127: This is Chu Renmei, a horrible corpse

Suddenly, Ye Lin's pupils contracted sharply.

A human hand!

That white, elongated object was actually a human hand!

Damn it, Ye Lin almost screamed.

Even though I'm a police officer, you can't scare me like this.

I remember in my previous life, I watched a Chu Renmei movie where a hand suddenly reached out, and it scared me so much I couldn't sleep all night. Now, it's happening again.

A primal fear surged through him. I'll hide for a bit first. Ye Lin pushed off with both feet, deciding to rescue the girl first.

The girl had been in the car, so her physical strength was quite abundant. Ye Lin didn't expend much effort to bring her to the surface, where he took a lifebuoy from Lin Xianfeng and handed it to her.

With the lifebuoy, the girl quickly swam to the shore by herself.

The familiar system sound also rang out:

"Due to the host's active participation in rescuing drowning individuals, you are rewarded with [Tyson's Boxing Gloves], a one-time use item. When worn, you can deliver punches with the same power as Tyson for 5 minutes."

A one-time use item, sigh. It seems the system is getting stingier these days, giving out fewer skills.

But Tyson's powerful punches, the world-renowned heavy punches from the previous life. One punch would instantly knock out an opponent, a prime example of violent aesthetics.

If it weren't for the fact that it was a one-time use item, Ye Lin would have wanted to try it out.

"Lin Zi, that's enough. There aren't many people left. Come up," Lin Xianfeng's voice came from the side, interrupting Ye Lin's thoughts.

Ye Lin gave a wry smile, "No more rescues, but you should tell Chief Xie to call the Forensic Doctor."

"Huh? Someone died?" Lin Xianfeng asked, puzzled. Up until now, besides a few who were sent to the hospital and whose condition was unknown, everyone else was alive.

Especially those who fell into the water; because of timely rescue, most of them had been saved. However, those who landed on the cargo ship were somewhat seriously injured.

But he hadn't heard of anyone dying.

"Dead, but it shouldn't be from this incident. I'm going to retrieve the body now." Ye Lin looked miserable, then disappeared into the river water.

"A body?" Lin Xianfeng was a bit confused, but he decisively swam back to report to his superiors. Everything would be decided by the leaders.

Xie Changkun was still busy when Lin Xianfeng grabbed him, "Chief, Lin Zi said to call the Forensic Doctor."

"What? Has Ye Lin's brain been in the water for too long and turned stupid?"

"Why call a Forensic Doctor? We have enough doctors here."

Xie Changkun hadn't reacted yet. All he was thinking about was cooperating with the medical staff to settle the drowning victims.

This Ye Lin, too. Why call a Forensic Doctor? He might not mind the bad luck, but these ordinary people would definitely be disgusted.

After speaking, he turned again, intending to help the doctors carry patients.

"No, Chief." Lin Xianfeng grabbed Xie Changkun again, saying with a difficult expression, "Lin Zi said there's a body, not from this incident."

"What?"

Xie Changkun finally understood and cried out in alarm. This Ye Lin truly… ah, should he be praised or criticized?

Go into the water to save people and discover a body?

However, seeing Lin Xianfeng's certain gaze, Xie Changkun still compromised, dutifully calling the Branch Bureau to request assistance. The Police Station didn't have a precious Forensic Doctor.

Below the Jiang River surface, Ye Lin swam with a serious expression to the location of the hand.

This time, looking closer, he saw it even more clearly: a human hand, completely white from being soaked, the flesh on it already rotten, with bits of decaying flesh constantly being washed away by the river water.

Ugh.

It was truly disgusting. Ye Lin gagged, but at least he couldn't smell it underwater.

Ye Lin found an upstream position and began clearing the surrounding silt. As the soil covering it gradually lessened, the scene beneath was revealed to Ye Lin's eyes.

Two gunny sacks!

Two bodies!

The gunny sacks contained many stones, likely used to sink them in the river. One of the sacks, presumably while rolling along the riverbed, had a tear in it.

Coincidentally, a stone was exposed and pulled out of the sack by Ye Lin, allowing the body that was originally inside the sack to see the light of day again.

Ye Lin felt a chill in his heart. This was another major case. He guessed that the bodies had a spirit, which allowed him to discover them. Otherwise, they would probably have to wait until the sacks completely broke open before they might be washed ashore.

Ye Lin stood firm in the water and bowed several times to the two bodies to show respect for the deceased. "Don't worry, both of you. Since you've been found, I will definitely avenge you."

Ye Lin cleared out the stones from the sack, grabbed the tied opening, and pulled hard upwards.

Whoosh!

A figure swam down from above; it was Lin Xianfeng coming to help.

Ye Lin and he worked together to drag the sack to the riverbank. Xie Changkun ran over, saw the body exposed from the sack, and his heart sank. Something really had happened.

"Zhang Degen, Xiao Xu, you two set up the cordon and clear out the people."

"Chief, there's another one down there," Ye Lin said.

"Another one?" Xie Changkun's head was buzzing a bit. Two bodies sunk in the river—this was getting serious.

"You and Xianfeng be careful not to hurt yourselves. If you can't do it, wait for the Municipal Bureau's dive team to retrieve them."

"It's fine, I can manage. Find a rope. I'll try to pull up those stones too to preserve more evidence. Xianfeng just needs to help me pull from above."

After Ye Lin finished speaking, he found a rope on the shore and went back into the Jiang River.

This time, he directly pulled up the intact sack. For solving a case, not a single subtle detail can be overlooked, because these inconspicuous things could very well be the key to solving the case.

So Ye Lin insisted on pulling up the stones as well.

It was too heavy. Ye Lin couldn't pull it alone. There was no other way but to tie it with a rope, then float to the surface, and pull it up with Lin Xianfeng.

Two heavy sacks lay before Xie Changkun, weighing on his mind.

The Forensic Doctor had already arrived, along with a group of people from the Criminal Investigation Brigade of the Branch Bureau, all familiar faces to Ye Lin.

"Ye Lin, you found it again?" Yu Haifeng came over to greet him while the Forensic Doctor was examining the bodies.

Ye Lin gave a wry smile, "Team Leader Yu, I didn't want to."

He was so tired now he didn't even want to move. Although he had underwater breathing potions, going back and forth so many times, he was truly struggling.

"I heard you can hold your breath underwater for several minutes. If it weren't for that, you wouldn't have discovered it. Heaven has eyes," Yu Haifeng said.

"Yes, the stone I used to smash the window just happened to be exposed from the sack. Heaven wants them justice, and no one can stop it," Ye Lin said firmly.

"Come to the Brigade. We'll work on this case together." Yu Haifeng lit a cigarette for Ye Lin.

Ye Lin took a puff and looked back at his brothers and sisters at the Police Station, suddenly feeling a hint of reluctance.
