73: The Imperial Capital Falls

Gavin didn't care about Apophis's attack, as his longsword shattered the black spears with each swing.

After all, the difference of two major ranks was not easily bridged.

Just then, several ethereal, dark blue tentacles appeared beside Gavin and lashed out fiercely.

Before the tentacles could reach him, the sword light struck them first, annihilating them before they could even exert force.

Gavin rushed directly to the Emperor's side and said in a deep voice:

"Your Majesty, The Imperial Capital can't be defended. The monsters have already broken in. I will take you away first. We will gather the remaining forces of the empire and counterattack."

The Emperor sighed deeply, pointing to the guards fighting desperately in a sea of blood, and said:

"All of the empire's elite forces are here now. The rest are merely mediocre. How can we counterattack?"

Gavin quickly advised:

"Your Majesty, there is no need to worry. There are many strong individuals in other kingdoms. Issue a summons in your name, gather the forces in one place, and we will surely annihilate this group of mongrels."

The Emperor was about to say something more but was interrupted by a howling sound.

A Fear Storm flew out from Apophis's hand, rushing directly towards them.

Feeling the terrifying power within the storm, Gavin did not dare to be slow. He quickly grabbed the Emperor and shot into the sky.

The remaining guards also dodged, trying to escape the area.

"Howl—"

A sharp howl came from Apophis's mouth, exploding in everyone's ears and causing them to freeze on the spot.

Gavin, who was soaring into the sky, suddenly suffered a sonic attack, and his body abruptly paused.

He then relied on his strong willpower to break free from the devil sound's influence and flew towards the distance again.

The remaining guards were not so lucky. Under the storm's destruction, they quickly turned into blood mist.

Only the Earth Knight-level guard captain managed to escape by relying on his Qi shield.

Seeing that Gavin was about to escape, Apophis was displeased.

The revenge for his wife's death had not been taken, so naturally, he could not let them go easily.

Apophis followed closely behind, occasionally shooting out black spears from his hand.

Seeing this, AgaVaried also led the remaining Banshees and followed.

By the time Cain arrived with the army, the battle in The Palace had subsided.

All the guards were killed, and a group of Vampire Bats were greedily sucking blood.

A Blood Bat reported the situation to Cain.

Learning that Apophis had taken the Banshees to chase Gavin, Cain couldn't help but frown.

It didn't matter if the Emperor and Gavin escaped; it wouldn't affect the overall situation. Apophis shouldn't have chased them; the strength difference between the two sides was too great.

Now that they had run far away, it was impossible to catch them even if he wanted to. He could only leave it to fate.

Arranging for the monsters to clear out the remaining resistance forces in the city, Cain leisurely arrived inside The Palace.

The magnificent palace made Cain extremely satisfied, and the gilded throne in the main hall made his heart pound even more.

Walking slowly forward, the special sensation brought by the golden steps carved with patterns under his feet gave Cain a tingling feeling.

Finally, he stopped before the throne.

His pale palm gently stroked the throne, which represented supreme power, and he couldn't help but feel a bit intoxicated.

"Is this the beauty of power?"

He didn't indulge for too long, nor did he try to sit down. Instead, he exerted a slight force with his palm, lifted the entire throne, and then walked out of the main hall.

Leaving The Palace, he placed the throne on the back of a Desert Dragon. Looking at The Palace, which had been completely conquered, Cain didn't stay any longer.

He ordered his subordinates to clean up the battlefield, move all the corpses together, and perform a large-scale sacrifice.

This was not the first large-scale sacrifice. They had already undergone several sacrificial rituals during the city's massacre.

Only this time, the scale was exceptionally grand.

Half a day later, countless corpses were piled up on the square in the imperial city, and beneath the mountain of corpses was a huge sacrificial array drawn with blood.

Looking at this mountain of corpses and sea of blood, the monsters present did not feel anything was wrong. Only the Devil Race members occasionally showed expressions of unbearable pain.

Once all the corpses were gathered, Cain stood in front of the mountain of corpses and personally organized the sacrifice.

Under Cain's guidance, a group of Abyss creatures began to skillfully chant the sacrificial words.

"Using blood as a guide, using souls as a sacrifice."

"Using death as a tribute, using destruction as a hymn."

"May the shadow of the Abyss shroud the land, and may eternal darkness devour everything in the world."

...

As the sacrificial words were continuously chanted, the sky over The Imperial Capital was gradually enveloped in darkness.

The gentle breeze that was originally blowing turned into a howling gale, and red lightning occasionally streaked across the sky.

A moment later, a light rain began to fall from the sky, as if trying to wash away the sins of the world.

The sacrificial array drawn with blood was not affected. At this moment, it was emitting an eerie red light.

Finally, the array was completely activated, the space fluctuated, and in the blink of an eye, the mountain of corpses disappeared from its original location.

Cain looked at the world, which had not changed at all, and couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.

It seemed that to sacrifice the entire world, he still needed to work harder.

After pondering for a moment, he turned his gaze towards other kingdoms.

...

At this moment, The Primordial Sea within the Abyss once again welcomed a large amount of flesh and blood.

The Primordial Sea churned, and a moment later, hundreds of thousands of Abyssal Worms gushed out, landing successively on Slaughter Beach.

A new round of slaughter began again.

Ye Chen looked at the lively Slaughter Beach and felt a sense of relief in his heart.

Just these two large waves of Worms were worth the cost of building The Primordial Sea.

Just then, a fluctuation appeared on Slaughter Beach.

Focusing his mind on a corner of the beach, he saw a Worm covered in wounds receiving the Abyss's blessing.

Its damaged mouthparts quickly recovered, and its broken carapace quickly shed. The new carapace rapidly grew and hardened, and a brand new Worm appeared on Slaughter Beach.

The change did not end. As the negative energy on the beach surged into its body, the Worm began its Evolution.

Its originally slender and flat body began to swell, and the hard carapace turned into rough, dark red skin.

Many of its crawling legs began to recede, replaced by thick limbs.

Its head softened and then reformed, and two curved short horns broke through.

A tearing sound came from the flesh behind it, and two bat wings and a curved tail extended from its back.

Looking at this "flashing" Little Devil with skin unlike the dark purple of other Little Devils, Ye Chen was a little curious.

He didn't know if it was the special nature of Slaughter Beach or if this Little Devil was particularly special.

At the end of its Evolution, the Little Devil's arms gradually transformed into two bone blades, and a strong aura of slaughter emanated from the blades.

After the Evolution was completed, a fierce aura spread out in all directions.

The Worms fighting nearby were intimidated by this aura and retreated from the area in fear.

Case closed! It seemed this Little Devil had mutated!

With the completion of its Evolution, this Little Devil's scarlet vertical pupils gradually regained clarity and were no longer affected by Slaughter Beach.

Looking at its brethren fighting, and then glancing at the distant mountains and the blood-red sun, the Little Devil flapped its two bat wings and hopped towards the distance.
