Chapter 61 My Brother is a Billionaire
After sneaking in a quick exchange with his wife, Yu Liang turned back to Chen Ang and said, "I support you two working together, but the proper rules must be followed. Don't let it end with you two becoming enemies; if that happens, I will only stand on the side of reason."
His expression was quite serious, and his purpose was naturally to remind Chen Ang to be aware of the various changes brought about by his shift in status.
"Tan Xiaolei himself doesn't want to stay in his hometown anymore. It just so happens that I have things going on here, so, generally speaking, I'm bringing him along to do some work; it doesn't count as him buying a stake."
Chen Ang nodded in response to Yu Liang. The concept of "a handful of rice for gratitude, a bushel for enmity" wasn't rare, so he would naturally be vigilant.
Besides, he trusted Tan Xiaolei's character and conduct.
Before long, a table full of dishes was set out.
"What a luxurious feast! Sister Xin, you've gone to such trouble and expense," Chen Ang complimented with a smile.
"Sister Xin is just using public office for private gain; she's celebrating finding a new job," Yu Liang said, pulling out a bottle of Moutai and twisting off the cap with a smile.
"Just pour your drink and don't undercut me," Zhong Yuanxin said, slamming a disposable cup down in front of him.
The group chatted and laughed as they took their seats one by one.
Zhong Yuanxin settled Xiaomijiao on the small table nearby and then sat down herself.
She stopped everyone and took out her phone, "Don't rush, whenever something happens, take a picture for Moments first."
Seeing this, Chen Ang leaned back, his eyes fixed on the camera, trying his best not to get into the shot.
Zhong Yuanxin glanced at Chen Ang, "What are you hiding for? Do you think you're a celebrity? Does everyone want to see you?"
After saying that, she sat down and edited the content, then clicked send. She also opened a chat box and typed: "Sister, look at my handiwork. Envious? Someone is here too."
Just as she put down her phone to eat, a message came back: "It looks quite good. Sister Xin, you can now handle both the parlor and the kitchen. Remember not to drink too much alcohol."
After reading the message, Zhong Yuanxin glanced at Chen Ang, then lowered her head and replied with a pout: "Got it. Someone will forget the way home if they drink too much."
After sending the message, she looked at Chen Ang, who was raising his glass to talk to Yu Liang, and couldn't help but sigh in her heart once more.
The four of them sat around the dining table, drinking and eating, chatting about various topics, and the atmosphere was very harmonious.
"Oh, right," Chen Ang placed the finished lobster shell on the side of the plate, wiped his hands, and said, "Chen Zhuo, tell Sister Xin about the account issues at Company. Let her look at your materials after we finish eating."
Chen Zhuo hadn't responded yet.
Yu Liang put down his chopsticks, "The accounts at Company? You didn't step on a landmine, did you?"
Before he could shake off his worry, he seemed to remember something and hurriedly asked, "Isn't Zhong Yuanxin the CFO of Hengxing Investment? You're having her look at Company's accounts?"
"Sister Xin is indeed the CFO of Hengxing Investment, but in terms of structure, Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hengxing Investment, so of course she needs to review the accounts if there are issues," Chen Ang explained.
"A wholly-owned subsidiary? Why does that sound so high-end?"
Yu Liang was instantly dumbfounded. He immediately turned to look at his wife, "So the second-hand agency and leisure farm projects you mentioned aren't actually simple?"
Zhong Yuanxin covered her mouth and laughed, "Of course not. How could a project that our big boss Chen Ang has his eye on be a small one?"
Hearing the somewhat exaggerated words of the group, Chen Zhuo also stopped his chopsticks. His expression was even more bewildered than Yu Liang's. He asked Chen Ang, "Brother, you've set up other companies too?"
Chen Ang nodded slightly, a hint of helplessness appearing at the corners of his mouth.
Yu Liang leaned back in his chair, his gaze sweeping from Chen Ang's face to Zhong Yuanxin's.
