25: Sudden bad news

The sound of Zhou Kang's voice immediately jolted everyone present, especially Zhou Kang's fourth uncle, Zhou Tao, who hurriedly stood up and grabbed Zhou Kang's shoulder, asking, "Xiao Kang, has Feifei really been rescued?!"

"Fourth Uncle, it's true. I asked a friend to go over there, and the person has been rescued. However, they made quite a stir during the rescue and must leave Mangu tonight. Uncles, please make some calls; we need a boat from Mangu to Myanmar tonight. Time is very tight on their end," Zhou Kang said.

"As long as she's rescued, that's all that matters!" Hearing the affirmative answer, Zhou Tao wept with joy, as Zhou Fei was his daughter.

Then Zhou Kang's third uncle added, "I'll handle the boat arrangements. I'll give you an update in a moment."

Zhou Kang quickly replied, "Alright, Third Uncle!"

As the third uncle of the Zhou Family went to arrange the boat, the rest of the group turned their gaze toward Zhou Kang.

Zhou Kang's second uncle was considered the pillar of the Zhou Family's current generation. His demeanor carried an air of authority, and he rarely smiled, but now a slight smile touched his face as he said, "Xiao Kang, come here and tell us exactly what happened. How was she rescued so suddenly? Ordinary people don't have the capability for a transnational rescue like this!"

Hearing this, Zhou Kang sat down beside his second uncle and his father and said, "Second Uncle, I was just grasping at straws. A friend of mine opened a Security Company, so I asked him about it. I didn't expect they actually handled this kind of business. I approached it with a 'let's see' attitude, but in less than twelve hours, they got it done. I'm still a bit dazed myself!"

"Oh? Then this friend of yours is quite capable. A transnational rescue involves so many difficulties. You did well, kid; you actually proved useful at a critical moment!" Zhou Kang's father patted him on the shoulder and praised him.

"What is this friend's name?" Zhou Kang's second uncle asked.

"His name is Qin Yang. I met him during that bet with Wei Liang last time. He's a very stand-up guy; my current bodyguards were hired from him," Zhou Kang said truthfully.

Zhou Kang's second uncle nodded. "Introduce me to him when you have the chance. Regardless, he saved Feifei, and our Zhou Family doesn't have the style of ignoring a debt of gratitude!"

"Understood, Second Uncle."

At that moment, Zhou Kang's third uncle returned and said, "I have a friend who has a shipment going from Mangu to Myanmar tonight. Xiao Kang, I'll give you the address and time; have them get on the boat immediately!"

"Okay, Third Uncle, I'll handle it right away..." With Zhou Kang's help, Wang Chao and the others returned smoothly. They first arrived in Myanmar by boat and then returned to Dongda via Myanmar. During this time, Zhou Fei woke up, but her mental state was not very good; for that, the Zhou Family would have to find their own solution.

However, although Wang Chao and the others had left, they caused a massive uproar in Mangu.

Overnight, eight people were severely crippled and over a dozen died. This level of casualties alone was enough to make international news.

The next day, when Zhou Kang picked up Zhou Fei from the airport, the way he looked at Qin Yang had clearly changed. He had already learned about the rescue process from the guide and the translator.

Zhou Kang thought the situation would be a bit big, maybe some injuries at most, but he didn't expect so many deaths and injuries. More importantly, Wang Chao and the others were completely unscathed. He felt a genuine sense of fear toward such fierce men.

"President Zhou, mission accomplished. We've brought her back, but your sister's state isn't very good; you'll need to pay more attention to her," Qin Yang said with a smile upon seeing Zhou Kang.

"I'm truly grateful to President Qin this time. Rest assured, I know the rules. The money will be transferred to your account shortly. This matter ends here; no one in the country will pursue this," Zhou Kang replied.

"Mhm, I trust President Zhou's credibility," Qin Yang nodded.

"By the way, President Qin, my second uncle said you can visit his home when you have time. He said he wants to thank you in person," Zhou Kang said as they were parting.

Qin Yang's eyes lit up. He had the Death Warriors take such a huge risk precisely to get acquainted with Zhou Kang's second uncle.

Thus, Qin Yang quickly said, "Alright, I have long admired Senior Official Zhou. When Senior Official Zhou is free, I will certainly pay a visit."

