Chapter 90 Wen Huilin Cornered

Wen Huilin was absolutely furious; the surging anger almost clouded her reason. She turned to Chen Ang and hissed, "That money is in a fixed deposit; I can't withdraw it."

Chen Ang smiled indifferently. "Then let's take a step back. The dowry I gave you back then is still there, isn't it? Why not take that money out and lend it to your brother?"

"That is our own family's money; how can we misappropriate it?" Wen Huilin's face flushed red as she tried hard to suppress the fire in her heart.

"That's true." Chen Ang nodded earnestly and turned to look at Wen Zhiyong. "Zhiyong, you heard her too. Your sister said it's her money and can't be used. Your brother-in-law really wants to help you, but your sister is the one in charge of the household, so I can't make the decisions."

After fanning the flames, Chen Ang comfortably put down his chopsticks, lit a cigarette, crossed his arms, and through the blue smoke, enjoyed watching Wen Huilin's exasperation.

At this moment, Wen Zhiyong also became anxious. He pushed back his chair and stood up. "Sister, please just help me. Shanshan said that without a dowry of 480,000, her parents won't agree to the marriage."

Xue Shanshan looked up at the right moment and gave Wen Huilin a smile. "Sister Huilin, please help Zhiyong. You married so well—Brother-in-law even drives a bentley and stays in five-star hotels—just help Zhiyong this once. Once we're married, we will definitely live a good life."

Wen Huilin looked around. In her eyes at this moment, the room was full of vicious vampires, all thinking of emptying her wallet.

Especially Chen Ang; he had stirred up trouble, yet he was just sitting there smoking and watching the show. The surging anger and hatred made her almost black out.

"Do you all think I'm some kind of millionaire? Demanding I empty my life savings with such a greedy request?"

Emotionally agitated, she turned to her parents and shouted, "Dad, Mom, which year haven't I sent you money all these years? I have my own family, and I have to raise a child. I really don't have any money left."

Seeing her react so strongly, Li Meifeng sighed heavily and looked up. "Huilin, your mother is throwing away her pride here. Consider this money a loan from your father and me; we will pay you back slowly in the future."

"Mom, when have you not said it was a loan?" How could Wen Huilin believe her anymore?

This wasn't like before, when they only asked for ten or twenty thousand. This was a full three hundred thousand. How could she not know that it was like throwing meat buns at a dog—gone forever.

"What are you shouting for?" Wen Guodong slammed his chopsticks onto the bowl. "Your brother's wedding is such a big deal, yet as his sister, you won't contribute a single cent, and you think you're in the right?"

Faced with her father's questioning, Wen Huilin was suddenly startled. Seeing Wen Guodong's sharp gaze, her voice dropped eight octaves instantly. "I didn't say I wouldn't give it; it's just that I can't take it out right now."

"Then when will you be able to?" Wen Guodong paused and asked.

He put down his teacup and looked at Wen Huilin. His tone wasn't heavy, but every word carried the unique sense of pressure of a family head.

Wen Huilin opened her mouth, only to find she couldn't say anything.

"Let her sort it out. With that much money on hand, she can always spare some." Chen Ang stood up, picked up the teapot, refilled Wen Guodong's tea, and poured a cup for Li Meifeng as well.

"Don't worry, Huilin has her own difficulties, so please understand. I even brought this up to her a few days ago, and she didn't talk to me all night. Don't make things too hard for her."

Chen Ang chuckled as he smoothed things over, easing the atmosphere.

Wen Huilin finally let out a sigh of relief. She stood up, pushed back her chair, and left the private room.

The corridor was empty. She leaned against the wall, closed her eyes, and her chest heaved violently.

She heard footsteps behind her. Opening her eyes, she saw Chen Ang standing in front of her, still holding that cup of tea.

"How was this meal?" He leaned against the wall, his tone carrying a hard-to-describe lightness.

"Are you satisfied?"

"Satisfied? This is just the beginning." Chen Ang lowered his head and blew on the hot air in the teacup. "How long did you pretend in front of my parents? I only pretended for one meal. Your mother just praised me as a good son-in-law; don't you think I should be proud?"

