1: 5 disciplinary penalties and still able to graduate from the police academy? This is a monster!
Blue Star, M204.
Yuezhou City, Daxia.
Today, Chief Xie Changkun of the Baiyun Police Station in Xishan District was all smiles when he came to work. He was grinning at everyone, clearly in a very good mood.
"What's gotten into Chief today?" Lao He quietly walked over to the household registration window, holding his teacup, and started gossiping.
"Someone's coming. The Branch Bureau gave us two new police officers this year, and they're reporting today." He Wenyan, from the household registration section, was already over forty. She had worked at the Baiyun Police Station for more than twenty years and was the station's gossipmonger; no matter how small the rumor, it couldn't escape her.
"No wonder. The Chief has been asking for people these past two years, but the Branch Bureau didn't give us a single one. Today they gave us two, that's impressive. I think the Chief's mouth is about to split from smiling so much." Lao He said thoughtfully.
"Someone's coming? Lao He, you community police officers shouldn't try to snatch them from us. Our Criminal Police Team is severely understaffed right now." A burly plainclothes man with a full beard walked over.
"Zhang Degen, get out of here. All the young ones go to your Criminal Police Team. We community police don't have anyone under 35. It's our turn now." Lao He wasn't having any of it. He confidently took a sip of tea. This time, he was determined to ask Chief Xie for a young man.
"I heard that of the two coming, one is a top student from the Police Academy, and the other is a talent," He Wenyan whispered.
"What do you mean, 'talent'?" Zhang Degen asked, puzzled.
"You ask me, who should I ask? Anyway, what I heard is 'talent,' and rumor has it that a Branch Bureau leader will be coming later too."
No sooner had she spoken than a police car drove straight in. It was a Santana sedan, clearly a Branch Bureau leader's car; ordinary Police Stations simply didn't have sedans.
As soon as the leader's car stopped, Xie Changkun shot out of his office and stood by the car, waiting.
"Director Zheng, you haven't been here in a while! I've missed you so much!"
A stern-faced middle-aged police officer with two bars (indicating a police superintendent) got out of the car, along with a sturdy young man, 180 cm tall, in a perfectly fitted police uniform. He looked incredibly sharp.
"Old Xie, spare me the flattery. Don't think I don't know you; you're the one who curses the Branch Bureau the most behind its back. Do you think I don't know?" Zheng Yongnian said with a cold face, completely unaffected by Xie Changkun's compliments.
"Hehe, not at all! Those are just rumors spread by other Police Stations." Xie Changkun forced a smile.
Zheng Yongnian snorted coldly and said seriously, "We haven't been able to solve your request for more people all these years, and the Branch Bureau couldn't help it. We simply didn't have anyone."
"However, the Branch Bureau has always been considering your difficulties. See, I've brought you a freshly graduated Police Academy student directly."
"Come, Xiao Lin, meet your Chief Xie." Zheng Yongnian turned to the young police officer and said.
"Reporting, Chief Xie! Police Officer Lin Xianfeng reports for duty!" The young man saluted sharply.
Xie Changkun looked at his sturdy physique, standard 180 cm height, full of muscle, especially those bright, gleaming eyes. His heart blossomed with joy. "Good, he looks like excellent police material."
Not only was Xie Changkun delighted, but Zhang Degen's eyes also lit up. "Lao He, this is absolutely Criminal Police material! If you try to argue with me, I'll get angry!"
"What? Big build means Criminal Police? I think he'd be good as a community security officer too." Lao He rolled his eyes at Zhang Degen.
However, he also knew that someone with this build would definitely go to Criminal Police. So, the next step was to see who the other one was.
Xie Changkun happily patted Lin Xianfeng's shoulder, his eyes full of approval. "I've seen Xiao Lin's file. A top student from the Police Academy! He's excellent in combat, shooting, and criminal investigation. Work hard!"
"Yes, Chief Xie!"
"Director Zheng, who is the other one? Their file never came over. And why didn't they come with you?" Xie Changkun asked, puzzled.
He had always found it strange. Logically, the Branch Bureau would send the files of new police officers to the Police Station in advance so they could familiarize themselves and arrange specific positions.
Upon hearing Xie Changkun ask about the other officer, Zheng Yongnian's mouth twitched, and a strange expression appeared on his face as he explained:
"Uh, Ye Lin said he'd report himself. The file should have been given, right? It hasn't been given yet?"
Zheng Yongnian turned to Xiao Li, who was carrying a bag, and questioned him, "Xiao Li, what's going on? Has Ye Lin's file not been given to the station yet? Didn't I repeatedly emphasize that it must be given in advance? Office work must be rigorous, rigorous, with no mistakes, omissions, or forgetfulness, understand?"
Xiao Li had a bitter smile on his face. There was nothing he could do; it was time to take the blame for his superior.
"I'm sorry, Chief Xie. I was so busy I forgot. I'll get it for you right now, it's in the car."
Xiao Li nimbly climbed into the car, took out a file bag, and handed it to Xie Changkun with a fawning expression.
Xie Changkun looked at these two strange people, feeling a bit bewildered. What act were they putting on?
Ye Lin. Judging by the name, he should be a spirited young man, right?
Xie Changkun casually opened the file bag and pulled out the student ID card inside.
Instantly, his brows furrowed.
A student photo jumped out at him. This, what the hell, was 'spirited'?
Xie Changkun's face was covered in black lines. The photo showed a police officer with a ruffian-like expression, a smile that seemed to hide a belly full of mischief. If he hadn't been wearing a police uniform, Xie Changkun would have absolutely thought he was holding a suspect's photo.
Xie Changkun subtly raised an eyebrow and gave Xiao Li a fake smile. Xiao Li, understanding the unspoken message, responded with an awkward smile. Both old foxes secretly cursed under their breath: Damn it.
However, Chief Xie endured it. It wasn't the person's fault if they didn't look good, right? One shouldn't judge a book by its cover.
But when he looked further down, his eyes instantly widened.
He looked several times, rubbed his eyes, and then started counting on his fingers: "1, 2, 3, 4, 5... Five disciplinary actions?"
He looked up at Zheng Yongnian, his face full of confusion, and said in an unfriendly tone, "Director Zheng, is this what the Branch Bureau gives me? And he's a 'talent'? This is a monster."
"He got 5 disciplinary actions in 2 years at the Police Academy? And the Police Academy let him graduate? Huh?" Xie Changkun's voice grew louder and louder, making everyone in the station look over, even those who had come to conduct business were curious.
Zheng Yongnian's face darkened, and he reprimanded, "Xie Changkun, watch your attitude! Since the Police Academy allowed him to graduate, there's naturally a reason for it. Besides, this is a talent recruited by the Police Academy. Watch your wording!"
Zheng Yongnian was also cursing inwardly. He knew this would be the outcome.
Xie Changkun was not an easy person to deal with, and now that the Branch Bureau had foisted such a 'talent' on him, how could he not jump up and curse?
Sure enough, Director Zheng's reprimand had no effect whatsoever.
Xie Changkun shoved the file back in, huffing and puffing, "I don't care! Your Branch Bureau has to give me a replacement! This 'talent,' you can enjoy him yourselves at the Branch Bureau. I don't want him!"
