8: The koi physique takes effect, and the white crane spreads its wings and encounters a Class A wanted criminal.

He Xinmin, having been a community police officer for 20 years, truly knew the area like the back of his hand.

"Chief He, you're here! My son and daughter-in-law are fighting again. When can you come and mediate for me?" An enthusiastic old lady came up to him.

"Oh, my dear old sister, didn't I tell you? It's a young couple's business. Let them sort it out themselves. If you interfere less, there won't be any problems."

"You're always meddling; they're definitely not used to it."

"Go back and pretend you don't know anything. Young couples fight at the head of the bed and make up at the foot of the bed. It's nothing."

Chief He was clearly very familiar with this family's situation and chatted with her for more than ten minutes.

Ye Lin stood by, extremely bored, counting small ants.

So boring.

This is a community police officer.

This is a community old man.

Ye Lin began to lose all hope for his future life.

Damn it, it's all this doggone system's fault! If it hadn't forced him to become a police officer, he'd be interning at a hospital right now.

Although intern doctors don't get paid very well, it's still better than chatting with an old lady about her daughter-in-law here.

Oh my god!

Bring on a ruthless bandit!

Bring on a locked-room murder! This big brother has a system, after all!

Heavens above!

After chatting for a while, the old lady glanced at Ye Lin and left, as if afraid the police officer might be bad for her.

Chief He pulled out his water cup, took a satisfied sip, then turned to look at Ye Lin. "Xiao Ye, community work is also very important. We are the ones closest to the common people."

"Do it well, there's a future in it."

Ye Lin gave a perfunctory reply. He was already bored to a certain extent.

He was practically on the verge of squatting down to watch the little ants move house.

One, two... If this old lady didn't leave soon, he'd want to go up and ask, "Big sister, do you have any cases? Robbery, theft, anything will do!"

"Chief He, you're here!" A short middle-aged man walked out of Baiyun Third District, his head slightly bald, his build sturdy, and his limbs powerful, clearly someone who exercised regularly.

"Old Zhang, going to buy groceries yourself? Where's your wife?" It was another acquaintance of He Xinmin.

"Don't even mention it. She hasn't been seen for two days. I was thinking of reporting it to you guys," the middle-aged man said, a bit depressed.

"No way, did you two argue?"

"Contact her girlfriends more often; she's definitely playing at one of their houses."

Chief He patiently offered a few words of advice.

The middle-aged man shook his head and went off to buy groceries on his own.

"Master, his wife is missing. Aren't we going to do anything?" Ye Lin asked curiously.

He finally had a situation that looked like a case, but Chief He wasn't even bothering with it.

"Eh, you don't understand."

"Xiao Ye, you'll know once you've been doing this for a long time. In reality, there aren't that many cases; it's all just household squabbles."

Chief He could clearly see Ye Lin's boredom.

The old man understood; everyone had been young once, after all.

"So, this disappearance isn't considered a case?" Ye Lin didn't give up.

Chief He smiled. "A disappearance is certainly a case, but Old Zhang's wife is a local, and she has many girlfriends. It's normal for her to go out and have fun and get carried away once or twice."

"Alright, I'll take you for a walk through Hengxi Village."

He Xinmin waved his hand, taking Ye Lin on a bike ride to Hengxi Village.

At the village entrance, the two parked their bikes and walked in.

Hengxi Village still retained its traditional village houses, with each household having a small plot of land on which a small building was constructed for rent.

The ground floor was used for storefronts, with hair salons, processing workshops, restaurants, and everything imaginable.

Upon entering, it was clear there were many more people with tattoos.

Several young people with red and green hair looked at the two of them with less-than-innocent eyes.

What was that like?

Like a pile of excrement seeing a fly, always wanting the fly to take a bite.

This was Ye Lin's first thought.

Several young Xiao Taimei, not much older, walked past the two of them, smoking cigarettes brazenly, and even cast provocative glances.

"These are all migrant workers who've fallen in with some undesirable elements. It's a pity," Chief He said as he walked past.

Ye Lin stopped and grabbed one of the Xiao Taimei.

To her surprise, he snatched the cigarette from her mouth, threw it on the ground, and stomped on it twice.

"Little sister, smoking is bad for your health. Didn't your family tell you?"

The Xiao Taimei froze for a moment, then reacted. "None of your business! What business is it of yours, you stinking cop?"

"Psycho."

With that, she wrenched free from Ye Lin's hand and quickly ran off.

Ye Lin didn't chase her; he simply didn't like seeing these children fall into depravity.

If they were his own children, he would have taken off his shoe and started hitting them long ago.

Even though his mother doted on him, if he really went astray, his mother would definitely hit him harder than his father.

He was already unhappy about coming to the community with He Xinmin, and seeing these children made him even more uncomfortable.

Chief He stopped, pulled him, and continued walking. "Xiao Ye, you'll get used to it. The longer you're a police officer, the more people you see, and you'll get used to it."

"Look, this road goes to the very back of the village. Many tough guys live there; fighting is nothing to them. I'll take you to see them," Chief He consoled him.

If it were when he first started, Ye Lin might have believed him, but now, he didn't buy it.

He had figured it out: following He Xinmin meant his future would involve mediating mother-in-law and daughter-in-law disputes, helping people find lost items, and disciplining children.

Ah.

He envied Lin Xianfeng so much; he was probably already catching thieves by now.

"I'm telling you, there used to be a tough guy here named Wang Dabao. Because of a dispute with the villagers, he killed two people and injured three, then he ran off."

"It was just three years ago. I also participated in the encirclement. That Wang Dabao had practiced martial arts when he was young. Three of us from the station couldn't stop him, and he still managed to escape. Now he's an A-level wanted criminal."

"Isn't it a shame? Alas, if only your master and I had been there then. If I had been, with one 'White Crane Spreads Wings,' I would have pecked out his eyes."

He Xinmin stopped, stood on one leg in the middle of the alley, and crookedly struck a pose of 'White Crane Spreads Wings.'

Ye Lin's face was full of black lines.

Master, don't embarrass yourself outside.

If people know you're my master, how will I ever get by?

The roads in the village were all interconnected, and He Xinmin's position was right at a corner.

Suddenly, a person walked out of the alley, a little over 1.7 meters tall, dressed as a construction worker, with messy hair.

Damn it, who would have thought that turning a corner would reveal a big man standing on one leg? So, when he suddenly saw He Xinmin's 'White Crane Spreads Wings,' he was so startled that he recoiled, and his messy hair flew up.

He Xinmin was about to apologize when suddenly, his expression changed, and he exclaimed.

"Wang Erbao!"

The man's body trembled, and his eyes were as cold and sinister as a venomous snake.