Wen Huilin straightened up and looked at him with a cold gaze. "Do you think this is interesting?"

"Of course it's interesting." Chen Ang played with the teacup. "When you were pouring tea and picking up food for my mother, and wiping Chen Yijing's mouth that day, didn't you also find it quite interesting?"

"I was sitting next to you watching, and in my heart, I was thinking, when I could also invite your parents for a meal and put on a show in front of you."

"Chen Ang, you are truly disgusting. I have never seen a man as petty as you; it was my eyes that were blind."

"No, you weren't blind." Chen Ang shook his head. "You are more clear-sighted than anyone; it was I who was blind."

Wen Huilin didn't say another word; she just glared fiercely at Chen Ang, her gaze pinned to his nonchalant face.

Last time in this private room, she had performed the role of a virtuous wife in front of everyone, but now Chen Ang was roasting her over a fire in front of her own family.

Her gaze turned into a hook; she wished she could scrape a piece of flesh off Chen Ang.

Chen Ang didn't care at all and even chuckled at Wen Huilin.

Wen Huilin bit her lip, turned around, pushed open the door, and returned to the private room. She sat back down in her original seat and even took the chopsticks to pick up a piece of pork rib for Chen Zetian.

Chen Ang followed her in, sat down beside her, and picked up the teapot to refill Wen Guodong's third cup of tea.

Everyone at the table had their own thoughts; only Chen Zetian was bowing his head, gnawing on pork ribs, his mouth covered in grease.

Finally, the meal was nearing its end.

Chen Ang stood up and looked at Wen Huilin. "That's about it. Your parents have been tired from the train ride all day; let's go back and rest early."

Wen Huilin looked at the waiter who walked in behind them, knowing it was time to pay the bill. She closed her eyes in hatred, composed herself, and squeezed out two words: "Check, please."

Her fingers were trembling when she swiped the card because the number on the receipt was 12,689 yuan.

Damn that Chen Ang; a single meal cost over ten thousand.

After swiping the card, she turned back and saw her parents and brother with grease all over their mouths, which caused an unbearable twitch in her heart.

A bunch of country bumpkins—why do they deserve to eat so well?

After leaving the restaurant, Chen Ang helped hail a taxi, smiling as he sent Wen Guodong and his wife into the car, then turned to Wen Huilin and said, "Let's go to the Qianxi Hotel to sit for a while; you and your parents haven't seen each other for so long."

Wen Huilin lowered her voice and squeezed the words out through gritted teeth: "Chen Ang, what exactly do you want to do? Spending so much money, are you sick in the head? Even if there are problems between us, we should talk about them ourselves. Don't forget, this money is also partially yours."

"They are your family; I'm spending money to host your family, what's wrong with that?" Chen Ang looked back at her with an extremely innocent expression. "Weren't you very filial when my parents came? Isn't it only right that I treat your family well now?"

Wen Huilin's lips quivered, but she couldn't say a single word.

Even though she had braced herself, having over ten thousand swiped away made her heart ache so much that her hands were shaking.

She knew that the current Chen Ang was no longer the one who would let her manipulate him as before.

Seeing her expression of despair, a smile appeared on Chen Ang's face again.

After hailing a few more taxis, the group entered the Qianxi Hotel. Chen Ang walked to the front desk and beckoned to Wen Huilin.

Wen Huilin knew she would have to pay again, but with her parents and brother watching from the side, she had no choice but to go over, no matter how reluctant she was.

Hearing the front desk report the bill, totaling exactly 36,000 yuan, she swayed slightly.

Swiping the card, signing the receipt.

She slammed the pen onto the counter. She wanted to turn and leave, not wanting to stay for even a moment longer.

Wen Guodong grabbed her, saying he still had a lot to ask her.

Wen Huilin turned her head and happened to see Chen Ang's smile. At that moment, she really wanted to strangle Chen Ang.

Chen Ang had a smile on his lips and ignored her, but as he turned his head, he met Xue Shanshan's gaze looking at him.
