33: Untitled (Transitional Chapter)

After the person left, Qin Yang took out his phone and called Zhang Zhenlin, the Police Officer he had met at the station. Qin Yang had asked for his number when he left; this Zhang Zhenlin was smooth and tactful, a talent worth cultivating.

"President Qin? What brings you to call me!" Zhang Zhenlin answered the phone, asking in pleasant surprise. In Zhang Zhenlin's eyes, the fact that Qin Yang could make his direct superior risk offending a higher-up just to prosecute Bao Da meant that Qin Yang's background was far more powerful than Bao Da's. In the world of officialdom, everyone wanted a strong backer, which was why Zhang Zhenlin was so respectful and flattering toward Qin Yang. Sometimes, a single word from a powerful figure could change a person's destiny.

"Zhenlin, I need your help with something," Qin Yang said, getting straight to the point.

"Oh! Please tell me, President Qin. If it's something I can do, I won't refuse."

"It's like this: two of my employees were taken in for fighting and will likely be held in criminal detention. I wanted to ask if you know anyone at the detention center. I want to find someone to look after my two employees."

"Oh, I see. President Qin, you've come to the right person. I actually have a few former classmates working as officers at the detention center. How about this: I'll contact them first and then give you their phone number so you can discuss the details with them," Zhang Zhenlin replied.

"Alright, then I'll have to trouble you, Zhenlin. I'll treat you to a meal when you have time."

"Oh, President Qin, it's no trouble at all, just a small favor. And how could I let you treat me? If you have time, I'll find a nice place and treat you."

"Hmm, that works too. Let's do it in a couple of days. Once I'm done with these next two days, I'll let you know," Qin Yang didn't refuse. After all, the other party was trying to curry favor with him, so there was no need to be overly polite.

"Alright, President Qin, I'll get on it right away and get back to you shortly."

"Good."

Not long after, Qin Yang received a text message with a phone number and a note saying the person's surname was Nie.

Qin Yang dialed the number directly.

"Hello, are you President Qin?"

"Yes, it's me. Hello, Mr. Nie. Zhenlin told you about my situation, right?"

"You're too kind, President Qin. Just call me Xiao Nie. Zhenlin told me everything. Don't worry, President Qin; once your two employees arrive here, I'll definitely take good care of them."

"Alright, then thank you, Mr. Nie. By the way, I also wanted to ask, is there someone named Bao Da in your cells?"

"Are you talking about Second Bao, President Qin? That guy is here. I heard his case goes to trial tomorrow. Is there something you need?"

"Oh, it's good that he's there. It's nothing major, I was just asking. Anyway, thanks, Mr. Nie."

"You're welcome, President Qin. I'll hang up now."

"Mhm."

With that, both parties hung up.

Initially, Qin Yang wanted to ask the man to put the Death Warriors in the same cell as Bao Da, but on second thought, since Bao Da was already there, there was no need for the extra step, which might arouse suspicion. Qin Yang believed that with the Death Warriors' capabilities, there would be no mistakes.

On the other side, two First-level Death Warriors brought a group of seriously injured people to the police station to surrender. As expected, the First-level Death Warriors were placed in criminal detention for intentional injury. However, because statements still needed to be recorded, they weren't transferred to the detention center that day... Deng Yue arrived at the company around 8:00 AM.

Looking at her colleagues' gloomy faces, Deng Yue felt very lucky that she had found a good man; otherwise, she would have been one of them.

Back at her desk, Deng Yue efficiently drafted a resignation letter and sent it to her supervisor immediately.

Soon, the supervisor called Deng Yue into the office.

"Deng Yue, are you sure you want to resign?" the supervisor asked expressionlessly as soon as she entered.

"Yes," Deng Yue nodded in response.

"Resigning is fine, but there's no compensation for a voluntary resignation. However, this month's salary will be paid to you on payday. If you agree, you can pack your things and leave now."

"OK!"

Without a second thought, Deng Yue replied and turned to leave.

Returning to her desk, Deng Yue began packing her things. Seeing this, other colleagues glanced over. Deng Yue's bestie with the meatball-head hairstyle, Fang Fang, leaned in and asked, "Yueyue, are you leaving?"

"Yeah, Fang Fang, I was actually looking for you. My boyfriend plans to support me in starting an advertising agency. Are you interested in coming to work for me?"

"Huh? You're starting a company! But it makes sense; who told you to find such a good man? I'm so jealous my cells are practically splitting!" Fang Fang was surprised at first, then it dawned on her. For someone who could afford a four-million-dollar luxury car, supporting his girlfriend in opening a small company was indeed no big deal.

"Exactly! Are you coming? This crappy company is just like this; there's no point in staying here. Of course, unless you have connections to bring in orders, that's a different story," Deng Yue replied.

Fang Fang was silent for a few seconds, then gritted her teeth and said, "I'll go with you. Wait for me, I'll go draft my resignation letter right now!"

After saying that, Fang Fang went back to her workstation.

The two of them didn't hide their conversation. Seeing that Deng Yue was taking Fang Fang with her, some others were tempted. Although Deng Yue's company was just starting, considering her wealthy boyfriend, there shouldn't be a lack of money—and money could solve 99% of problems. So, rounding it up, Deng Yue's company could be considered a potential growth stock. Besides, working for Deng Yue, the salary wouldn't be lower than it was now!

Thus, someone quickly said, "Yueyue, you're starting a company? Congratulations! I wonder if you're still short on people. You know my level; I've never made a mistake in post-installation and maintenance. I wonder if I'm lucky enough to join your company. We can negotiate the salary!"

"Brother Zhao, what do you mean by 'lucky'? You're more than welcome. And everyone else, if you trust me, you can all come to my company. Although it's just starting, I feel that with your help, it'll get on the right track very quickly!" Deng Yue smiled.

The advertising agency Deng Yue worked for was a medium-sized one with over fifty employees. These people had been in the advertising industry for many years and had plenty of experience. If she could recruit a few of them, it would be a case of getting twice the result with half the effort.

With Deng Yue taking the initiative, several more people agreed to work with her. Deng Yue looked around; including Fang Fang, there were six people in total. Fang Fang was a front-desk customer service representative who handled orders. Among the others, there was one designer, two installation technicians, and two order-tracking clerks.

Deng Yue was quite satisfied with this. Except for a salesperson, this was basically the configuration of a small advertising agency. To have the team assembled before the company was even registered was a happy occasion.

Subsequently, these people also submitted their resignation requests. The company already wanted to lay people off, so they were naturally happy to see people resigning voluntarily. The higher-ups heard that Deng Yue wanted to start her own business and scoffed at the idea. If this industry were really that easy, they wouldn't be laying people off.

Once out of the company, Deng Yue entered her work mode. She and Fang Fang went to register the company, while some of the others went to find an office space, and others went to contact suppliers for various types of equipment. Finally, Deng Yue would make the final decisions.

A new company, a new atmosphere—everyone was full of energy!
