Chapter 69 Tan Xiaolei, General Manager of Antai Leasing
"I wanted a car around a million, so why did you buy a bentley?" Chen Ang was slightly surprised; he hadn't thought about driving such a luxury car yet.
"It's just for the Company's image," Shen Pianran said, picking up her coffee, her tone very calm. "You are the boss of Hengxing Investment now. When you go out to negotiate projects worth hundreds of millions, you need a car that better suits the occasion. Sister Xin agreed as well; it will go through the Company accounts and count as a fixed asset."
Chen Ang looked at the string of numbers on the bentley contract, speechless for a moment, then asked, "Where is Sister Xin?"
"She's still busy with the financial restructuring. There's a filing at the Foreign Exchange Administration that needs supplementary materials, so she went there personally."
After speaking, she put down her coffee, fished another document from the pile on the desk, and pushed it in front of Chen Ang. "I've scheduled the negotiation for the acquisition of those two detached office buildings from Daqi Real Estate for tomorrow morning. Don't forget the time."
Chen Ang was stunned and shook his head in refusal. "Tan Xiaolei will be here soon; let him participate. You lead the negotiation, and Sister Xin will assist. Let him gain some experience."
Shen Pianran leaned back in her chair, arms crossed over her chest as she looked at him. "General Manager Chen, let me clarify the current division of labor. You run around outside, Sister Xin manages the finances, Tan Xiaolei is about to take over the leasing Company, and Chen Zhuo is keeping an eye on the Company."
"And what about me? Besides being your legal advisor, I'm also moonlighting as an administrative secretary, business negotiation representative, and project due diligence lead."
"Even if you don't hire a professional manager, you should at least find a full-time secretary."
Chen Ang still shook his head. "The Company is just starting out; this is normal. We'll get through it."
"It's not normal, boss," Shen Pianran interrupted him. "What you lack isn't money, but a basic understanding of Company operations. In a normal enterprise, the boss stays in the office every day to handle decisions, there's dedicated staff for administrative errands, and dedicated legal staff to review contracts."
Her gaze suddenly became very serious, staring at Chen Ang so he couldn't dodge, saying word by word, "You can't just pile everything onto the lawyer."
Chen Ang was speechless. He shrugged and smiled bitterly. "To be honest, I never intended to make the Company huge. Buy a few buildings, collect rent, and lie flat. It's that simple. Once Tan Xiaolei gets the hang of things and Sister Xin gets the finances sorted, you won't have to be this busy."
Shen Pianran fell silent instantly, looking incredulous.
She had never imagined life could be lived this way. In her worldview, a career must always be climbing upward because if you don't advance, others will surpass you.
The term "lying flat" didn't exist in her dictionary at all.
And she never expected this term to appear now in her boss, a young billionaire in his early thirties with a net worth of two billion.
Others shout about growing bigger and stronger, creating new glories, while he talks about collecting rent and lying flat.
"Then what about you? What are you doing outside every day?" She calmed her emotions and asked.
"Handling divorce matters, and by the way, researching how to live life smoothly and as I please." Chen Ang smiled at her. "This is a grand proposition; you can't fully understand it without spending a lifetime researching it."
Shen Pianran opened her mouth, swallowed back what she originally wanted to say, and the office suddenly fell quiet.
"Contentment brings lasting happiness." Chen Ang suddenly leaned onto the desk with both hands. "Lawyer Shen, there's no need to make yourself so tired. There are excellent people everywhere in the world; being yourself is what's real."
Shen Pianran lifted her eyes, trying to understand Chen Ang's words. After a long while, she sighed softly, "Fine, you have money, so everything you say makes sense."
Chen Ang suddenly smiled, stood up, and pointed outside the window. "Look outside; in such a big world, many things are more beautiful than a career."
Shen Pianran looked at his current state, slightly dazed, her hand holding the coffee pausing for a moment. "For example?"
Chen Ang was instantly drained. He leaned over the desk and scolded, "Can't you be a bit more down-to-earth?"
Seeing his expression, Shen Pianran met his eyes. "I can't, unless..."
