ranran's small courtyard.

Rumors were circulating in private, though no one had said anything to Tu Nan's face. She hadn't expected Tu Nan to actually know everything.

She said awkwardly, "Oh, you... you know... but Male Beasts are all pretty much the same."

"Besides, since the Children are promising, you should just tell Li and have him settle down. With a child like Ao Ao, what more could he be dissatisfied with!" Lisa grew angrier as she spoke.

Li was going too far. Tu Nan had given up her comfortable life to follow Li through hardships and even bore his Children. Now that life was finally getting better, this Male Beast was starting to have a change of heart?

"It's not that simple."

Tu Nan looked at Owen. "Owen, if you're going to listen, can you promise Auntie not to tell anyone about this? It concerns the safety of me and the Children." Her attitude was formal, treating Owen entirely like an adult.

Feeling the formality, Owen jumped up and swore that unless the beast god descended, he would never Spread what he heard.

With a distant look in her eyes, Tu Nan finally told the whole story.

"What the Sheng Family promised Li is the position of the future Family head." She combined the information she had gathered with her own speculations.

Tu Nan curled her lip. "He thinks I don't know, but that Arena Tournament of the Sheng Family is only open to members of the Family. On what basis is Li participating? If he keeps fighting, isn't it because he plans to marry Sheng Ranran later?"

Lisa was truly shocked! "What! He even plans to make you give up your position?"

Tu Nan's gaze was sorrowful.

"Who knows? I didn't ask. The Children are still young... I always thought I couldn't let them grow up without a father."

"But the Sheng Family's background isn't clean."

"If they were just two ordinary Children, they might not do anything. But if my Children have extraordinary Talent, would they worry about future changes and strike early?"

"When the Two Children are a bit older, if we can't make it work, at most I'll take them home. But for now... I won't let the Children take that risk!"

"I'm going to hide it even from Li! Help me! Lisa, Owen! I beg you!"

The mother and son were dumbfounded.

Especially Lisa; she had thought Tu Nan knew nothing and had been holding it in painfully. Who would have thought that Tu Nan not only knew but had also thought so much and so far ahead... She suddenly slapped her thigh and cursed loudly.

"These Male Beasts! They really deserve to die! Alright, Tu Nan, how long have you been thinking about this? Why didn't you tell me anything!"

She walked up to Tu Nan with a fierce Aura, looked at her for a moment, and pulled the thin Female Beast, who was pretending to be strong, into her embrace.

"Don't worry, I'm definitely on your side. I will never say a word."

"But in my opinion, you can't just let Li and that Sheng Ranran mess around like this. Wait, I'll go talk to Li Na as well. We'll all work together; that kind of Female Beast should be made so she can't stay in this area anymore."

Even the young boy Owen was nodding repeatedly on the side.

That's right, Tu Nan was so good; she was gentle and kind, not only to her own Children but also to those like them who often caused trouble, she never showed Life Qi.

He was going to join his classmates in throwing stink bombs into Sheng Ranran's courtyard!

Tu Nan just shook her head.

"No... I don't want you to intervene. I only want a pure Li. If... he chooses Sheng Ranran himself and gives up on me and the Children. Then I..."

"What's the point of forcing him to stay by my side? I want a husband who belongs to me completely, a Family of my own."

"I don't want a relationship that is just settling."

Hearing this, Lisa's tears were about to fall.

"Why must you suffer so, sigh... you are..."

She didn't know what to say. She felt that what she wanted to say was very contradictory, yet she always wanted to persuade Tu Nan again, perhaps simply because—she didn't know any other way of life.

"Life is too hard when you think too much... sigh."

Tu Nan remained silent.

As the two adults and one child stood in the courtyard, a silent awkwardness began to Spread.

Until Gaia hurriedly stepped into the small courtyard, breaking the silence.

"Tu Nan, you didn't answer the comms?" Gaia asked.

Tu Nan then noticed that several communications had been missed. She looked at Gaia with an inquiring gaze.

Gaia spoke hurriedly: "I just got the news. The Star Worms attack from a few days ago affected the Asylum."

"Many patients escaped, and as soon as I found out, I made some inquiries."

He glanced at Lisa, hesitated for a moment, and told Tu Nan cryptically.

"Fiona... is missing."

What?

Tu Nan was shocked.
