Chapter 15 Sowing Discord
Standing outside the door, seeing Chen Zetian with a face full of tears, looking at him with a pitiful expression, Chen Ang walked in and looked at Wen Huilin with a face full of reproach, saying:
"The child is still young. What are you trying to do by hitting and scolding him like that? Children nowadays have strong self-esteem. If he can't take it one day and runs away from home, let's see what you're going to do then."
Hearing Chen Ang defending him like this, Chen Zetian burst into even louder tears. Over the past two days, he had discovered that his mother didn't seem to love him anymore, whereas this father treated him extremely well.
Upon hearing this, Wen Huilin was instantly furious. When had Chen Ang ever interfered with how she disciplined their child before?
Now, not only was he interfering, but he was also saying such undermining things. What exactly was his intention?
If their son took it to heart and really ran away from home, she was afraid she would truly go insane.
"Chen Ang, what nonsense are you spouting? Watch your mouth in front of the child. When I'm disciplining him, please keep your mouth shut." Turning to roar at Chen Ang, Wen Huilin's eyes turned red.
Chen Ang didn't get angry at all. He glanced at her and spread his hands. "Fine, you discipline the child. Take your anger out on him, and let's see if he stays close to you in the future."
As he said this, Chen Ang gave Chen Zetian a helpless look and walked straight out of the room.
Sowing a little discord was enough. Take it slow; there was plenty of time ahead.
Chen Zetian watched Chen Ang leave, feeling as though his only savior had been driven away by his mother, and he immediately felt so aggrieved that tears streamed down his face.
Thinking of Chen Ang's shameless behavior just now, and looking at her son's crying, Wen Huilin couldn't help but feel a pang of heartache, and she began to cry as well.
On the living room sofa, listening to the crying of the mother and son, the corners of Chen Ang's mouth curled up like a smiling fish.
Humming a tune, he opened his phone, found a five-star hotel, ordered a seafood feast delivery, and happily started scrolling through short videos.
Looking at the situation, Wen Huilin clearly wasn't planning on cooking. Chen Ang certainly couldn't mistreat himself; the money he was using now belonged to their joint marital assets, so he shouldn't be too stingy.
Half an hour later, the delivery arrived.
Chen Ang set the feast on the dining table and started devouring it, completely ignoring the mother and son in the room.
When Wen Huilin brought the boy out, Chen Ang was busy gnawing on half a king crab.
Seeing this scene, Wen Huilin was instantly stunned. She hadn't expected Chen Ang to order such an expensive delivery, and even more so that he would start eating by himself without caring about her and their son.
In that instant, her anger flared up again. She pointed at the expensive seafood on the table and shouted, "Chen Ang, what exactly are you trying to do? Are we still going to live like this or not?"
"Why wouldn't we be living? Our family isn't so poor that we can't afford a meal. I've worked so hard for so many years; what's wrong with having a good meal?"
Chen Ang retorted, putting down the king crab and popping a chopstick-full of sea cucumber into his mouth. Then, he beckoned to Chen Zetian, "Son, come over and eat some lobster. You got beaten up today; you need to replenish your nutrition."
Chen Zetian looked at his mother, then at the table full of fragrant seafood. He swallowed his saliva and looked up, saying, "Mom, I'm hungry."
After saying this, without waiting for Wen Huilin to speak, he scurried over to the dining table.
Chen Ang smiled and gestured for him to start eating, completely ignoring Wen Huilin, whose eyes were practically breathing fire.
Look, how happy a life without internal friction is, and how even happier a life is when you make things difficult for others.
Wen Huilin was furious at this point. This table of seafood cost at least two or three thousand. She felt that Chen Ang was no longer the cautious and timid Chen Ang he used to be.
He had truly changed, becoming so unfamiliar. In his eyes, it seemed as if money was no longer money.
Could he be trying to drag her to her death using this method?
An irrepressible chill rose up her spine. Wen Huilin's hands trembled as she watched Chen Ang eating the expensive seafood as if nothing were wrong. She knew that if she didn't find a way, she would truly be driven insane by him.
