57: Someone kicked the door

Kong Jiamu had just stepped out of the station when he stopped; Sergeant Song Jie didn't make him wait long and quickly caught up.

"Dallying." He tied up his curly hair and let out a cold sneer, looking like he was ready for a big fight.

"Colonel Kong... I think..."

"Stop nagging, lead the way." He impatiently interrupted his subordinate.

Sergeant Song Jie was serious but stubborn. So what... what if that woman was a noble Young Miss? He, Kong Jiamu, the Young Master of the Kong Family from the Emperor Star, had nothing to fear.

If that Female Beast had an affair with someone else behind his back, he wouldn't be Life Qi at all.

He even wanted to see what kind of extraordinary woman would be willing to give him up.

But she actually dared to treat Hain like this?

Hmm?

Then don't blame him for being ruthless.

With a cold snort, he regained his disdainful attitude, slightly raising his chin as he followed the reluctant Sergeant Song Jie toward the courtyard where Tu Nan and the others lived.

Meanwhile, on Tu Nan's side, Li was planning to go hunting with the hunting party organized by the neighbors.

Their target was actually the Black-Scaled Snake that Li had previously wanted to get for Tu Nan's nourishment.

Tu Nan only later learned that most of these neighbors were middle to Advanced officers in the local garrison; the strongest Sentinels of Mata Star were probably all on this planet.

Therefore, these non-commissioned officers were all burly and looked like they could fight well.

Tu Nan handed two large lunch boxes to Li and Gaia, earning good-natured teasing from the soldiers.

Just as Ken had teased Gaia before, they teased Li for not only winning the favor of a "noble Young Miss" but also getting her to cook for him.

"Miss Tu Nan, what delicious food have you prepared for Li today? You make us crave it every day, making the food our wives cook at home lose its fragrance."

Several Female Beasts who had also come out to see them off pinched their husbands hard in resentment.

Tu Nan saw this but didn't talk to those Male Beasts, only modestly praising the other Females.

"Your wives all have unique skills. If they hadn't been willing to teach me, I wouldn't even have known to chop the tendons before roasting meat."

She signaled Li to lower his head, took out a hair tie, and helped him tie his slightly long hair into a small bun, then quickly and discreetly pecked him on the lips.

Tu Nan stepped back with a smile, looking at the new hairstyle she had arranged for Li with satisfaction.

Li's gaze was fierce, looking like he really wanted to carry this reckless Female Beast back into the house, but since it was said that hunting the Black-Scaled Snake only happened once a month, he had to let Tu Nan go resentfully.

Tu Nan then instructed Gaia: "Your brother's injuries haven't healed yet, keep an eye on him."

That's right, Gaia's current identity was Li's younger brother. Since they both had canine bloodlines, it was plausible.

Otherwise, the three of them living together would easily lead to speculation.

Tu Nan didn't want that much attention.

"Ha, you're still worried about Li? In my opinion, even if everyone here were buried in the mouth of a Black-Scaled Snake, he would be fine, hahahahaha."

The man's laughter was cut short by a sharp rap on the head from his wife.

The environment of this small courtyard was really suitable for them; most were military personnel, so security was excellent. The neighbors were also very hearty, and after Li participated in their hunting activities for the first time, he won everyone's respect with his superb martial prowess.

They even wanted to recommend him to join the army.

Tu Nan watched all this with a smile.

She had been eating very well lately, in every sense. Her identity here was Li's wife, and everyone was very friendly to her; her life in this world had finally gotten on track.

It was so peaceful... she almost forgot the System's countdown.

[Remaining survival time: 980 days]

Conspicuous, eye-piercing.

It had been floating at the edge of her vision.

Decreasing daily.

"Is it that area?" Kong Jiamu asked Sergeant Song Jie.

He pointed his chin toward a cluster of small courtyards ahead. "You're quite good at finding places. Letting her live here? Is she worthy?" He snorted coldly again and again.

Sergeant Song Jie had grievances he couldn't voice.

This superior, Kong Jiamu... was actually very generous and righteous; soldiers without backgrounds like them liked him very much.

Following him, one never had to worry about him taking credit that belonged to them; he had even helped a subordinate reach a rank equal to his own.

This was why, despite being so arrogant and difficult, everyone could still follow him without complaint... well, not entirely without complaint.

For example, right now, he really felt that Colonel Kong had misunderstood Miss Tu Nan.

If not for true love, which noble woman would give up Mr. Hain and choose that cold-faced Li? Although he admitted Li was also very powerful... he couldn't compare at all to a high noble like Hain, who was about to reach S-rank.

Sergeant Song Jie had a cold face but was worried inside.

He could only watch as Kong Jiamu swaggered to the gate of the courtyard and kicked the door open like a bully.

"Who is it?" Since Li and Gaia weren't there, Tu Nan was dressed very lightly at home. When the door was kicked open, she first had to go to the inner room to grab a piece of clothing.

Tu Nan wasn't too worried in her heart.

Making trouble in this area? The neighbors would naturally teach this brainless punk a lesson.

She put on her clothes and then pushed open the door to go out.

But she only saw the courtyard gate swinging wide open, with no one at the entrance.

Frowning, she realized something was wrong. Cautiously clutching her bracelet, she leaned toward the door to peek out.

The street was empty, with no one in sight.

The door of the opposite courtyard opened a crack, and a half-grown boy peeked his head out stealthily. Seeing Tu Nan come out, his eyes immediately curved into a smile.

"Owen, did you see anyone? What happened?" With such a loud noise, why didn't anyone come out to help... this wasn't like the character of these neighbors.

The wives of these soldiers were all exceptionally fierce; surrounding and attacking a punk who came to the door was no problem for them.

"Shh!" Owen's eyes were nimble as he looked left and right in a practiced manner, then beckoned to Tu Nan.

Tu Nan was puzzled.

Owen kept signaling her to lean in. When Tu Nan finally leaned over, he whispered the secret.

"It was Colonel Kong from the Patrol Army just now!" He winked and told her secretly.

"My mom said it's not convenient for her to show up, so she told me to tell you." This meant he was a child, so it wouldn't matter if he let it slip.

"She wants you to think about where you offended that Devil King. She said..." Owen mimicked his mother's tone vividly, "Don't believe that Showy Peacock's sweet words; my cousin was coaxed by him until she almost committed suicide."

Tu Nan was stunned.

Why was it Kong Jiamu? Why did he come to kick her door?

Is it... that he's unwilling to rent the courtyard to her anymore? Then he could have just said so. Or... did he discover Li's identity?

That didn't make sense either; if he was going to know, he would have known long ago. It's been over half a month; what does he mean by coming to pick a fight now?

Owen was still looking at her expectantly, waiting for a reply.

Tu Nan felt it was a bit funny; Owen's mother was truly worried about women's chastity. But she certainly didn't expect that when Tu Nan gave birth to the Children in her belly...

Whether she would go to Hain.

Or go to Kong Jiamu nearby.

It was hard to say.
