Chapter 79 How much money does Chen Ang actually have?
The sound of a door opening came from the entryway.
Wen Huilin looked up, hearing the sound of shoes being changed, followed by the sound of water being poured in the living room.
She stood up, pushed open the master bedroom door, and walked out.
Chen Ang was standing in front of the coffee table, holding a glass of water, and was drinking it with his head tilted back.
Hearing footsteps, he put down the glass and his gaze swept over Wen Huilin.
Bathrobe, damp hair, face without makeup.
She looked the same as usual, a wife who had just showered and was preparing to sleep.
"Not asleep yet?" Chen Ang placed the glass on the coffee table and watched her with great interest, his expression as if nothing had happened between them.
"I took a shower to wake myself up." Wen Huilin pulled the hem of her bathrobe together and walked to Chen Ang's side. "How is your mother?"
Her expression was somewhat uneasy; she seemed nervous, and also appeared to be blaming herself.
Chen Ang marveled at her acting skills and replied, "She took her medicine and has recovered a bit."
Wen Huilin breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Chen Ang with soft eyes. "That's good. I didn't think before I spoke today. I shouldn't have brought up Xiaotian in front of Mom; I was just anxious at the time."
She paused, lowered her head slightly, and her voice carried a hint of grievance. "Xiaotian has been asking when you're coming home, so I just mentioned it. I didn't expect Mom to react so strongly."
Her tone was very sincere, and there was even a hint of just the right amount of guilt in her eyes.
Chen Ang watched her quietly. His hand hanging by his side unconsciously clenched into a fist, then he nodded. "I see."
At this moment, he wondered if she would still be able to put on this weak, innocent act when her vampire family came over tomorrow.
"If there's nothing else, go to sleep early." Not wanting to say more, Chen Ang walked around her and went to his room.
Wen Huilin stared at his back, her eyes changing expressions several times, and then she also went into the master bedroom.
Lying on the bed, she opened her phone and switched the surveillance feed to Chen Ang's room.
Chen Ang went through his usual routine of washing up and getting into bed, with basically no unnecessary movements.
Just when Wen Huilin thought that was it for the day, Chen Ang's phone rang.
Chen Ang saw Shen Pianran's name pop up on the screen and, slightly puzzled, pressed the answer button. Before he could speak, she began talking directly.
"Chen Ang, there's a problem with the third batch of bitcoin." Shen Pianran's voice was very low, and she was speaking half a beat faster than usual.
"What problem?" Chen Ang sat up unconsciously, his voice turning cold.
bitcoin was the foundation of his ability to just lie back and relax; accidents were absolutely not allowed.
"During the liquidation process, it triggered the risk management protocols at the bank in Hong Kong. The bank requires you to be there in person for identity verification and to explain the source of funds; otherwise, the funds cannot be settled for now."
Shen Pianran knew how much Chen Ang valued this, so she didn't beat around the bush and reported the facts as they were.
"How much is in the third batch?" Chen Ang asked impatiently.
"480."
"That's about 29.88 million USD?" Chen Ang mentally calculated the market value.
"Yes." After acknowledging, Shen Pianran added, "I have already contacted Zhang Qixiang. He has made emergency compliance communications in Hong Kong, but the bank is very firm. You must be there in person. The time is likely the day after tomorrow. You need to handle this urgently, otherwise, it will affect the rhythm of the subsequent batches arriving."
"Must it be in person?"
"Yes."
Chen Ang was silent for a moment and said, "The day after tomorrow, right? Then we'll leave tomorrow afternoon. Don't mention this to anyone yet, and there's no need to tell Sister Xin for now."
"Mm, I understand. I'll arrange the flight tomorrow."
After Shen Pianran agreed, she hung up the phone.
Chen Ang placed his phone on the nightstand and was silent for a moment, thinking to himself that he hoped it was normal risk management and not some scheme cooked up by someone who had targeted him.
In the master bedroom of Sheng Huating Residential Area, Wen Huilin was lying on her side, the quilt pulled up to her shoulders. She looked to be breathing steadily, motionless.
However, she was not asleep. The phone screen was lit up in her palm, the brightness turned to the lowest setting, displaying a real-time surveillance feed.
In the feed, Chen Ang had just placed his phone on the nightstand and then lay down.
She switched the phone's screen and opened the recorded file.
After watching it again, she listened and watched while almost holding her breath.
29.88 million USD, Hong Kong risk management, must appear in person.
She didn't understand what kind of operation Chen Ang was pulling, but she understood that number.
29.88, USD. This was the third transaction.
The first was 24.99 million, the second was 33 million, and the third was 29.88 million.
All in USD.
Converted to RMB, that's 660 million.
And, were there going to be a fourth, fifth, or even...
Thinking about this being a fortune so vast she couldn't even imagine it, her heartbeat uncontrollably accelerated, and her breathing became rapid.
Hiding under the quilt, she clutched the phone, her teeth chattering together.
Wen Huilin didn't dare to keep thinking about it.
Just how much money does Chen Ang have, damn it?
How much has he been keeping from her?
Her body couldn't help but tremble, partly from discovering Chen Ang's secret, but more so from the anger caused by his concealment.
Thinking that Chen Ang had so much money but wouldn't give it to her, and even tried every way to scrape money from her hands, she had the urge to strangle Chen Ang.
She had been married to him for seven years. Even if the son wasn't his, they had a marriage certificate, which meant they were legally husband and wife. Why shouldn't his money be given to her?
Why?
He would rather give it to that mistress than to her. Just like today, knowing that she and her son didn't have a car, he would rather give the bentley to that vixen than to her.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became; Wen Huilin felt the blood in her whole body boiling.
If Chen Ang wouldn't give it, then she would take it with her own hands.
It was hers; she absolutely could not let Chen Ang give it to someone else.
With trembling hands, she extracted the surveillance video and immediately sent it to Attorney Zhou Zheng.
Then she typed another line: "He has another sum of money arriving. He's going to Hong Kong the day after tomorrow."
Not long after she sent it, a message came back immediately: Save the recording, and send me a copy of the original file. Remember to come to the law firm tomorrow.
Wen Huilin agreed, then retreated into the quilt, slowly curling her body up.
There could be another item added to her list for the lawsuit.
And she had gained another piece of evidence to bring about Chen Ang's downfall.
She finally suppressed her burning rage, and her whole demeanor shifted into a different state.
It was a surge of excitement rising from her chest that felt like it was going to burn right through her entire body.