"Are you not eating? Not hungry, or are you on a diet? Or do you just not like eating this?" Chen Ang picked up an abalone with his chopsticks and popped it into his mouth, his eyes constantly sizing up Wen Huilin.
Seafood—who the hell doesn't love to eat seafood?
Wen Huilin was on the verge of madness, but she couldn't bring herself to lower her pride. She felt full just from the anger, and looking at Chen Ang's demeanor, she felt the urge to strangle him.
Not wanting to say another word, Wen Huilin turned around to go back to her room.
Chen Ang called out to stop her: "If you're not eating, you should at least pay for it. I don't have a single cent left here; I even used Huabei to pay for this."
Hearing this, Wen Huilin paused and turned to stare at Chen Ang, her eyes practically shooting flames: "Did I tell you to buy this? Is there no food in the house?"
Chen Ang showed no anger. He nudged Chen Zetian, "Look at how stingy your mom is, afraid that the two of us will eat too much, leaving less for her."
As he said this, Chen Ang shook his head continuously and reached out to pick up a large crab claw to gnaw on.
Chen Zetian held a piece of lobster meat, looking at Chen Ang, then at Wen Huilin, his eyes full of confusion and grievance.
Wen Huilin felt a sharp pang in her heart from her son's gaze. Thinking about how she had hit her son in a fit of rage just a moment ago, she broke down again.
The anger she had been trying to suppress flared up again, and she grabbed a plastic container from the dining table and threw it at Chen Ang.
She yelled furiously: "Chen Ang, can you stop spouting nonsense in front of Xiao Tian? What exactly are you trying to stir up?"
Over the past few consecutive days, she had been exhausted. She was afraid she was truly going crazy, and a sudden, sharp pain inexplicably radiated from her chest, making it somewhat difficult for her to breathe.
She suddenly felt that if things continued like this, the day she developed breast cancer wouldn't be far off.
Chen Ang tilted his head to dodge the plastic container thrown at him, put down the crab claw in his hand, looked at Wen Huilin, and said solemnly: "It's not about what I'm trying to stir up, but rather you should reflect on how to be a good wife and a good mother."
"If you feel you can't do it well, or if you don't want to do it for me, I agree to a divorce, but I want custody of Xiao Tian."
Hearing him bring up custody again, Wen Huilin felt her vision go dark and her legs go weak.
Given Chen Ang's current state, she felt that if their son were really raised by him, there was no telling what he would turn into.
"Chen Ang, I beg you, what on earth are you trying to do?" Wen Huilin snarled each word through gritted teeth, her eyes glaring at Chen Ang with sadness and helplessness.
"I told you I don't have any money. Asking you to pay for a meal gets such a big reaction; people who don't know better would think I'm committing domestic violence against you."
After saying this, Chen Ang couldn't help but shake his head and continued: "In these seven years, I've given you nearly a million. I never expected that I'd have to beg you for money just to have a meal."
With an expression of defeat, Chen Ang sighed, shoved a large piece of sea cucumber into his mouth, and stopped paying attention to Wen Huilin.
Hearing the two of them arguing again, Chen Zetian didn't dare to speak. He kept his head down, focused on gnawing on his lobster, only occasionally casting strange looks at his mother.
Wen Huilin caught a glimpse of her son stealing glances at her, and perceiving what seemed to be disdain, she felt like she was about to collapse.
She had truly never imagined that Chen Ang could have such an aggressive side.
Over the past few days, she hadn't slept well once, nor had she had a single day of peace.
At this moment, she felt that perhaps divorce was a good choice. Even if she couldn't get more of Chen Ang's assets, she didn't want to suffer like this anymore.
Without saying another word, she opened her phone, transferred three thousand yuan to Chen Ang, and walked into her room without looking back.
Chen Ang glanced at the message on his phone, popped the last abalone into his mouth, got up, and returned to his room as well.
Passing by the master bedroom, he glanced through the crack in the door and vaguely saw Wen Huilin lying on her side on the bed, sobbing. A smile hung on the corners of his mouth.
Just wait; the good times are still to come.