She dragged out the end of the sentence, then cut it off, because she heard a string in her heart snap.
Before Chen Ang could speak, she quickly put down the coffee and, somewhat flustered, picked up a document. "A powerful career is the only truth."
Chen Ang was stunned for a moment, and just as he was about to speak, a knock on the door broke the atmosphere that had just gone a bit off-track.
The door was pushed open, and Tan Xiaolei stood at the entrance, wearing a newly bought dark gray jacket, his hair cut short. He looked much more energetic than the last time in his hometown.
He was holding a bank card in his hand, walked in, and slapped it down in front of Chen Ang. "Buddy, three million. I'm entrusting the rest of my life to you."
This whole operation stunned both of them. Chen Ang looked at him, speechless. "Brother Lei, are you for real?"
"Nonsense, if you dare to sell me to Northern Myanmar, I'll definitely spill all your embarrassing stories from childhood."
Chen Ang felt instantly extremely awkward. He looked back at the curious Shen Pianran, grabbed a car purchase contract from the desk, and tossed it into Tan Xiaolei's hand.
"A Company car for you. Drive it to Northern Myanmar."
Tan Xiaolei looked bewildered, picked up the contract, and read it from beginning to end.
Range Rover, black, MSRP 1.03 million.
The purchaser is Antai Leasing, and the purpose column says "Company executive vehicle."
He put the contract on the table and took a long time to squeeze two words out of his throat: "Company car? A million-plus Range Rover? Assigned to me?"
"If you don't want it, I'll return it and swap it for a Wuling Hongguang for you to run business errands."
"Don't you dare." Tan Xiaolei gripped the contract tightly and glared at Chen Ang.
Shen Pianran watched their interaction and couldn't help covering her mouth to laugh.
Chen Ang moved aside, pushed Tan Xiaolei into the chair, and said to Shen Pianran, "Lawyer Shen, let's begin."
Shen Pianran pursed her lips, took a stack of documents from the drawer, and spread them out on the table one by one.
"Antai Leasing Legal Representative Registration Form, General Manager Appointment Letter, Articles of Association Amendment, Bank Account Opening Permit..."
Tan Xiaolei lowered his head to look at the pile of documents, becoming more surprised the more he read. He turned to look at Chen Ang and instantly remembered that day in this same place, Chen Zhuo had also been like him, signing contract after contract.
In a daze, he had become the legal representative of Hengxing Investment and the supervisor of the Company.
"Sign it, it's a deed of indenture," Chen Ang said with a smile.
Tan Xiaolei suppressed the excitement in his heart and began to sign his name on all the documents one by one.
"Are you really not afraid he'll sell you out?" Shen Pianran asked with a smile while collecting the documents.
"Afraid of what?" Tan Xiaolei, still signing, didn't even look up. "If he wants to sell me out, it means I deserve it."
A wave of emotion surged in Chen Ang's heart, but he didn't show it.
Shen Pianran also felt that this sentence was very powerful. Even though she didn't understand the bond between men, it didn't stop her from envying it.
After signing, Tan Xiaolei looked up at Chen Ang, his voice steadying. "Antai Leasing, registered capital of 100 million. Legal Representative and General Manager, Tan Xiaolei."
He pressed the pen cap onto the pen, turned his head, and glared at Chen Ang. "I just realized, you're actually a billionaire?"
"The money belongs to the Company, not me." Chen Ang shrugged.
"Is there a difference?" Tan Xiaolei slapped the pen on the table. "I just felt like there was something off about you. Damn it, I haven't even started working yet, and I'm already driving a Range Rover. This doesn't feel real."
"How is it not real? Didn't you also buy into the Company?" Chen Ang responded with a smile.
Shen Pianran watched the two of them from the side, held it in for a long time but couldn't help it; she lowered her head, pursing her lips, her shoulders shaking slightly.
Tan Xiaolei stopped messing around, grabbed the car purchase contract, and dragged Chen Ang away. "Come with me to check out my ride."
Chen Ang looked at Shen Pianran, smiled speechlessly, reached out to take the bentley contract, and followed Tan Xiaolei out of the office.
