89: Let me guess his preferences

For Tu Nan, waking up meant everything behind her was frozen in yesterday.

She sent a message to Hain.

After all, she would likely end up by Hain's side again, so she couldn't just vanish completely.

"I'm fine. It just so happens that a Hongtu Aviation flight is docked at Sand Star. Huai En and I are already on board, and I'm about to start a new life. Once I find myself again, I'll definitely contact you. Thank you for tolerating my impulsiveness. I appreciate your help and wish you all the best."

That was that for now.

What filled her mind now was how to trap that Peacock on the spaceship.

She pondered while washing and dressing the two little ones, who were still getting used to their Childhood Stage bodies.

Kong Jiamu had expressed interest in her at the last banquet. And for a playboy like him, a confined journey like this was exactly when he'd be idle and relaxed.

So, logically speaking, it wouldn't be hard to have a "story" with him.

The hard part was what came next.

First, she had to steal his "seed."

She had already heard plenty of gossip about Kong Jiamu from Lisa, including stories about Lisa's cousin.

Many Female Beasts had tried to keep him using Children, but none had succeeded; he didn't seem like the type to settle down for anyone.

But he was an open scumbag; he always laid his intentions bare and never tried to deceive a Female Beast's feelings, which only made those women love and hate him even more.

Besides, in one month... would she really be able to successfully conceive?

Kong Jiamu better not be all show and no substance... Tu Nan was somewhat uncertain. Forget it, if the System chose someone like him, it would really be digging a grave for her. Surely, it wouldn't go that far?

In any case, Tu Nan needed a suitable persona to make him lower his guard, and she couldn't let him get bored immediately after getting what he wanted.

Moreover, it was still unknown whether the child's genes would require more effort from him.

Continuously holding onto a playboy.

And then being able to smoothly discard him around the time the child was born?

Tu Nan pressed her hand to her forehead.

The more she thought about it, the more scummy it sounded. Could she really do it?

Even if Kong Jiamu wasn't a good man, he was still a Male Beast.

Let's solve the immediate problems first. First up: shopping.

Clothes make the man!

Tu Nan pulled the two little ones over one by one and kissed their fragrant cheeks.

"Ao Ao, Mommy is going to take Miao Miao for a stroll first. Why don't you stay in the room, eat, and watch TV?"

Tu Nan handed him the remote.

"Okay." Ao Ao turned on the Starry Sky Exploration Channel, something new and interesting he'd discovered last night.

[I'm the big brother, I can be alone.]

[Ao Ao... then I won't go either.] Miao Miao was conflicted.

"It'll be your brother's turn later. Come on, Mommy will carry you." Tu Nan picked up the girl, who was rarely this considerate, and headed to the Shopping Gallery.

"Wrap these up and have them sent to my room... Also, can this one be altered urgently?"

Tu Nan asked, holding up a pale gold dress.

"How would you like it altered? It might not turn out perfectly."

"Hmm... it's not complicated. Never mind, I'll draw it for you." Tu Nan used a marker to make simple marks on the dress. "Here, cut this part out like this..."

Ignoring the saleslady's forced professional smile, Tu Nan reflected her intentions directly onto the garment.

"Expedite it, okay?" Tu Nan smiled and tapped her bracelet against the two salesclerks' bracelets, which then displayed a surprising amount.

It was indeed a generous tip.

"Of course, we'll have someone alter it immediately and send it to your room shortly."

After wandering around the flight for a good while, Tu Nan finally returned to her room to start getting ready.

The Captain would invite everyone to the welcome banquet for this voyage tonight. As the Young Master of the Kong Family, Kong Jiamu wouldn't fail to show his Face at an event held by his own group.

She had to find him tonight.

***

When the melodious sounds of the live band echoed in the Central Hall at 8:00 PM, the moment Tu Nan had been waiting for arrived.

Tu Nan had found a spot on the second floor early on where she could overlook the entire scene, allowing her to see everyone entering the hall clearly.

Men and women in fine attire appeared in pairs, while the Captain, dressed in uniform, greeted everyone.

But... the wine in her glass had turned completely warm, and the Captain had begun his toast, yet she still hadn't seen the person who was supposed to appear.

Was it actually different from what she had imagined?

Did he really not care about the Family business at all? Tu Nan felt a headache coming on.

Setting her glass on the coffee table, she leaned back into the sofa wearily. Just as she was closing her eyes to figure out her next move—whether to bribe a few waiters for a chance to wait by Kong Jiamu's door, or... "Ah... found you." A lazy, elegant voice appeared behind Tu Nan.

Tu Nan's eyes snapped open. A slender hand holding a wine glass was held out near her Face.

"This kind of wine turns sour once the temperature rises. Shall I get you a fresh glass?" Tu Nan looked up to see Kong Jiamu standing behind her with a smile.

He flicked his wrist, signaling Tu Nan to take the glass. A hint of a smile crossed Tu Nan's lips as she turned her right hand palm up, signaling for the Male Beast to hand the glass to her.

Kong Jiamu raised an eyebrow and didn't refuse.

So, Tu Nan leaned back lazily on the sofa, holding the crystal-clear wine glass in one hand, her whole body stretched out on the long couch.

Unlike last time, her black hair wasn't loose but was piled loosely on top of her head, her green eyes looking at him with pure defiance.

"Your ears... they don't look like decorations? Why did the cat ears suddenly pop out? They weren't there last time." Kong Jiamu sounded rather regretful.

What did he mean by that? Tu Nan was surprised. Could Kong Jiamu... "Hmm... are all Cat Beastkin as changeable as you? Last time you were a lily under the moonlight, this time..." Kong Jiamu sat opposite her, his long legs also stretched out casually.

He toasted Tu Nan from across the space, tilted his head back, and after a sip, savored it for a moment.

"Truly a breathtaking beauty."

He actually recognized her? Tu Nan's heart skipped a beat, but she steadied herself, taking the opportunity to patch her persona. She followed Kong Jiamu's lead with a cold sneer.

"No matter how beautiful, it can't stop a husband's footsteps in search of pleasure." She bitterly drained the wine in her glass and wiped her lips with the back of her hand, staining it with bright lipstick.

Tu Nan stared blankly at that smear of red and suddenly asked Kong Jiamu, "Do you Male Beasts always betray promises of eternity?"

Kong Jiamu studied the Female Beast through his wine glass.

Oh dear, another poor soul who's been hurt. Asking him this question... "I wouldn't know about that. After all, I never give promises of eternity in the first place." Kong Jiamu shrugged and said sincerely, "So, I never betray them."

That's right, you're a universally acknowledged scumbag, the straightforward kind.

Tu Nan glared at Kong Jiamu for a long while before suddenly saying stiffly, "Blue Pearl."

Kong Jiamu was slightly stunned for a moment but immediately understood that this was her name.

She was answering his question from last time.

He still remembered the previous answer: "I am a married woman."

So, what about now?

Tu Nan sneered, clearly having thought of the last time as well. She added, "Just consider my husband dead. At least... for now, I consider myself a widow."

Oh, how interesting.

Kong Jiamu finished the wine in his glass in one gulp.

"Then... my poor lady, may I have this dance?"

He stood up and offered a polite invitation.

"Let us mourn your late husband."
