116: Battle of the Old Street (1)
Bai Chen, the head of the Bai Family, saw that almost everyone had arrived. He tapped on the table to quiet the crowd and said, "I believe everyone is aware of the news from Sawa Town by now?"
An unknown armed force has risen there. Now, Sawa Town and Kangba Town have both been forcibly occupied by them. This includes fourteen industrial parks that have fallen into their hands. It was our mistake to underestimate the enemy; at the time, we thought it was just a group of roaming bandits and didn't take it to heart. We only sent a small-scale combat unit to reclaim the area, but we didn't expect the opponent to not only have a huge appetite but also considerable combat power.
As of now, the combat company sent by our Bai Family has been crushed and scattered by the opponent. I assume it's much the same on your end?"
"Yes, the armed forces our Han Family left stationed there have been out of contact until now. I'm afraid they are more likely dead than alive."
"It's the same for our Zhou Family..."
The heads of the other families spoke up one after another about their own situations.
"Therefore, this is a formidable enemy. I intend to use thunderous force to wipe them out next. Will your families participate? Otherwise, once the opponent digests the resources over there and grows larger, given the signals they've sent, I'm afraid we will all become meat on their plate!" Bai Chen said solemnly.
"Hehe, we naturally participate in such matters. However, after eliminating the opponent, we need to reallocate the interests there. Previously, your Bai Family took the lion's share while the rest of us only got the scraps. Now that we are to deploy troops together and the sacrifice will be the same, my request isn't excessive, is it?" Hearing Bai Chen's words, the head of the Yang Family said with a fake smile.
"That's right, the interests must be reallocated, otherwise it would be too unfair to us," the head of the Zhou Family echoed.
The head of the Han Family also nodded in deep agreement.
Bai Chen's expression turned somewhat ugly upon hearing everyone's words. He cursed inwardly; if it weren't for that unknown armed force being quite strong and the risk that the Bai Family might suffer heavy losses if they deployed alone, he would never have discussed a joint deployment with these families. Of course, when he invited them, Bai Chen had already prepared to make concessions. There was no other way; in that region, the Bai Family indeed used to hold the majority of the interests, reaching ninety percent.
Shortly after, Bai Chen softened his expression and said, "No problem. Then let's discuss how many troops each family will contribute. Once we've reclaimed the area and reallocated the interests, of the twelve industrial parks belonging to our Bai Family, I'll give each of your families one and a half. As for the casinos and clubs in the town, we can discuss those when the time comes."
"Haha, since Old Bai, you are being so sincere, we won't let you down either. Our Yang Family will contribute two companies." The head of the Yang Family laughed loudly upon seeing the Bai Family relent and make concessions.
"Our Han Family will do the same."
"Our Zhou Family will also contribute two companies."
"In that case, our Bai Family will also contribute two companies. Our four families will form a joint coalition to take back the lost territory."
With the strength of eight companies, there are roughly a thousand men in total. According to the fleeing soldiers of our Bai Family, the opponent's total number is only two to three hundred. The advantage is ours.
"I ask everyone to go back today, gather your troops, and assemble here. All warfare is based on deception; since the opponent could catch us off guard, we can do the same. I intend to launch an attack overnight to wipe them out." Bai Chen saw that several families had each contributed two companies, so he naturally wouldn't provide more men than necessary.
Although the Four Great Families each had their own private armed forces, their family size dictated their limits. Two companies of troops were not a small number for them, largely because there were even larger warlord factions in this region. Back then, those warlord factions had stipulated the military strength the Four Great Families could maintain, forbidding them from exceeding one regiment. A regiment has at most about three thousand people. These troops had to protect the businesses of the Four Great Families distributed across various locations, so they were actually quite stretched thin.
The Bai Family had just lost one company, and adding these two companies meant they had deployed over one-tenth of their total military strength, which was already a significant move.
Unfortunately, the Four Great Families still underestimated the Death Warriors unit supported by Qin Yang.
As it happened, the first stop for Qin Gang's arms shipment from An Country was Northern Myanmar. After all, among the various branches, the Northern Myanmar and Israel branches were currently in the most urgent need of munitions.
This time, Qin Gang had arrived with his 200-cubic-meter space ring packed to the brim. It contained no shortage of heavy firepower, such as mortars, heavy machine guns, armored vehicles, and so on. However, space in the space ring was limited, so he only brought two armored vehicles. Besides the heavy firepower, there were also some specialties from the Red Alert Weapons Factory, such as self-destruct robots and self-destruct drones. These things were very delicately manufactured and took up little space, so Qin Gang brought quite a few of them.
Xin Yang was naturally on guard against the Four Great Families in Old Street. While he had been mopping up those armed resistance elements earlier, Xin Yang had dispatched a small unit of Death Warriors to Old Street to monitor the movements of the Four Great Families. Xin Yang was a cautious man and intended to clear the currently occupied territory before moving against Old Street. Otherwise, fighting on two fronts simultaneously would cause significant losses even if the Death Warriors' combat power was formidable. The Four Great Families were, after all, behemoths that had occupied this place for many years and had some resources in their hands, such as tanks, heavy artillery units, and armed helicopters.
Furthermore, the people of the Four Great Families placed great importance on their personal security; they traveled in bulletproof cars, their movements were hard to track, and their residences were surrounded by military camps. This caused some trouble for the Death Warriors, who had previously been invincible in assassinations. The main issue was the inability to lock onto targets; once a forceful breakthrough was attempted, they would be surrounded by enemies. Although Death Warriors were not afraid of death, dying without being able to kill the mission target was simply not cost-effective.
Because they were assembling troops, the Four Great Families' movements were very obvious. Consequently, their actions were noticed by the monitoring Death Warriors and subsequently reported to Xin Yang.
After receiving the news, Xin Yang immediately launched a strategic deployment. Now with an armed force of over four thousand men under his command, the weapon support sent by Qin Gang, and the advantage of intelligence, Xin Yang couldn't see how he could possibly lose.
The location for the great battle was set by Xin Yang on a simple dirt road. This road was the only path leading to Kangba Town, and Kangba Town was the area occupied by the Death Warriors closest to Old Street.
In war, no matter what means are used, as long as one wins, it's fine. Immediately, Xin Yang dispatched a unit of a thousand men to set out at once and ambush the mountain forests on both sides of the dirt road. The various weapons brought by Qin Gang were also properly arranged in preparation for this battle.
Time reached the afternoon, and the troops of the Four Great Families had finished assembling. Then, under the command of a temporary commander-in-chief, the private soldiers of the Four Great Families began to advance toward Kangba Town.
