133: School Anniversary Celebration (Part Two)

But this wasn't Teacher Wang's fault; she was just a teacher at the school. With so many school leaders above her, she had no way to object.

At this point, Qin Yang smiled and said, "Alright, Teacher Wang, it's just a seat. I'll go to the observation area."

Hearing this, Deng Yue held onto Qin Yang's arm and said, "Teacher Wang, then I'll go to the observation area as well."

Teacher Wang looked at the two of them and nodded awkwardly. She wished she could find a hole to crawl into; these students had come for her sake, yet she had to arrange things like this for them, making her feel extremely guilty.

The three of them didn't say much more and entered the grand auditorium.

The so-called guest seats were near the center of the stage, while the observation area was in a remote corner, mostly consisting of seats for current students. Although it wasn't explicitly stated, the sense of hierarchy was palpable.

As for whether it was the guest seats or the observation area, Qin Yang didn't really care. After all, once a person reaches a certain height, as long as it doesn't involve fundamental principles, Qin Yang was quite magnanimous. At the very least, he had to give his teacher face; he couldn't let such a small matter make things awkward for both sides.

There was about an hour left before the ceremony. The auditorium was noisy, filled with student volunteers making final preparations.

Qin Yang and Deng Yue simply moved to the entrance of the auditorium, planning to head back in once it was about to start.

As time ticked by, people began arriving at the auditorium one after another. These were alumni who had achieved some level of success after graduation. Teacher Wang led over a few more people; the men were all dressed in suits and leather shoes, while the women were exquisitely made up, all looking like successful professionals.

"Hubby, look! Isn't that Qi Kailai, the big shot from the senior class when we were freshmen? And I recognize that senior sister behind him too; she was the Student Union President, Guo Dongxue, when we were sophomores," Deng Yue said gossipingly as she watched them approach.

"It seems to be them. I didn't focus much on school during university, so I didn't have much contact with them," Qin Yang replied. During university, if Deng Yue was a good student, then Qin Yang was purely there to idle away the days. Aside from Deng Yue, he didn't care about much else, so naturally, he wouldn't pay attention to who was who.

Seeing Qin Yang and Deng Yue, Teacher Wang walked over with a smile.

Perhaps feeling guilty about earlier, Teacher Wang took the initiative to introduce them: "Deng Yue, Qin Yang, come meet your seniors. This is your Senior Qi Kailai, who is currently the Vice President of the Agricultural Bank of China's North District branch in H City. This is your Senior Guo Dongxue, currently the Deputy General Manager at the Marriott International Hotel in H City. And this is your Senior Chu Qiao, currently the General Manager at Jiayue Agricultural Products Processing Company in H City."

Hearing this, the two realized Teacher Wang was introducing them to potential connections. Since she meant well, they naturally wouldn't slight her.

So, they both smiled and greeted them, "Hello, Seniors."

Then Teacher Wang said to Qi Kailai and the other two, "These two are your juniors, Deng Yue and Qin Yang. Deng Yue has started her own small advertising company. Qin Yang—oh, Qin Yang, what are you doing these days?"

Qin Yang replied, "Teacher Wang, I'm doing some small engineering projects."

"Oh, oh, that's not bad either," Teacher Wang replied after hearing this.

Hearing that while both had their own businesses, the scale wasn't large, Qi Kailai and the others lost much of their interest. Of course, they still maintained appearances; they greeted Qin Yang and Deng Yue but had no intention of further conversation.

Qin Yang and Deng Yue didn't mind. Speaking of connections, Deng Yue had seen Qin Yang's network; just one Wei Liang was likely more influential than anyone coming today except for the top leaders. Having such backing, she naturally wouldn't try to curry favor with those who were cold to them.

Then, hearing that the leaders were about to arrive, the group didn't rush inside but waited by the side.

Qi Kailai and the others were the same students who had previously turned down Teacher Wang, but upon hearing that Deputy High Official Zhou from the city was coming, they had rushed over at the last minute. The underlying motive was self-evident.

Logically, the administrative rank of Qin Yang's university was quite high; the Principal was only one level lower than Deputy High Official Zhou. However, one only managed a school while the other was a high-ranking official for the entire H City. The difference in their power was like heaven and earth. It could only be said that after struggling in the melting pot of society for a long time, people became much more realistic.

Standing in front of the auditorium, Qi Kailai and the other two formed their own circle, occasionally chatting with other distinguished 'alumni' passing by, looking very harmonious. Qin Yang and Deng Yue were naturally treated as invisible. Teacher Wang could only shake her head upon seeing this.

After a while, a commotion came from the wide road not far from the auditorium. Everyone knew the leaders must be arriving, so the previously noisy entrance immediately fell silent.

As time passed, the first to come into view were several reporters. They held cameras and other equipment, constantly filming and photographing towards the back. One of the reporters was Lu Xiaohui, whom the two had just met.

At this moment, Lu Xiaohui's forehead was covered in sweat. It was clear that following leaders for filming was no easy task. Even so, she was being quietly scolded by the director next to her to watch her positioning and not block the cameras behind her.

Now that the reporters were here, the VIPs were about to make their appearance. As their gaze moved forward, several leaders soon walked towards the auditorium, surrounded by a crowd. Qin Yang scanned them and only recognized a few; most were leaders from their school, like the Principal and Vice Principal. Of course, he recognized them, but they didn't recognize him. Among the city leaders, Qin Yang recognized one person he had shared a meal with, but seeing so many people around, Qin Yang thought about it and dropped the idea of greeting him.

Arriving at the auditorium entrance, Principal Hong Enxue likely wanted to showcase the school's educational achievements and introduced several prominent alumni to Deputy High Official Zhou.

For example, Yang Yunfan, the founder of Zhidao Hotpot, and Zhao Yungang, the founder of Hengtai Electronics... without exception, the assets of these introduced individuals were over a hundred million; they could be called entrepreneurs. As for Qi Kailai and his group, they didn't even have the qualifications to step forward in such a setting.

The people being introduced quickly stepped forward to respectfully greet Deputy High Official Zhou, who warmly encouraged them.

Then, Deputy High Official Zhou scanned the crowd. When his gaze reached where Qin Yang and Deng Yue were standing, his eyes suddenly narrowed. After looking closely to ensure he hadn't mistaken them, he slowly walked towards the two.

"Little Qin, is it really you?" Deputy High Official Zhou said with a smile.

"Deputy High Official Zhou, hello. I didn't expect to run into you here," Qin Yang also smiled.

"Haha, it's a good thing I took a second look, otherwise you kid would have just hidden in the back, wouldn't you? How should I put it—I'm considered your elder, yet you didn't even come out to greet me; I had to come find you," Deputy High Official Zhou joked.

"Not at all, not at all. Uncle Zhou, aren't you working? I was really embarrassed to disturb you," Qin Yang replied somewhat sheepishly.

The so-called Deputy High Official Zhou was actually Zhou Kang's second uncle. Last time, after Qin Yang sent people to save Zhou Kang's cousin, this Deputy High Official Zhou had hosted a thank-you dinner for him. Of course, nothing else was discussed at the table; it was full of words of gratitude. Just now, Qin Yang had recognized him, but he didn't want to steal the spotlight, so he felt awkward about stepping forward. He hadn't expected Deputy High Official Zhou to give him so much face in front of so many people.