...Not long after parting with Zhou Kang, ten million was transferred into Qin Yang's bank account. Having made money and established a connection with Zhou Kang's second uncle, Qin Yang was in a very good mood. Just as he was thinking of returning to Hongbin Tower and having Song Wu cook some good dishes to reward Wang Chao and the others, a phone call suddenly shattered his good mood.

The caller was Qin Yang's maternal aunt. Qin Yang wasn't actually without relatives in H City; his maternal grand-aunt's youngest daughter lived there. When Qin Yang first came to H City, it was his aunt's family who received him. Qin Yang was very grateful to them. Because he came from a single-parent home, his university life was quite tight, and his aunt would visit him when she had time, treating him to big meals or buying him food.

After graduating, because his major was niche, Qin Yang couldn't find a good job and worked as a delivery rider. In that situation, out of self-respect, Qin Yang felt embarrassed to visit his aunt's house often. After all, her family was well-off, and frequent visits might make him look like a moocher.

Until he obtained the system, perhaps driven by a desire to prove himself or to give his relatives a major surprise, Qin Yang had been busy making money and hadn't taken the initiative to contact them.

In short, Qin Yang was deliberately holding out for a big reveal; he had a dream of returning home in glory. He often imagined the surprised expressions his relatives would have when they learned how powerful he had become. Just thinking about that scene was exciting.

However, his aunt's call interrupted his dream of showing off, because something had happened to Qin Yang's Maternal Uncle.

"Yang Zai, are you still in H City? Something happened to your Maternal Uncle! Can you come over?" On the other end of the phone, his aunt An Yu spoke with a sob, with sounds of arguing in the background.

"Aunt, I'm still here. What happened? What's wrong with my Maternal Uncle? Where are you now?" Qin Yang asked with a frown.

"*Sob sob*! Your... your Maternal Uncle has passed away. I'm at the funeral parlor now. Yang Zai, I didn't even get to see him one last time. They cremated him directly—what kind of logic is that! You know that his family and mine aren't around here, and I really couldn't think of anyone else who could come first..." Qin Yang's aunt said between sobs.

Although his aunt was crying so hard she could barely breathe, she managed to explain the reason and the address.

His aunt's crying made Qin Yang feel terrible, and he wished he could reach the scene immediately. He took Wang Chao and the others, who had just gotten off the plane, and drove straight to the funeral parlor.

Inside the funeral parlor.

Qin Yang's Maternal Uncle's colleagues were confronting several thuggish-looking young men. Behind these young men stood a fat man holding a handbag.

The fat man smoked a cigarette as he said, "I told you all, it was an accident. The crematorium staff made a mistake. Besides, haven't I agreed to compensate? Five hundred thousand, and that's the end of it!"

"Pah! Second Bao, you've got no conscience. Little Si clearly died after being taken away by you, and you cremated him without his family's permission. Who would believe there's no foul play! You're not allowed to leave; wait until the 'Uncle Cops' get here!" A white-haired elder angrily rebuked the speaker.

The man named Second Bao was dismissive, pointing at a person beside him. "Li Dong, you old fossil, I said this guy burned the wrong person. When the 'Uncle Cops' come, they'll look for him. What does it have to do with me? Paying five hundred thousand out of humanitarianism is more than enough. Careful, or I'll sue you for defamation!"

The elder's face turned red with anger at Second Bao's sophistry, but he was helpless. Second Bao was right; with someone taking the fall, the cops really might not be able to do much to him!

"Alright, stop crowding around. Do you really want to lose your jobs for Si Bo? You should know that jobs with a monthly salary of seven or eight thousand aren't easy to find!" Second Bao continued to threaten.

Just then, several cars suddenly drove into the entrance of the funeral parlor, led by a toyota prado, followed by two King Kong vans.

Si Bo's colleagues, already wavering from Second Bao's threats, saw this and silently retreated a few steps. Everyone thought Second Bao had brought more thugs. People naturally seek benefit and avoid harm; it wasn't worth going head-to-head with a manager like Second Bao for a colleague.

It wasn't until Qin Yang got out of the car that the once-confrontational crowd thinned out, leaving only Qin Yang's aunt, his cousin, and the elder who had just spoken out for justice.

With a grim face, Qin Yang walked quickly toward his aunt, An Yu.

