52: Criminal investigation requires experience. What do you think?

Yu Haifeng frowned deeply. It had been two days since the arrest that night, and there was still no news of Ti Cai. Could he have run away?

It would be a great pity if such a big fish managed to escape.

He looked up at everyone; they all seemed to be at a loss.

Finally, his gaze fell on Ye Lin. This excellent young man, though only there to assist, was someone Yu Haifeng greatly admired. He decided to let him speak to give him some experience.

"Ye Lin, what are your thoughts?"

Ye Lin was sitting in a back row, not very conspicuous among the two dozen people in the room.

Now that Yu Haifeng had spoken, everyone's eyes turned to Ye Lin.

How to put it? Most of the looks were benevolent and encouraging, with not much expectation.

As those in criminal investigation would say, it is an experience-based job. To put it simply, it's like an old Chinese medicine doctor; without a certain accumulation of knowledge and experience, it's hard to pinpoint the key aspects of a case.

So, no one had high expectations for what Ye Lin might say, but Ye Lin had good rapport and was capable, so everyone was still very respectful.

"Uh..." Ye Lin was silent for a moment, then asked, "Brother Zhao, you just said you left someone to monitor where Wu Shuangyuan lives?"

"Yes, I left two auxiliary police brothers there to watch."

"Did you see Wu Shuangyuan?"

"Yes, the community security guard saw him yesterday morning, but he hasn't appeared since then."

Ye Lin pondered silently, then suddenly stood up and humbly said, "Team Leader Yu, senior brothers, as a newcomer, I'll just say a few words. Please correct me if I'm wrong."

"Stop playing games. Just say what's on your mind. We're all familiar with each other," Yu Haifeng said with an encouraging smile.

"Exactly! We all admire your heroic deeds. That Wang Jun is terrified just hearing your name now."

"Hahahaha."

The atmosphere in the conference room immediately became lively.

Yu Haifeng motioned with his hand for everyone to quiet down and let Ye Lin speak.

Ye Lin took a deep breath and said, "According to Zhang Yongqiang, Ti Cai came this time for a very important mission. He wouldn't possibly let Wu Shuangyuan go."

"And Wu Shuangyuan sent his wife and children away at the beginning of the year, but he didn't leave himself. He probably already knew Ti Cai would come looking for him."

Everyone nodded.

"Since Wu Shuangyuan has such important things, is there a possibility that Ti Cai has actually been with Wu Shuangyuan the whole time, or rather, since the incident that night, he has already infiltrated Wu Shuangyuan's house?"

"Therefore, we haven't been able to find him, and Wu Shuangyuan hasn't appeared again since yesterday morning."

Yu Haifeng suddenly stood up and said in a deep voice, "You mean Ti Cai is actually in Wu Shuangyuan's villa?"

"Yes, and Wu Shuangyuan should be under his control. As for whether he's dead or alive, that's hard to say," Ye Lin said.

Ye Lin's conjecture immediately sparked discussion among everyone. It seemed quite reasonable as an explanation.

Or rather, it was the only reasonable explanation.

"Captain, I think Ye Lin makes sense. How about we secretly go in and check to confirm Wu Shuangyuan's status?" Zhao Jianfeng suggested.

"Alright, we'll go together. Everyone follow, bring your guns. If it's really as Xiao Ye suspects, Wu Shuangyuan is probably dead," Yu Haifeng decided.

"Uh, Xiao Wang, take Xiao Ye to get a gun, and then we'll gather at the entrance."

"Got it!"

The Branch Bureau's armory was much grander and had more variety than the Police Station's. Ye Lin even saw sniper rifles.

Cool!

"What? Interested in sniper rifles?" Wang Longxin teased.

"Hmm, they're cool."

"Don't even think about it, brother. We don't use those. We all use pistols."

"Come on, sign here and get your gun."

Soon, Wang Longxin helped Ye Lin retrieve a pistol from the armory.

"Have you used one before? Do you know what kind of gun this is?" Wang Longxin held the pistol in his hand, testing Ye Lin.

"Type 92, effective range 50 meters, 15-round magazine," Ye Lin replied calmly.

He snatched it from Wang Longxin's hand, and with a few clicks, the pistol was completely disassembled.

"Hey, don't disassemble the gun carelessly. This is equipment; you need to take care of it," the senior brother in charge of the guns reminded him.

Ye Lin smiled faintly, his hands moving rapidly. In a few seconds, a complete gun was reassembled.

"Damn! A master!" The senior brother in charge of the guns immediately gave a thumbs-up. "That speed, you could compete."

"Amazing! You learned well in school!" Wang Longxin, standing by, was also full of admiration. "The first time I held a gun, I was completely lost."

Ye Lin smiled faintly. This wasn't something he learned in school; it was a skill given by the system. When he touched the gun, Ye Lin felt it. The [Firearms Mastery] skill not only meant he could use a gun but also improved shooting accuracy. Within 50 meters, he could get a headshot.

Outside, Yu Haifeng and the others were already waiting in the car. Seeing the two approach, he threw them two bulletproof vests.

"Put these on; they're for saving your life."

"Xiao Ye, this might be your first time with a gun. Don't be nervous. Most of the time, we don't need to shoot. Just relax."

Yu Haifeng began to prepare Ye Lin psychologically.

Many new police officers have this problem. Even if they've learned and fired guns in school, when they actually face criminals, they become incredibly nervous. Forget about shooting accurately; they might not even be able to fire the gun.

This is a common occurrence.

"Captain, he doesn't need it. This guy disassembles guns better than the armory staff," Wang Longxin said while putting on a jacket over his bulletproof vest.

"That fierce? Did you specifically practice before?" Yu Haifeng looked at Ye Lin curiously.

"It's alright, I have some experience."

"Alright then, I'm relieved. Otherwise, I'd just be helping Old Xie train a newcomer," Yu Haifeng joked.

"Let's go, depart!"

Two plain-licensed vans, carrying eight people, quietly drove out of the Police Station.

By the time they reached the entrance of Jinxiu Garden, it was 4 PM, and the two auxiliary police officers were still guarding the entrance.

"Did you see Wu Shuangyuan?"

"No, didn't see him all day."

"Let's go, we'll go in and check."

Several people split into two groups and entered the community, heading separately towards Wu Shuangyuan's home.

In a high-end villa community, there weren't many people to begin with, so their entry wasn't conspicuous.

Wu Shuangyuan's villa was a two-story building with the doors tightly shut. Looking through the floor-to-ceiling windows on the first floor, everything inside seemed normal, with no one visible.

However, this didn't prove anything; he might be on the second floor.

Yu Haifeng was a bit hesitant about whether to go inside and check. He had asked the security guard to knock on the door earlier, but there was no response, so he wasn't sure what the situation was inside.
