Chapter 103 Supply Cut to Far East Decoration

After leaving Jiang Shan's studio and calling Zhong Yuanxin, Chen Ang went straight to Yuda Supply Chain.

He wasn't driving fast, and all the car windows were rolled down. The cold November wind rushed into the car, stinging his face with a dense, prickling sensation.

He rested one hand on the steering wheel while the other rested on the edge of the window, his fingers tapping unconsciously as he kept thinking about Tu Yuandong.

When he parked the car downstairs at Yuda Supply Chain, he looked up at the grey office building.

It was different from the last time he visited; there was someone at the front desk sitting up straight, who stood up and greeted him when she saw him enter.

The hallway was no longer empty. The offices on both sides had their doors open, with some people on the phone and others typing away on keyboards; the air was filled with the scent of busyness.

The old man had only been in office for two days, and yet that air of slackness downstairs had already been tightened up.

Chen Ang watched this scene, feeling much more at ease.

At the very least, it showed that the old man still had ambition. Even though his spine had been broken, it had been set, and he could still hold things up just fine.

Therefore, once people get busy, many troublesome things become unimportant.

The door to the General Manager's office was slightly ajar. Chen Ang didn't rush to push it open, standing in the hallway to listen for a few seconds.

Chen Zhonghui's voice came through the door panel, very steady, just like it was seven years ago.

"Your second uncle just stopped by. He didn't mention anything about paying back the money, but brought two boxes of tea, saying it was to congratulate me."

"Dad, don't be foolish. Don't forget that just a while ago, he said he was going to take you to court."

Chen Zhuo's voice rose by two degrees, clearly afraid that his troublesome father would be guilt-tripped again.

"I'm clear on that project of his; he wants to use Company's procurement contract to bolster his credit. The bank is holding up his loan, and he's counting on Company to endorse him. Once this is signed, he takes the lion's share of the profits, and all the risk falls on Company."

As he said this, Chen Zhonghui couldn't help but let out a bitter laugh.

Hearing this laugh, Chen Ang felt full of helplessness and bitterness.

He cleared his throat and pushed the door open to enter.

Chen Zhonghui was sitting behind the desk; he looked up, surprised, "Why are you here?"

On the sofa nearby, Chen Zhuo was also slightly stunned, but remembering that his father didn't know his older brother's true identity, he didn't say anything.

"I just came to check on you guys and brought some materials along." Chen Ang sat down next to Chen Zhuo, took out a cigarette, handed one to Chen Zhuo, and lit one for himself. "Discussing second uncle again?"

Chen Zhonghui was silent for a moment, then shook his head. "He knows I've just taken office and thinks I still value our brotherhood, so he wants me to make a decision."

As he spoke, he handed over a document.

Chen Ang stood up to take it and flipped through it.

It was a project proposal with "Comprehensive Utilization Project of Kaolin Tailings" printed on the cover.

Chen Zhuo lit a cigarette and explained from the side, "His project itself is legitimate; it has government approval and an environmental impact report. He wants Company to step forward and act as a joint guarantor with the bank, and he also wants Company to handle the mining and transport of the tailings."

"The price is ten percent higher than the market rate, but he says this premium will be returned to us privately, off the books."

Chen Ang tossed the document onto the coffee table. "He's trying to create a channel for transferring benefits while sucking Company dry, isn't he? Company bears the risk of the bank guarantee while he sits back and enjoys the rewards. Once the loan is approved, he'll contract out the mine, pocket the premium, and leave Company with all the mess."

After finishing, Chen Ang looked at Chen Zhonghui, carefully studying his expression.

Chen Zhonghui still gave a bitter laugh. "They smelled money and came running. In the past, I felt guilty and helped them so much. Yet they are still not satisfied."

Turning his head toward the window, he took a deep breath and exhaled heavily, as if trying to purge all sentimentality from his body.

Seeing his old father's expression, Chen Ang felt relieved once again.

