99: The first crime scene was discovered

Suddenly, Ye Lin stopped about 3 meters from the large pit, squatted down, and started digging.

"Tsk, he's quite good at putting on airs," Zhou Zhishen said disdainfully.

Guan Hongyuan said sarcastically, "Young Master Kang and Young Master Fang both trust him. Do you think he has the right to put on airs?"

Zhou Zhishen glanced at Guan Hongyuan and gasped, "That Young Master Fang?"

"Nonsense, who else could it be besides that Young Master Fang?"

"No wonder he could become a Consultant, he's clinging to Young Master Fang's coattails."

The two of them whispered gossip behind him.

Suddenly, Ye Lin, who was squatting on the ground in front, shouted loudly, "Team Leader Guan, I found something."

"Ah?" Guan Hongyuan looked at Zhou Zhishen in surprise, and they ran over together.

Ye Lin was squatting on the ground, and a small patch of leaves had been cleared, revealing the black soil beneath.

Ye Lin had dug a small pit in the soil, and a dark red clod of earth lay conspicuously inside.

"What is this?" Zhou Zhishen asked, puzzled.

Ye Lin said calmly, "If I'm not mistaken, this should be the blood of the two victims."

When Guan Hongyuan heard that this was the victims' bloodstains, he looked back at the location of the large pit—3 meters, such a long distance.

If this was true, then the large pit was not the primary crime scene.

He excitedly squatted down, carefully pulled out a pair of tweezers from his pocket, and meticulously picked up the dark red clod of earth.

His careful attitude was completely different from when Ye Lin had given him the clod of earth before.

A smell of blood, it was indeed the smell of blood, Guan Hongyuan was overjoyed.

"Ye Lin, how did you find this? It's too exaggerated!" Guan Hongyuan asked excitedly.

Zhou Zhishen: "Exactly, it was still buried in the dirt. Did you really smell it?"

Ye Lin smiled indifferently, "My nose has been quite sensitive since I was a child."

"Damn it! Brother, this isn't sensitivity, it's a divine skill," Zhou Zhishen said jokingly.

"There are bloodstains here, so where is the primary scene?" Guan Hongyuan looked towards the exit of the forest.

Solving a case, the primary scene is very important because there may be first-hand clues there, as well as things the killer couldn't move.

According to Locard's exchange principle, the golden rule of criminal investigation:

As long as someone enters a crime scene, they will definitely leave clues; they will surely take some things and leave some things behind.

And the primary scene is usually the place with the richest clues.

Ye Lin didn't respond, but continued walking outwards. After walking about 2 meters, he stopped again.

He started pushing aside leaves on the ground.

Guan Hongyuan and Zhou Zhishen exchanged glances, their eyes full of surprise. Could Ye Lin still find more?

The two walked over, and Ye Lin had already skillfully dug out another dark red clod of earth from the soil.

"Another one!" Guan Hongyuan exclaimed in surprise, "Quick, quickly get the evidence bag."

Zhou Zhishen excitedly pulled out an evidence bag, his hands trembling slightly.

If they took this back for the Forensic Doctor to examine, and if it was real, it would be a major breakthrough, indicating that the primary scene was not in the large pit.

The two happily put the clods of earth into the bag.

On the other side, Ye Lin walked out again, holding a branch and poking it into the ground as he went.

"There's some here."

"There's some here too."

As Ye Lin walked along, nearly 10 branches were stuck in the ground, all the way to about 20 meters from the edge of the forest, which was also the area with the most debris and trash.

He turned his gaze to a pile of trash. He didn't know how many people had dumped trash here; cardboard boxes, plastic bags, and empty bottles were vaguely piled up into a small mound.

"What? Is there a problem?" Guan Hongyuan's eyes gleamed as he looked at the pile of trash.

If Ye Lin said yes, he estimated he would rush over immediately.

Ye Lin nodded, "That's the place. That should be the primary crime scene."

"Quick, Old Zhou, come with me!" Guan Hongyuan shouted, ignoring how dirty the trash was, and rushed straight over.

"Coming!" Zhou Zhishen was also full of energy now.

What do people fear when investigating a case? Not hardship or exhaustion, but a lack of clues.

As for whether it's dirty or not, that's completely unimportant.

Soon, with their combined efforts, the trash was cleared away, revealing the bare soil underneath.

"Nothing here," Guan Hongyuan asked, wiping away sweat.

"It's underneath, in the dirt."

Old Zhou heard this and gently scraped away the top layer of soil.

Red!

A large patch of red!

Zhou Zhishen's breathing became rapid. He didn't dare to touch it with his hands. He found a few leaves and slowly began to clear it away.

More and more red soil appeared, and his expression changed from excitement to solemnity. This was it.

Guan Hongyuan pulled out his phone and called Xiao Peng: "Gather everyone, notify forensics, and assemble at the crime scene."

"Team Leader, what happened?" Xiao Peng's puzzled voice came from the phone.

"We found the primary crime scene, hurry."

Team Leader Guan hung up the phone, squatted down, and began clearing the topsoil with Ye Lin and Zhou Zhishen.

The clearing work was very careful and time-consuming, but fortunately, Ye Lin's nose greatly sped up their progress.

Half an hour later, a team of police cars arrived, and everyone from the Special Task Force got out.

"Team Leader Guan!"

"Team Leader Guan!"

Guan Hongyuan stood up with a serious expression and said to everyone, "Ye Lin has discovered the primary crime scene. Now, everyone begin setting up a perimeter and start searching for evidence outwards, using the crime scene as the center."

At this point, Guan Hongyuan also said to his colleagues from forensics, "Old Huang, we've found some blood samples. We'll need you to take them back and run a comparison to see if they belong to the victims."

"Alright!" Old Huang responded.

Looking at the bustling scene, Guan Hongyuan smiled with satisfaction, then turned to Ye Lin, who was standing beside him, and gave him a thumbs up, "Officer Ye, amazing, truly amazing."

Ye Lin touched his nose and humbly brushed off the praise.

Finding the primary scene excited Team Leader Guan, but the on-site search for evidence yielded nothing. There was nothing they could do; there were all sorts of items here, and looking at the footprints on the ground, there were thousands, if not tens of thousands, so all clues were gone.

Soon, Zhou Zhishen, who was leading the evidence search, walked over with a dejected expression, "Team Leader Guan, no discoveries."

"It's okay. Let's wait for Old Huang and his team to get the results. At least there's been a breakthrough in the case. Let's head back."

...Special Task Force conference room.

Guan Hongyuan cleared his throat, "Everyone, quiet down. The case analysis meeting is now starting."

The previously chattering conference room immediately fell silent. Guan Hongyuan stood up, stood in front of the projector, and began to summarize the previous information.

"This morning, I, Old Zhou, and Consultant Ye revisited the scene. Under Consultant Ye's careful investigation, a series of bloodstains were discovered outside the burial site, ultimately leading to the discovery of the primary crime scene."
