Chapter 111 Wen Huilin Wants to File for Divorce First
Xue Shanshan tilted her head up, staring into Chen Ang's eyes, and called out to him again, her voice tinged with a hint of drunkenness, two parts coquettishness, and three parts allure.
Seeing that Chen Ang didn't react, she suddenly leaned in close.
She pressed her lips against the corner of Chen Ang's mouth.
She closed her eyes, her eyelashes trembling slightly; her lips were soft, carrying a lingering sweetness from the Macallan.
Chen Ang, however, did not move.
Then she kissed him more urgently, her fingers sliding from Chen Ang's shoulder to the back of his neck, her body leaning over, pressing her chest against Chen Ang's arm.
Glancing obliquely toward the hotel lobby through the car window, Chen Ang saw Wen Zhiyong walking toward them.
He must have seen the bentley and knew that the two of them had returned.
Feeling Xue Shanshan's tongue tracing his lips, Chen Ang didn't push her away, but instead reached out and tapped on the car window.
Xue Shanshan didn't stop; her dazed gaze was drawn by Chen Ang's fingers, and tilting her head slightly, she saw Wen Zhiyong's approaching figure.
But she didn't stop; instead, she kissed him even more intensely.
A soft, coquettish moan escaped from her nose...
She shifted her body slightly, reaching out to grab Chen Ang's large hand and guiding it onto her thigh.
"Brother-in-law." Her lips pulled away slightly, and she leaned into Chen Ang's ear, whispering, "Why won't you kiss me?"
Chen Ang tilted his head slightly, squeezed his hand firmly, and said softly, "You're drunk; I'll wait until you're more sober."
Xue Shanshan let out a soft cry, propped herself up, looked at Chen Ang, and complained, "I'm not drunk."
At this moment, Wen Zhiyong reached the side of the back seat and tapped lightly on the car window; he could be heard vaguely calling out for his brother-in-law and Shanshan.
Xue Shanshan glanced over, then suddenly leaned in and kissed him again, sucking on Chen Ang's lips and flicking her tongue a few times.
Only then did she slowly pull back, her lips sliding down from the corner of his mouth, and she rested her forehead against his chin for a moment, whispering, "Thank you, I had a great time tonight."
Chen Ang didn't respond, only smiled.
Xue Shanshan opened the car door and looked back at Chen Ang with a curved smile.
After she got out, Chen Ang rolled down the window and waved at Wen Zhiyong, "Shanshan had a bit to drink, she's probably getting drunk."
Wen Zhiyong came up to put his arm around Xue Shanshan and smiled at Chen Ang, "Thanks for taking care of her, brother-in-law. By the way, my dad said he wants to invite you to dinner tomorrow."
"Shanshan is a good person, she's one of our own, taking care of her is nothing," Chen Ang said with a wave of his hand, smiling. "Let's see about tomorrow; if I have time, I'll come."
Afterward, he glanced at Xue Shanshan beside him and saw her eyes blinking, signaling to him—there wasn't a hint of drunkenness.
Closing the car window, he pulled out a tissue to wipe the corner of his mouth and saw a smudge of lipstick on the white tissue.
With a wry smile, Chen Ang gave the designated driver the address for Sheng Huating Residential Area, then leaned his head back against the seat and closed his eyes to rest.
Around four in the afternoon, Wen Huilin walked out of the Financial Center with unsteady steps.
Standing on the steps at the entrance, she was chilled to the bone by the cold wind, but the coldness in her heart made her feel even more helpless than the physical sensation.
Jian Ting walked in front of her, moving quickly without looking back.
She called out twice, but Jian Ting just waved her hand, saying she had things to do at the department and was leaving first.
When the backs of the inspection team members disappeared into the car, she was still standing on the steps, dazed.
In her mind, the words of those two women in the conference room surfaced.
Shen Pianran said she didn't even understand company law, and that Director Zhong even said that her wanting to split Chen Ang's assets was a pipe dream.