He knew that the old man had seen through what Chen Zhonghe was plotting, but he was still conflicted.

He wanted to refuse, but didn't know how to bring it up.

After all, their family still owed Chen Zhonghe a debt of 500,000, and he was still hoping for harmony between brothers; he didn't have the courage to cross that hurdle yet.

Chen Ang understood that he needed to give him more time and let him face a bit more pressure, so he didn't continue the topic.

He pulled a document out of his jacket pocket, stood up, and placed it on Chen Zhonghui's desk. "Dad, take a look at this."

Chen Zhonghui collected his thoughts and picked up the document to read.

The document bore the name of Hengxing Investment, and the title was "Proposal Regarding Company's Suspension of Supply Cooperation with Company."

The wording in the main text was very formal, listing the reasons for suspending supply: Yuandong Decoration was suspected of obtaining below-market supply prices and unconventional payment terms through commercial bribery, damaging the interests of Company. It recommended suspending supply and deciding whether to resume cooperation or terminate the contract after an internal audit was completed.

"Is this the intention of the Hengxing Investment board?" Chen Zhonghui flipped through the document once, then looked up at Chen Ang.

Chen Ang nodded.

Then he asked Chen Zhuo, "What kind of Company is Yuandong Decoration, and what is its relationship with Company?"

Chen Zhuo then explained the issues he had discovered at the time.

Finally, he said, "The evidence is conclusive. Tu Yuandong bribed the former procurement manager of Company, Jiang Wei. The contract price was four to five points lower than the market rate, and the payment terms were twice as lenient as everyone else's."

Chen Zhonghui didn't ask any more questions. He was silent for a moment, then immediately called Hengxing Investment. After receiving confirmation, he picked up a pen and signed his name on the last page of the document.

Putting away the pen, he asked again, "Chen Ang, what is your relationship with Hengxing Investment? How is such an important document in your hands?"

"Just running an errand for a friend." Chen Ang smiled and then stood up. "Dad, I'm leaving now. Take care of your health while working here."

Even though Chen Zhonghui was puzzled, seeing that his son wouldn't say, he didn't press further, nodding and waving his hand.

"Dad, I'll see my brother off." Chen Zhuo also followed him out.

The brothers stood at the elevator entrance for a moment, and Chen Ang suddenly asked, "Are Mom and Dad still staying at the hotel?"

"Yeah. It's not really a sustainable situation to stay in a hotel for too long." Chen Zhuo stubbed out his cigarette. "Brother, you need to find them a place to stay long-term. Now that Dad has taken office, they can't just keep living in a hotel."

Chen Ang nodded and got into the elevator.

He had been so busy dealing with Wen Huilin that he had indeed neglected this matter.

Walking out of Company, he checked the time; it was nearing noon, so he took out his phone and dialed his mother's number. "Mom, I'll take you out for lunch."

Qu Suping heard that her son wanted to have lunch with her, and she agreed with a smile.

Chen Ang parked the car at the hotel entrance, picked up his mother, and then the two of them had lunch at Suiyuan Restaurant.

Qu Suping didn't ask much. After learning about Chen Ang's plans and knowing that her son was now worth hundreds of millions, her mindset had relaxed much more than before.

For the past two days, she had also been dropping hints to Chen Zhonghui from time to time, wanting him to recognize who the relatives he needed to cherish really were.

The bentley drove out of the city center, heading toward the south bank of the Bin River.

"Chen Ang, why are we coming to the south of Bin River?" Qu Suping turned her head to look at the scenery outside the car window.

The south bank was the earliest high-end residential area in Bin City, with rows of detached villas along the river, a quiet spot amidst the hustle and bustle.

Seven years ago, their home was right here.

"Mom, we're going to buy a house. In the future, Dad will be working at Company, and he'll spend a lot of time in Bin City, so you need a home."

Chen Ang looked at his mother through the rearview mirror and said with a smile.

Qu Suping didn't say anything, but her eyes, looking out the car window, suddenly became a bit misty.