Seeing Qin Yang, An Yu broke down even more, throwing herself into his arms and wailing, "Yang Zai, your Maternal Uncle is gone! I didn't even see him one last time, *sob sob*!"

Qin Yang gently patted his aunt's back and said, "Aunt, try to calm down. What exactly happened? Don't worry, our family still has people!"

"Tsk! What, you think you're a big shot just because you brought a few people? Your hair hasn't even grown in yet, and you're posing as a mob boss!" At that moment, a mocking voice came from in front of Qin Yang.

Qin Yang looked up and saw a fat man looking at him with a disdainful expression.

Before Qin Yang could do anything, another voice came from beside him: "Child, are you Si Bo's nephew?"

Following the voice, Qin Yang looked over; it was the elder who had been standing with his aunt An Yu.

"Yes, Elder, I am Si Bo's nephew. What exactly happened to my uncle? My aunt is crying so hard she can't explain it clearly!" Qin Yang replied with a nod.

"Sigh! Your uncle was killed by this beast! This guy is called Bao Da, nicknamed Second Bao. He's our factory's general manager. This morning, your uncle was called away by him, and shortly after, he fell from the factory roof and died on the spot. This guy didn't call the police, didn't call a doctor, and didn't notify the family. He sent him straight to the funeral parlor, and before we could even get here, your uncle was cremated!"

"If you say there's no foul play here, who would believe it!"

Listening to the elder's account, Qin Yang's face grew darker and darker. He then fixed his gaze on Second Bao and said word by word, "How exactly did my uncle die?"

"Hahaha, kid, trying to scare me? Your uncle probably couldn't handle life anymore and committed suicide!" Second Bao said with his habitual arrogance.

"Wang Chao!!!" Qin Yang suddenly roared.

Instantly, a figure appeared before Second Bao like a ghost. Then, before anyone could see clearly, Second Bao was sent airborne, flying backward like a cannonball.

When Second Bao hit the ground, his mouth was already full of blood, and he was howling in pain! Clearly, Wang Chao had held back his strength at the critical moment. After all, although Qin Yang was furious, he needed to uncover the truth first. Otherwise, with Wang Chao's strength, one kick could have sent Second Bao straight to see the King of Hell!

Just as Qin Yang was about to take further action, the sound of sirens came from outside.

Qin Yang took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down. In broad daylight, if he really killed Second Bao, he wouldn't be able to escape the consequences.

When the 'Uncle Cops' entered, an older officer asked, "Who called the police? What's the situation here?"

"Aaaah! Officer, someone's hitting people! I'm in so much pain! You have to help me! It's these people, they're all together, they're a criminal gang!!" Before anyone else could answer, Second Bao, who had been helped up by his subordinates, groaned and shouted.

The older officer frowned. "Second Bao, you again! Speak, what exactly happened?"

"Officer Liu, can't you see my state? I'm the one who was beaten!" Second Bao clearly knew this older officer and replied with a question.

"Officer, I'm the one who called the police. A strange accident happened at our factory today. One of my colleagues was taken away by Second Bao during work hours, then fell from the building and died. Then, without notifying the family, this fellow Second Bao took it upon himself to have him cremated. I felt something was wrong, so I called the police."

"And this young man is the nephew of the deceased. These people around him are his friends. This woman and child are the deceased's wife and child!" At this point, the elder interjected.

"Officer Liu, don't listen to this old man's nonsense. Si Bo jumped off the building himself; it has nothing to do with me. As for the cremation, the worker burned the wrong person; he can admit that himself. I didn't do anything. I'm being framed! I even came here wanting to compensate the family!" Second Bao hurriedly defended himself.

"Enough, this isn't the place to judge a case. Everyone come back to the station with me first!" After hearing both sides, Officer Liu chose to take everyone away. There were many people here, and it was indeed not a good place for an investigation.

Qin Yang didn't say anything to this. Although he had been trying his best to keep his record clean, it didn't mean he didn't have a temper. Regardless, he was determined to uncover the truth. Even if the law couldn't sentence Second Bao, he would take the man's life himself—not even Jesus could stop him!

Because Wang Chao had held back, Second Bao's injuries weren't too severe, so he was also taken to the station.

After entering the station, Qin Yang began to give his statement, but he soon noticed something was wrong. Toward Second Bao's group, the officers only asked simple questions, but toward Qin Yang's group, their attitude changed, feeling more like they were interrogating criminals!