She wasn't convinced; she was very unconvinced.
Why?
But at this moment, facing the other side's overwhelming superiority in every aspect, she had no power to fight back.
That Director Zhong had pushed the entire inspection team back with just one phone call.
The carefully prepared whistleblowing materials, the connections Tu Yuandong helped establish, the data Jian Ting investigated—everything put together had been cleanly dismantled by a single phone call from them.
What should she do?
She shivered, looked back at the Financial Center, and then quickly walked to the side of the road.
Hailing a taxi, she gave the address of the law firm.
On the way, she sent a message to Attorney Zhou Zheng saying she was coming to see him immediately.
After sending it, she leaned back against the seat, watching the street scene outside the car window recede, while Zhong Yuanxin's words repeated in her mind: "Everything of his is not yours."
When she arrived at the law firm, Attorney Zhou Zheng had just seen off a client and was sitting behind his desk flipping through files; looking up and seeing her expression, he put down his pen.
She didn't fix her makeup before entering as she usually did, but instead pushed the door open and sat down opposite him.
Her complexion was not good; there was no anger or suppression, but rather the bewilderment of someone who had been backed into a corner and didn't know where to go.
"The Tax Bureau... it was useless..." she began, her voice a bit hoarse, and then she recounted everything that had happened at the Financial Center from beginning to end.
Seeing her appearance as she entered, Attorney Zhou Zheng knew that things had definitely gone wrong.
However, he didn't express his regret, nor did he speak immediately; instead, he slowly took off his glasses and wiped the lenses.
A moment later, he put his glasses back on and said in a steady tone, "Ms. Wen, in the current situation, we cannot sit and wait for Chen Ang to make the first move."
Wen Huilin looked up, gazing at him with confusion.
"Only if you file for divorce first, claiming the breakdown of the relationship and requesting a division of marital assets, will you have the procedural initiative, and his rhythm will be disrupted. You are the plaintiff in the marriage, not the defendant."
"This status itself is an advantage in court."
Attorney Zhou Zheng had also thought for a while before coming up with this non-solution of a solution.
He was now very clear that Wen Huilin could not outplay Chen Ang; the other party was very good at biding his time and had long been prepared.
"I sue him?" Wen Huilin was very puzzled. "He very likely has evidence; wouldn't me suing be walking right into a trap?"
"Yes, you sue him. This move is called preemptive strike, and it can muddy the waters."
Attorney Zhou Zheng explained patiently, "If you file now, you are the non-fault party in the marriage, at least in court. He is the defendant, and he must respond to the lawsuit."
Pausing for a moment, he looked at Wen Huilin and continued, "Responding to a lawsuit takes time. The evidence of fraudulent support he might have prepared cannot be used directly as a counter-weapon in a divorce lawsuit; it must be handled in a separate case or as a counterclaim. This way, we can still buy time, understand?"
Wen Huilin let out a long sigh, thought for a moment, and then slowly nodded.
Attorney Zhou Zheng then turned around and operated the computer for a few moments; as the sound of the printer came, he spoke again.
"Additionally, although the inspection this afternoon didn't find the issue with those 200,000, they must have reviewed the accounts and vouchers of Hengxing Investment; there might be other clues hidden in these materials."
"You can ask your close friend if she saw any abnormal fund transfers during the inspection process. There might be a breakthrough in this."
Wen Huilin's eyes lit up; she was silent for a moment, then nodded.
For her at this moment, any clue was a life-saving straw.
Then, Attorney Zhou Zheng handed her the printed divorce lawsuit application form, "Strike first to gain the upper hand. Your case is very complex; after Chen Ang responds to the lawsuit, it will disrupt his rhythm, and that way, there might still be a chance for a comeback."
Wen Huilin nodded again and took the document with a blank expression.
She knew that she didn't have many cards, and they didn't carry much weight.
But she still couldn't sit and wait for death; even if there was a glimmer of opportunity, she had to fight for it.
Therefore, now, she must go and ask Jian Ting for help.
