Chapter 8 Her moral bottom line was indeed lower than that of the technician.

"Chen Ang, what's going on with these car keys?"

Chen Ang didn't even look up. "Just bought them. What's the matter?"

"Where did you get the money? Which model did you buy?" Wen Huilin walked over to the sofa, sat down next to Chen Ang, and nudged his leg.

Chen Ang moved his phone away and took a glance at the woman in front of him. Although she had just turned thirty, she was beautiful, curvaceous, and full of feminine charm.

Only then did he grasp the meaning behind her leaning in, and he couldn't help but sneer inwardly.

Last night she was shouting about wanting a divorce, but today, upon seeing a BMW, she immediately wanted to probe his financial situation.

After confirming Wen Huilin's intentions, Chen Ang felt even more confident. After all, if you're going fishing, you have to use bait.

"The family recovered some debts, and my mom transferred three hundred thousand to me. Thinking you'd always wanted a better car, I just bought one on loan. It's an X5. You should like it, right..."

Chen Ang simply put his phone away and discreetly moved his feet aside. He thought about how this woman had just been with her lover at noon, and he felt incredibly disgusted.

Wen Huilin didn't notice his movement; her mind was entirely on the X5 and the fact that the Chen family had recovered debts.

She knew very well that although the Chen family owed millions, others owed the Chen family nearly ten million.

Then, she thought about Tu Yuandong's perfunctory attitude last night. She began to weigh the pros and cons, and her resolve to divorce suddenly didn't seem so firm anymore.

Even so, she didn't soften her tone and continued to accuse Chen Ang: "You don't want to divorce, could it be that you want me to help pay off the loan? How could you have such a disgusting idea? Do you not care about Chen Zetian's future anymore?"

Chen Ang glanced at her. "Just tell me, do you want the car or not? If not, I'll go sell it tomorrow and just take the loss of two or three hundred thousand."

Hearing that they would lose so much, Wen Huilin was stunned and said angrily: "That money was supposed to be left for Chen Zetian. How could you waste it like that? Also, why didn't you discuss it with me?"

"Don't ask. I'm a grown man; can't I even make decisions about small things at home? Just tell me, do you want the car or not?" Chen Ang waved his hand impatiently.

Wen Huilin suddenly felt deflated. She realized that Chen Ang had become very tough since yesterday; he had never spoken to her like this before.

This reminded her of when she first got together with Chen Ang. Back then, before the Chen family ran into trouble, he had been just as tough.

In an instant, her doubts deepened, and she couldn't help but guess how much debt the Chen family had actually recovered.

After a moment of silence, she leaned closer to Chen Ang and sighed: "Chen Ang, is there something you're hiding from me?"

As their eyes met, she put on a look of tenderness and said softly: "We've been married for seven years and have raised a child together. I think that even if we have our differences, Chen Zetian is innocent."

"Are you still angry that I mentioned the divorce? I really don't want to abandon you. Didn't we agree that things would be like before and we'd raise Chen Zetian together?"

"Since you don't want to divorce, let's not talk about it for now. If you really have something on your mind, just tell me, okay?"

As she spoke, Wen Huilin's voice even carried a hint of a sob.

After listening to this bowl of chicken soup filled with honeyed words, Chen Ang felt his worldview had been refreshed and secretly thought he had seen it all.

At that moment, he understood.

When the cost of a man finding a woman is higher than a foot massage, then the other party's moral bottom line is definitely lower than that of a technician.

"Let's not talk about what's on my mind. I'm afraid you'll be uncomfortable if I say it." After digging at her like that, Chen Ang stood up directly.

"Oh..." After walking two steps, he suddenly turned back and said: "I didn't make dinner. Why don't you go make something? It's been a long time since I've had a meal you cooked."

After finishing, he went to the balcony to smoke without looking back, completely ignoring the strange expression on Wen Huilin's face.

Listening to Chen Ang's pointed words, waves of turmoil rose in Wen Huilin's heart, and she didn't even notice that Chen Ang had started smoking again.

She struggled to chew on what Chen Ang meant by "I'm afraid you'll be uncomfortable if I say it."

Her gaze lingered on his figure on the balcony, and she couldn't help but speculate: Had he discovered something?

Lost in suspicion, she even forgot about Chen Ang asking her to cook.

When Chen Ang finished his cigarette and came back in, seeing her still dazed on the sofa, he immediately said: "What, did you see a ghost? Not going to cook? Then nobody eats."

Wen Huilin was startled awake. She looked up at the calm Chen Ang, felt a strange tightening in her chest, and hurriedly got up to go to the kitchen.

After turning on the kitchen light, she realized: What was she feeling guilty about?

After she entered the kitchen, a playful smile couldn't help but hang on the corner of Chen Ang's mouth.

He lay back comfortably on the sofa and started playing with his phone again.

Listening to the clatter of pots and pans in the kitchen, Chen Ang raised his eyebrows and thought to himself, this is how life should be.

He turned his attention back to his phone and suddenly discovered a new message; the number looked quite familiar.

He remembered that at the beginning of this year, two brothers from his hometown came to Bin City, got drunk, and insisted on going to a karaoke club, which is where he met the young woman.

He clicked on it casually, and after seeing the content, he couldn't help but feel a touch of warmth.

"Brother Chen, have you been well lately? The weather is getting cooler, so take care to stay warm. Thinking of you, Xiao Yue from Junting Club."

There was more than one such message; he could scroll up for many pages, receiving her greetings every few days.

Although he knew these messages didn't come from the heart, people are emotional creatures.

This kind of emotional value was much more comfortable than what that woman in the kitchen provided, wasn't it?

"I'm so hungry... Huh, Mom, why are you cooking?"

Chen Zetian had forgotten the time while playing games and only left his room when he was starving. He was very surprised to see his mother busy in the kitchen.

"It'll be ready soon, just wait a bit." Wen Huilin turned her head to greet her son and then continued to work.

Chen Zetian said "Oh," turned to look at Chen Ang, and asked: "Dad, why aren't you cooking?"

Chen Ang raised his eyebrows and glanced at him, thinking that he was indeed ungrateful. Does he deserve to be a beast of burden? He thought to himself that he needed to increase the intensity.

He then said with an unchanging expression: "Your mother said she would do the cooking from now on; she loves to cook."

Chen Zetian was full of confusion; he seemed to remember that his mother hated being in the kitchen the most.

Seeing that Chen Ang wasn't paying much attention to him, he went into the kitchen on his own, and the mother and son then whispered to each other, though he didn't know what they were talking about.

Chen Ang didn't bother with it, and once the food was on the table, he helped himself and started eating with peace of mind.

Wen Huilin was clearly in a bad mood. She couldn't fathom Chen Ang's thoughts, so she didn't say anything at the dinner table.

Seeing Chen Ang becoming increasingly assertive now, she felt that she perhaps couldn't go head-to-head with him anymore and might need to change the way she spoke and acted.

Chen Ang didn't pay any attention to her thoughts at all; he was pondering his trip to Hong Kong tomorrow.

It involved two billion, the foundation for him to coast for the rest of his life, so everything else had to be put aside for now.
