Chapter 83 Interview with Hu Quanyong
As they walked into the lobby of Luqiao Group hand-in-hand, Chen Ang pulled his hand away. "Miss, have you played enough of this act?"
"Guess?" Yu Fei smiled, unbothered by Chen Ang pulling away. She tilted her head, her beautiful eyes assessing him. "That call you just took, 128 million for two office buildings—is that real or fake?"
"It should be real. I didn't ask much, just heard the contract was signed." Chen Ang's tone was indifferent, as if he were talking about the weather.
Yu Fei fell silent for a moment.
She recalled Tu Yuandong's expression earlier—from mockery to stiffness, and from stiffness to utter defeat—the whole process taking only a few sentences.
She had known Tu Yuandong for so many years, and this was the first time she had seen him so stunned that he couldn't even talk back.
"It seems you really are full of surprises, far wealthier than him." She suddenly spoke, a hint of excitement in her eyes, her voice slightly lifted.
"I've always been wealthier than him." Chen Ang smiled indifferently, leaving the second half of his thought unsaid: *It's just that no one noticed before.*
"I'm not talking about now. I'm talking about you as a person..." She paused, as if weighing her words. "There's something about you that Tu Yuandong will never have in his entire life."
Yu Fei looked at him, as if checking to see if he understood, then continued, "When he has money, he wants the whole world to know. When you didn't have money, you could keep it hidden. This contrast is very intoxicating."
Chen Ang didn't respond. The elevator doors opened, and he stepped in first.
Manager Hu's office was on the sixteenth floor, with floor-to-ceiling windows facing the government building.
He was in his early fifties, with short hair and a receding hairline. Seeing Yu Fei enter, he stepped out from behind his desk with a gentle smile.
"Xiao Fei, you're here. Sit down." He pulled out a chair for Yu Fei himself, then turned to Chen Ang and extended his hand. "Mr. Chen, I've heard much about you. Xiao Fei has mentioned you to me several times."
Chen Ang was not restrained. He shook his hand with moderate force. "You're too kind, Manager Hu."
The three of them sat down on the guest sofa.
Chen Ang didn't join in much on the small talk between her and Manager Hu. After they chatted for a few sentences, he cut straight to the point. "Manager Hu, I'm interested in Mingzhou Building. Do you have any advice?"
"Interested?" Manager Hu was stunned and looked at Yu Fei.
Yu Fei was also stunned. She was even more shocked than Manager Hu because Chen Ang had just spent 128 million to buy buildings, and now he was talking about buying Mingzhou Building.
Even if she didn't know the market well, she knew very well that Tu Yuandong's renovation subcontract was a 40 million contract.
A 40 million renovation meant the building's total value was at least several hundred million.
Did Chen Ang really have that much money?
She looked up, suppressing her racing heart, glanced at the calm Chen Ang picking up his teacup, and then nodded to Manager Hu.
She didn't know what Chen Ang was planning, but she wasn't foolish enough to question the man at this moment.
"I heard the parent Company of Mingzhou Real Estate has issues with its capital chain. The property rights of this building will likely change hands, and I want to take it." Chen Ang put down his teacup and explained.
After receiving a nod of approval from Yu Fei, Manager Hu also picked up his teacup to hide the shock in his eyes.
He had originally thought Yu Fei was just finding someone to partner with to deal with Tu Yuandong; he hadn't expected this inconspicuous partner to be a financial titan.
He swallowed a mouthful of tea with difficulty, nodded, and didn't respond, waiting for Chen Ang to continue.
"I have two thoughts. First, the general contractor for this building is Luqiao Group, and the renovation subcontractor is Company. And Tu Yuandong... is the person I want to ruin."
Chen Ang paused, looked at Yu Fei, then turned back to Manager Hu. "His renovation progress has issues; he has to take the blame for that. Once he messes up and Daqi is desperate to offload it, the price can be pushed down even further."
He stopped speaking, waiting for Manager Hu to process the information, and lowered his head to drink tea again.
Manager Hu pondered for a moment, then smiled and said, "Since Mr. Chen isn't hiding anything, I'll be honest too. You need my cooperation to clarify the responsibilities during the renovation delay?"
Dealing with smart people is always easier. Chen Ang nodded and smiled. "With clear responsibilities, Road and Bridge Bureau won't be passive either. I can promise that once I take over the building, all project payments will be settled according to the contract, every cent."
Chen Ang's words clearly carried weight. With the parent Company of Mingzhou Real Estate defaulting, less than 50% of Road and Bridge Bureau's project payments had been made. Having someone take over who promised to pay off the project funds was exactly what he wanted.
But this wasn't something that could be promised just by Chen Ang's word or Yu Fei's endorsement.
Because if he agreed, he would have to help Chen Ang drive down the price. Taking the benefits without doing the work wouldn't do.
Furthermore, he definitely had to investigate Chen Ang's background.
"I can't make this decision alone; I need to consult with the committee members."
Manager Hu didn't refuse, but deferred, saying he needed time to consider.
Chen Ang nodded and smiled, pushing forward a business card for Hengxing Investment. "Manager Hu, after Tu Yuandong defaults and is removed, you have the final say on the renovation subcontract. Once you've decided, call this number."
Manager Hu put away the business card, his face full of smiles. "I will make a decision as soon as possible."
Chen Ang had shown his sincerity, and Manager Hu understood it, so the rest of the conversation was naturally more harmonious.
At noon, Manager Hu kept the two of them for lunch in a private room of the Road and Bridge Bureau cafeteria.
The dishes were home-style, and the liquor was a precious bottle of Maotai that Manager Hu brought out. Chen Ang couldn't refuse, so he had to pick up his glass and drink two taels with him.
During the meal, Yu Fei sat beside him, pouring tea and handing him tissues for Chen Ang, without saying much.
She watched Chen Ang and Manager Hu talk about the real estate market in Bin City, the development plan for the new district, and the vacancy rate of commercial real estate. His tone was steady, and every sentence hit the mark.
She suddenly realized that this man was much deeper than she had imagined.
He didn't like to talk much usually, but when he needed to speak, he never said the wrong thing.
She remembered a sentence her father once said: People with true confidence are not in a rush to prove themselves.
Therefore, Chen Ang was such a person.
At this moment, her gaze toward Chen Ang became even brighter.
"Are you feeling unwell? Drink some tea." She handed him the tea she had blown on to cool down again.
Chen Ang glanced at her, picked up the teacup, and took a sip.
After the meal, Chen Ang handed the bentley keys to Yu Fei.
Watching the two get into a brand-new bentley Continental GT, Manager Hu felt another wave of amazement in his heart.
He asked the secretary beside him, "How much is this car?"
The secretary withdrew her stunned gaze, pretended to be calm, took out her phone to search, and said, "The top trim is about 4.5 million."
Manager Hu's hand hanging at his side trembled slightly, and the light in his eyes became even brighter.
The bentley stopped downstairs at Building 12 in Qiongjing Garden.
Yu Fei unbuckled her seatbelt and tilted her head to look at him. "Do you want to come up and sit for a while? The afternoon sun is nice; let's take a nap."
"I have things to do this afternoon." Chen Ang pinched the bridge of his nose and refused.
"What is more important than resting and sleeping?" She tilted her head and looked over, a faint smile hanging on the corners of her lips. "Don't worry, I won't touch you. I'll just massage your head to help sober you up."
Chen Ang glanced at her, then looked down at the time. It was indeed still early before Wen Zhiyong arrived at the station, so he didn't refuse anymore.
The two went into the house together and walked straight towards the master bedroom.
