Chapter 53: Married Woman Yufei

Chapter 53: Married Woman Yu Fei. Chen Ang parked his car at the entrance of Qiongjing Garden residential area, in no hurry to get out.

The Huaiyang restaurant they agreed on was tucked away in a small alley near the residential area. Its storefront was small, and the white walls and black tiles of its decor felt a bit contrived in this neighborhood.

Yu Fei must have arrived a while ago. She was sitting by the window with a cup of scented tea in front of her.

Today, she wore a dark green silk shirt with a silk scarf tied loosely around her collar, her hair pinned up to reveal her smooth, fair neck.

Her mature charm and elegance were turned up to the max.

"So busy? You're ten minutes late." She looked up at him, but there was no hint of blame in her eyes or tone.

"I was chatting a bit longer with a friend." Chen Ang sat opposite her, Xu Zhaoli coming to his mind.

When the waiter brought the menu, he waved his hand and let Yu Fei order.

Yu Fei ordered a few dishes and then fixed her gaze on Chen Ang, a faint smile playing on her lips.

She was sizing up this man.

He wasn't a handsome man in the traditional sense.

With her life experience, she had long passed the stage of judging men solely by their looks.

Yet his features were sharp and well-defined, and his natural, chiseled look added a touch of depth to him. His eyes, in particular, possessed a wisdom and calmness rarely seen in ordinary people.

He was the kind of person who naturally possessed immense sexual tension.

Yu Fei thought to herself that if she were a young girl, she probably wouldn't be able to escape the charm of this kind of mature man.

Right now, putting aside her twisted desire to get back at Tu Yuandong, sleeping with a man like this was at least something her body was very honest about.

"You left in such a hurry last time," she took a sip from her teacup, calming her thoughts as her gaze drifted from Chen Ang to the rim of her cup. "What made you think of asking me out today?"

"I told you, I have something to ask you." Chen Ang unhesitatingly pulled out a 1916 cigarette.

The lighter sparked a flame, and blue smoke began to drift.

Yu Fei looked up again and said lazily, "I thought you'd show some concern, like asking if I slept well."

"What does how well you slept have to do with me?"

"It has everything to do with you." Yu Fei looked at him. "I haven't slept well since we slept together last time. Aren't you going to take responsibility?"

Chen Ang didn't take the bait and directly recited a license plate number. "Last night, this commercial van was tailing me. I think it has to do with Tu Yuandong. Do you know anything about it?"

A flash of surprise crossed Yu Fei's eyes, and she stopped her flirting.

She recalled the license plate number, then pulled out her phone and dialed a number. "Old Tang, let me ask you about a license plate number. See if it looks familiar?"

She gave him the license plate number and hung up.

Less than three minutes later, her phone vibrated. She picked up, listened for a few moments, hung up, and turned the screen to show Chen Ang.

"Nickname, Niu Jun. Owner of Hongsheng Financial Services Company. Registered address is Jinqiao Building in the New District."

"This guy has been active in Bin City for over a decade. He used to do debt collection for loan sharks, but in the last couple of years, he transitioned to auto title loans. He keeps about a dozen henchmen, and his business scope includes commercial investigations."

Chen Ang frowned. He hadn't heard this name before, but the words "commercial investigation" were too much of a coincidence.

A former debt collector staking out downstairs at Shen Pianran's place late at night could not be a coincidence.

"What is his relationship with Tu Yuandong?"

"You guessed right." Yu Fei took her phone back. "In the past, Tu Yuandong had a few bad debts, and he was the one who helped collect them."

Chen Ang nodded, understanding the situation.

The reason he asked Yu Fei wasn't because he lacked other means.

Besides catching cheaters, Jiang Shan also did commercial investigations. Chen Ang hadn't asked Jiang Shan because he was worried that since they were in the same industry, it might alert the target.

Yu Fei's eyebrows arched slightly, and then she smiled.

With a faint smile, she said, "Tu Yuandong is extremely petty. We provoked him so badly last time; I'd find it strange if he didn't investigate you."

With that, she pursed her lips and stared at Chen Ang. "Do you regret it?"

"What do you think?" Chen Ang smiled too upon hearing this.

Now that things were out in the open, he no longer felt the worry he had before.

"No regrets? That's good. I'd hate to lose you."

Yu Fei wasn't shy at all, expressing her thoughts very openly.

As she smiled beautifully, her shoulders shrugged slightly, revealing a flash of dazzling white skin through the gap in her silk scarf.

"When are Road and Bridge Bureau and Tu Yuandong signing the contract?" Chen Ang averted his gaze and changed the subject.

"Apparently the day after tomorrow, Tuesday." Yu Fei stopped smiling.

Chen Ang nodded and asked, "How did you convince him? If there's a problem with Tu Yuandong's project and it affects the progress, won't he get into trouble too?"

Yu Fei rolled her eyes at him. "There will definitely be some trouble. However, he has been with Road and Bridge Bureau for many years, so this isn't a huge issue. Road and Bridge Bureau is such a large operation; it's not like they can't cover for a 40-million-yuan project."

Pausing, her eyes grew somewhat distant as she said, "Since my dad passed away, Brother Hu has been the one who helped me the most. He was a trusted aide handpicked by my dad, and he respected my dad immensely."

Chen Ang looked down and smoked, falling silent.

Seeing him silent, Yu Fei thought he didn't believe her. She picked up her phone, dialed Manager Hu's number directly, and put it on speaker.

She didn't even realize that her way of thinking had already begun to align with Chen Ang's.

The phone rang a few times, and a deep male voice came from the other end, speaking in a very polite tone, "Xiao Fei, what's up?"

"Brother Hu, when is the contract with Company scheduled to be signed?"

"Ten o'clock the day after tomorrow. The contract review here is finished."

Throughout her conversation with Manager Hu, Yu Fei's gaze remained fixed on Chen Ang.

Yu Fei rolled her eyes at him and said softly, "Could you tell me about the specific details of this project, Brother Hu?"

On the other end, Manager Hu's voice paused. "Is Tu Yuandong up to his tricks again? Is that friend of yours reliable? Don't end up suffering a double loss."

"I trust him. Didn't you already confirm his acquisition of Company?" Yu Fei explained, her eyes on Chen Ang, looking as if she were claiming credit.

"How about this: you just need to remember one thing. The construction schedule here is being pushed very hard, very hard. If Company really can cut off the raw materials, Tu Yuandong will be put in a very passive position. I don't need to say more about the rest, do I?"

"Alright, that's enough. Brother Hu, thank you." There was a hint of excitement in Yu Fei's voice.

"No need for formalities between us. Director Yu was the person I respected most. I won't sit by and watch Tu Yuandong bully you like this."

The call ended. Chen Ang put out his cigarette, picked up the scented tea nearby, refilled Yu Fei's cup, and then stood up, saying he was going to the restroom.

Yu Fei had indeed been a bit emotional just now because of Manager Hu's words; it was one of the few moments of warmth she had felt since her father's passing.

Seeing Chen Ang leave on his own initiative, she thought he was giving her space to compose herself. Watching his retreating figure, a strange ripple of emotion welled up in her heart.

Chen Ang walked around the corridor into the restroom. Turning on the faucet with his left hand, he dialed Shen Pianran's number with his right.

The phone rang barely twice before it was picked up. Shen Pianran's voice sounded very alert, without any of the laziness of a weekend. "Boss, is something wrong?"

"Yes, it's urgent."
