141: The Attack of the Abyss Church
A sixth-rank Light Knight reported the massacre by these demons to the Light Church, prompting the Light Church to send the Temple Knight Order to investigate.
The Temple Knight Order arrived at the attacked church, only to find it still operating normally.
This sight surprised the Knight Order Leader; the Light Knight who had narrowly escaped insisted that everyone there had been killed earlier.
The Knight Order Leader quickly surrounded the entire church and brought everyone under control.
With his peak sixth-rank strength, combined with this Knight Order whose lowest strength was fourth-rank, it was enough to suppress all resistance.
Subsequently, the Knight Order Leader conducted individual inspections and interrogations of everyone in the church.
The interrogation results showed no abnormalities; there were no signs of their consciousness or memories being corrupted or tampered with.
However, the Knight Order Leader keenly sensed that something was amiss; there was no fanatical worship of light in their eyes.
To uncover the truth, he directly used torture on a monk.
The monk never divulged anything valuable under torture, until he fell into a berserk state during the torment.
The deranged demon-person transformed directly and attempted to attack these Knights.
Unfortunately, he was cut down by the Knight Order Leader's sword.
The Knight Order Leader then ordered all members within the church to be detained and sent back to the Light Church headquarters.
The Light Church attached great importance to this situation of 'stealing beams and pillars,' specifically arranging for the Tribunal to investigate and resolve this incident.
The Tribunal dared not delay, and researched these 'corrupted' church members overnight.
They discovered that these members had completely lost their Light Power, and the Light God spells they had once used effortlessly could not be cast at all.
It must be known that although there is no Light God now, making it impossible to pray to him for divine spells, the Pope of the Light Church is a Light Apostle who has survived since the Age of Gods, the strongest being below the gods, and currently the leader on the path of light.
All the followers within the Light Church were granted Light God spells by him, yet no one in this particular church could use divine spells.
This discovery was naturally quickly reported to the Pope.
The Pope personally ordered a thorough investigation of all Light Churches, and anyone unable to cast divine spells was to be detained and brought back to the Light Church headquarters.
The entire Temple Knight Order was dispatched, leading a large number of Temple Guard Knights to swiftly sweep through all cities with lightning speed.
The results shocked them; dozens of cities had been corrupted and infiltrated, and all their core members had become heretics.
At this point, even the Pope could not sit still; this was an event that shook the very foundation of the entire Light Church.
If not handled properly, the vast Light Church might become a dominion of heretics.
In his fury, the Pope immediately had the Cardinal Bishop arrange for powerful individuals to capture that group of assassins, preparing to completely extinguish this force.
The Cardinal Bishop lived up to expectations, inferring their next target based on the group's movement patterns.
Thus, a capture operation quietly began.
Slaughter, naturally unaware of the trap ahead, still arrived in a new city as usual, ready to act.
That night, they began their operation; this city had many churches, and they prepared to eliminate them one by one according to the intelligence provided by the Night Shadow Church.
At first, it went smoothly; the smaller churches had no power to resist.
However, when they swept through the Light Church, an accident occurred.
Led by a demigod-level powerhouse, all space around the church was sealed, blocking the demons' retreat.
The sky, the ground, and space were all sealed; the demons had nowhere to escape.
Slaughter naturally would not sit idly by, leading the Great Demon legion in an attempt to break through.
However, in front of the fully prepared Light Church, this was undoubtedly a fantasy.
Left with no choice, they could only commit suicide to escape.
Fortunately, their souls were not within the Light Church'sblockade range, allowing the Great Demons to successfully escape.
From then on, the Light Church exhibited the bodies of the Great Demons in various nations in a circulating display, proclaiming the terrifying nature of these demons and reminding everyone that the demons' claws had already extended into the Satch World.
This caused everyone to feel insecure, especially those church members, as these Otherworld demons prioritized attacking them, and no one wanted to inexplicably become a demon's minion.
And the most affected was undoubtedly the Abyss Church.
The Great Demons' initial policy was to act alone, drawing a clear line with the Abyss Church.
Although the Archbishop had always wanted to distance himself from this group of demons, the Abyss Church's 'eternal life' method and the demons' resurrection method had a remarkably similar effect.
This naturally aroused the suspicion of the Light Church; if the Abyss Church's followers were not now spread throughout various nations, the Light Church would probably have directly acted against it.
However, the Light Church did not let the Abyss Church develop unchecked; the Cardinal Bishop arranged for a demigod affiliated with the Light Church to go and destroy the Abyss Church headquarters in the Dier Kingdom.
And this person was, of course, Kalter.
Kalter lived up to expectations, successfully killing a number of high-ranking Abyss Church members.
However, their power of eternal life was extremely troublesome; Kalter killed them multiple times, and even after pulverizing and burning their bodies to ashes, their figures could be seen again the next day.
Originally, Kalter had intended to hold out at the Abyss Church headquarters, even if he couldn't truly kill them, he wanted to curb the Abyss Church's development.
Unexpectedly, a fierce 'fire lion' arrived that day, completely changing his allegiance.
Now he could only follow behind a commander named Gavin, sweeping through other churches.
When a hundred abyssal teleportation gates opened in the Satch World, it immediately attracted the attention of the World Will.
The appearance of countless demons set off its alarm bells, and it began to use World Power to suppress these teleportation gates.
The Abyss Will also acted at this time, fully consolidating these teleportation gates.
Having lost the blessing of the gods' law power, the Satch World's World Will's strength was greatly diminished, and it could only barely suppress the Abyss Will; although it could close the teleportation gates, the speed was extremely slow.
At the rate demons were pouring out of the teleportation gates, it was feared that the entire Satch World would be submerged by the Demon Army before all gates could be closed.
So, it sent a premonition to all demigod powerhouses in the world, hoping they could eliminate these demons and close the teleportation gates.
The demigods who were in seclusion felt the World Will's warning and emerged, preparing to expel the invaders.
They each had some influence, and at once, the entire world began to churn.
And the Abyss Church no longer pretended, directly revealing its hand to the world.
Not only did they not hinder the Demon Army, but they also assisted this group of demons in rapidly conquering cities and territories.
Some churches within the cities were the same; at some unknown point, they had become minions of the Abyss Church, completely obedient.
At this point, the entire continent was in chaos; many churches were destroyed without understanding whether they were friend or foe, and a large number of cities were captured by the Abyss Church.