He put down his chopsticks, picked up his glass, and took a sip, "So you two are playing us and Chen Zhuo for fools, right?"
Zhong Yuanxin looked at her speechless husband and finally couldn't hold back her laughter, her eyes curving, "Alright, currently, besides Company, Hengxing Investment's business involves preparing to buy office buildings for leasing."
"In addition, Hengxing Investment is in contact with the number one project in your hometown county, and the planned first batch of investment is within about 60 million."
After she finished speaking, she smiled with her eyes, enjoying the rapidly changing expression on Yu Liang's face.
Yu Liang felt as if his throat were stuck. He held his breath for a few seconds before spitting out, "So, my brother, are you a fucking billionaire?"
Opposite him, Chen Zhuo's mind was equally blank. He hadn't expected that Company was just a small potato in his brother's investments.
Chen Ang looked at their shock and smiled, "About that. A billionaire—it's alright."
Yu Liang and Chen Zhuo looked at each other, both feeling that the world had changed and become unreal.
When Zhong Yuanxin heard Chen Ang's "it's alright" again, she immediately glanced at him with a face full of disdain, as if the words "pretentious jerk" were written all over her face.
"Very well, my brother, billionaire. Just tell me how much money you have. I'm afraid I won't be able to sleep tonight thinking about it," Yu Liang raised his glass and took a half-sip.
Chen Zhuo turned his head, his eyes full of anticipation, his heart pounding with excitement.
Zhong Yuanxin didn't speak, lowering her head to suppress her laughter. Chen Ang looked helpless, a wry smile appearing on his face.
Yu Liang looked at Zhong Yuanxin, then at Chen Ang, feigning anger, "Stop messing with us. How much is it exactly?"
"Your wife knows best, ask her." After passing the buck, Chen Ang lowered his head and gnawed on a lobster.
Zhong Yuanxin glared at Chen Ang with reproach and put down her chopsticks, "Alright, to use your brother's words, it's just that there's a bit more liquid capital."
Her voice sounded light, but the deliberate pause branded every word of this sentence into Yu Liang's ears.
"How much is 'a bit more'?"
Zhong Yuanxin extended three fingers.
Yu Liang looked at those three fingers, then at Chen Ang opposite him who was gnawing on a lobster, and asked with a dry throat, "300 million?"
"To be precise, it's about 350 million, all cash, just sitting in Hengxing Investment's corporate account, ready to be used at any time."
Zhong Yuanxin's voice had returned to the professional calm of a CFO, but the curve of her eyes betrayed her. She looked at her foolish husband's expression with full mischief.
The dining table was quiet for about five or six seconds.
With a few clinking sounds, Chen Zhuo's chopsticks fell to the floor, and he didn't even notice.
He only knew that his brother had bought Company and that he might have some money, but this figure of 350 million was something he was hearing for the first time.
As for Yu Liang, he was like a statue; the impact of this vast wealth made him almost lose the ability to think.
He stared fixedly at Chen Ang, waiting for a definitive response from him.
Chen Ang dropped the lobster shell, looked up at the group, and said, "Currently, it's 350 million in liquid capital."
"Back in high school, didn't I frequent the internet cafe at the back of the school? I met the net cafe manager back then, and we had a decent friendship."
"One night, he got into trouble and had to run away, so I took out 10,000 and gave it to him. I did it as a favor at the time and didn't expect him to pay it back. Ten-plus years passed, and I had forgotten about it completely."
"That idiot who was always guarding the computer all night?" Yu Liang stared at him, still holding the undrunk wine in his hand, "Then what happened?"
"That's him." Chen Ang nodded and continued, "Then, a while ago, I went to my old house to tidy up and found an old USB drive. It was something he gave me back then, and it had some bitcoin in it."
Hearing the ins and outs of the massive fortune, even Zhong Yuanxin was stunned.
No one had expected it to come from such a source.
The absurd yet reasonable plot twist left them all unable to distinguish their feelings at that moment.
