88: Occupy Vassi
Just as several rebels were imagining their future lives of luxury, figures appeared behind them like ghosts.
At a gesture from the lead figure, the group moved like phantoms behind the rebels. One hand covered their mouths and noses while the other, clutching a glinting dagger, slit their throats.
The entire process took less than ten seconds.
"Gather the weapons and move to the next street!" the lead figure commanded quickly after eliminating the rebels.
The others followed the order immediately.
It was a dark and windy night; that evening, the entirety of Waxi City was shrouded by the Grim Reaper.
Inside the magnificent mansion of the City Lord's Manor, Naibihai had just enjoyed a beautiful black girl and was currently in his "sage time." With a cigar in his mouth and a smug smile on his face, he felt as though his life had reached its peak.
Naibihai was merely a minor leader in the rebel organization of An Country. Under orders from his superiors, he had captured Waxi City to cut off the escape route of wealthy people. Currently, all flights in An Country had been suspended, and the coastal regions were the rebels' base of operations; therefore, anyone wishing to leave An Country had to travel by land.
These fleeing wealthy people were like fat sheep in the eyes of the rebels. After all, while the rebels had backing, no one would turn down more money.
Naibihai was the supreme commander sent to Waxi City by the organization.
Initially, Naibihai was somewhat unconfident about dealing with the military and police in Waxi City. However, once the fighting started and he saw that they didn't even have heavy machine guns, his confidence surged. Indeed, under Naibihai's command, the last stubborn group of military and police had been buried in the ruins by rocket launchers just today.
Now, Naibihai had finally attained the life he wanted. With money and beautiful women at his fingertips, he had become the local tyrant of Waxi City.
But just as Naibihai was reminiscing about his life over the past two days, a sudden burst of gunfire from downstairs shattered his dream.
Naibihai quickly drew a pistol from his side, walked to the bedroom door, and shouted, "Adjutant! Adjutant, what happened? Is the Government Army attacking?"
After a while, a member of the Black Brothers, who was haphazardly throwing on clothes, ran out from another room. Seeing this, Naibihai's already dark face turned the color of an eggplant!
"Fuck you! Go find out what's going on immediately!" Naibihai cursed.
The adjutant didn't dare to talk back and scurried downstairs.
However, as soon as he reached the next floor, the sound of gunshots reached his ears. The adjutant peeked out and saw a group of people in camouflage uniforms massacring the rebel soldiers. These people in camouflage were incredibly fast, and some were exceptionally accurate marksmen. On the rebels' side, any hint of movement was met with a precise kill. The AK-47s in their hands were as terrifying as sniper rifles!
Seeing this, the adjutant scrambled back to the floor where Naibihai was.
"General, General, this is bad! It really is the Government Army attacking, and they're all elites. The brothers downstairs can't hold them off. What do we do?" the adjutant said in a panic.
Hearing this, Naibihai stumbled and nearly fell to the floor; the adjutant stepped forward to support him.
"How is this possible? According to our intel, we have the upper hand on all nearby fronts, and the Government Army is retreating in defeat. How could they send an elite unit to attack this remote small city?" Naibihai questioned in despair.
However, he had just finished speaking when a squad of people in camouflage uniforms quickly flooded into the hallway.
In an instant, over a dozen rifles were aimed at the two of them!
"Don't kill us, we surrender!" Seeing this, Naibihai quickly threw away his pistol, raised his hands, and shouted in English.
"Who are you?" one of the leaders in camouflage asked.
"I am Naibihai, the supreme commander of the rebels in Waxi City. I am useful! Don't kill me, I'm willing to cooperate with you!" Naibihai replied hurriedly.
The leader in camouflage nodded to those around him. Several men then stepped forward and tied up Naibihai and his adjutant.
By the time Qin Yang entered Waxi City, the city had been completely cleared.
The Death Warriors had killed 231 rebels on the spot, with only Naibihai and his adjutant taken prisoner.
By now, Naibihai had regained his composure. He noticed that among the group that attacked him, there were many Oriental faces. The Government Army definitely had no Orientals, so where did these people come from?
Mercenaries? Or Peacekeeping Forces? But if it were either of those, their individual equipment seemed a bit lacking! This left Naibihai completely baffled.
After entering the city, Qin Yang went straight to the City Lord's Manor. The Death Warriors had already cleaned up the bodies.
When Wang Chao and the others saw Qin Yang, Wang Chao gave him a detailed report.
"Boss, according to our search of the City Lord's Manor, we've seized over ten million dollars in cash and more than forty kilograms of gold. The weapons and equipment are a bit lacking—only a few dozen spare AK rifles, several M2 heavy machine guns, and a few portable rocket launchers—but we have plenty of ammunition."
"Hmm, anything else?" Qin Yang nodded and continued to ask.
"We also captured their commander. Do you want to see him?" Wang Chao replied.
"That's him over there, right?" Qin Yang said, looking toward where Naibihai was kneeling.
"Yes."
"There's no need to see him. Just squeeze all the value out of him. Tomorrow, blockade the entire city and deal with the bodies and resources. Leave the civilians alone for now, but don't hesitate to be firm with anyone who causes trouble. I'm tired; I'm going to rest first," Qin Yang said with a yawn.
"Understood."
After all, they were in a foreign country and Qin Yang's side had no supply lines. Since their numbers were increasing daily, they had to sustain themselves by seizing resources from their enemies.
Then, led by Wang Chao, Qin Yang went to a clean room in the City Lord's Manor to rest. The Death Warriors would handle the remaining matters.
The next day, the remaining civilians of Waxi City discovered that the army on the streets had changed again. They were stronger and more disciplined than yesterday's rebels, but still, no one dared to step out of their homes to test if the weapons of these strangers were sharp.
The Death Warriors, of course, didn't care. As long as they weren't interrupted while following Qin Yang's orders, they acted as if the peeking civilians didn't exist.
In the morning, while Qin Yang was eating, Wang Chao reported to him again. The Death Warriors' physical fitness was such that their efficiency in everything was terrifying.
"Boss, through last night's interrogation, we located several more supply warehouses. These were all looted by the rebels over the last two days. There's enough food and water to last nearly a thousand people for three months. Also, in one of the warehouses, we found many imprisoned people. Upon inquiry, they are wealthy citizens of An Country who were intercepted by the rebels, including many mine owners from various countries."
"Heh, these rebels are quite thoughtful. We were just wondering where to start, and a solution falls right into our laps.
Notify the men to filter out the mine owners and give them a bit of special care. Once our goal is achieved, we'll need to rely on these people to make money," Qin Yang said with a light laugh.
"Yes!"
