128: Yinshajiang 11.3 Case Analysis Meeting
“Damn it, it's not like you're not in Yuezhou anymore. We'll all have a chance to meet again in the future, what are you afraid of?” Yu Haifeng cursed with a smile.
Ye Lin looked at the two corpses being cleaned out of the sacks and suddenly felt a strong urge. Since everyone was so fated, he would find out the truth for them.
“Alright, I'll go.” Ye Lin nodded.
Yu Haifeng was overjoyed when he heard this. “Great! With you here, our Criminal Investigation Brigade will have much more confidence in solving cases.”
“Ye Lin is coming over? That's great, haha.” Wang Longxin and Zhao Jianfeng, who had worked with Ye Lin before, also walked over.
“You guys need to work hard. Look at Xiao Ye, learn from him.” Yu Haifeng teased.
“He's an animal. Diving for 5 minutes, I can't do that.” Wang Longxin joked.
“Exactly. And he went into the water so many times. If it were me, I would have cramped up long ago. Captain, we can compare ourselves to people, but not to an animal like him.” Zhao Jianfeng also joined in the teasing.
“You guys…” Ye Lin smiled.
Soon, Yu Haifeng called the Branch Bureau, and Gao Dawen directly ordered Ye Lin to be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Brigade of the Xishan District Branch Bureau.
However, for these two days, Ye Lin still had to stay with the Police Station to finish the remaining work. After all, such a big incident had occurred, and there was still a lot of work to be done, such as settling the injured and taking statements from the driver of the offending cargo ship.
Xie Changkun had no objections to Ye Lin being transferred to the Branch Bureau; it was bound to happen sooner or later.
The next afternoon, the rescued people jointly sent a pennant to the Police Station, with several large characters written on it:
“People's Guardian, the kindness of saving lives will never be forgotten!”
Although it was just a pennant worth a few dozen yuan, it once again warmed the hearts of the entire Police Station.
Huang Xuliang represented the Police Station and took a photo with the citizens who sent the pennant. Afterwards, he solemnly hung the pennant on the Police Station's wall of honor.
Ye Lin looked at this wall of honor and thought, “Perhaps I really am starting to like being a police officer…” Xishan Branch Bureau.
In the meeting room of the Criminal Investigation Brigade, Ye Lin sat calmly, listening to the case analysis.
The news of two bodies being recovered from the river spread quickly. There were already many people at the scene yesterday, and coupled with the news of the marathon and the bridge collapse, and then the miraculous discovery of the bodies, it cast a mysterious veil over the case.
To show its importance, the Branch Bureau appointed Director Gao Dawen as the head of the team and Deputy Director Zheng Yongnian as the deputy head. Of course, Yu Haifeng and his team were still doing the actual work, but it showed that the leaders attached great importance to it.
When he first arrived, Ye Lin greeted Director Zheng, and Zheng Yongnian exclaimed, “I was so worried about not being able to send you off, and now everyone is scrambling to get you. So, looks really aren't that important.”
Ye Lin smiled without speaking. If he didn't have the system, perhaps not choosing him would have been the right decision.
Above, Yu Haifeng first read the Forensic Doctor's report to give everyone a basic understanding of the case.
The two deceased, one male and one female, died approximately seven days ago. The precise time could not be determined, as they had been submerged for so many days.
The male deceased was about 1.76 meters tall, around 40 years old, with an average build, estimated to weigh about 140 pounds.
The female deceased was about 1.58 meters tall, around 35 years old, had a history of childbirth, and was slightly overweight, estimated to weigh about 110 pounds.
Cause of death: Drowning!
Everyone gasped when they heard this. Drowning, it was too cruel. This meant that the two people were tied up alive, placed in sacks, and sunk into the river.
If it wasn't due to deep-seated hatred, then the murderer was an extremely vicious person, commonly known as a desperate criminal.
Yu Haifeng paused and continued to read the report.
“According to preliminary autopsy results, both victims' skulls had varying degrees of fractures, which should have been caused by blunt force trauma.
As for the injuries on their bodies, because they had been submerged in water for too long, muscle and fat tissue were severely lost. Only some traces could be extracted from the remaining skin. Both individuals had suffered abuse before death.
The female victim had lacerations in her lower body, indicating she had been sexually assaulted before death, but no male bodily fluids were extracted, possibly due to prolonged immersion in water.
No other human tissue was found under the victims' fingernails, suggesting they did not resist much before death.”
After reading the report, Yu Haifeng picked up a laser pointer, pointed at the screen, and said solemnly, “Everyone, take a look at the photos for a direct understanding. But before you look, I want to remind everyone to be mentally prepared.”
The lights were dimmed, and several photos appeared on the screen.
The bloated heads looked like watermelons, yellowish-green in color, with both eyeballs protruding, making everyone feel a wave of nausea.
Next were the conditions of the two bodies. The pale flesh was scraped into threads by the river water and sand, and fat had spilled out from inside the bodies, hanging naked on the outside.
“Ugh!”
“Ugh!”
Everyone in the room, except for a few with particularly strong stomachs, began to gag and retch.
Several young people even rushed out directly, unable to bear it any longer.
Ye Lin had already seen them, but seeing such a horrific sight in the photos again, his heart was still filled with anger. It was too cruel.
Director Zheng behind him also couldn't bear it. He had moved up through internal affairs and hadn't handled many specific cases, nor did he often see such gruesome scenes.
There was no other way; since the leader was feeling sick, the subordinates could only wait.
After a while, Director Zheng walked back in, his face pale. He waved his hand, unwilling to say much, signaling Yu Haifeng to continue.
Yu Haifeng nodded and continued:
“The forensics team has some additional information. I'll talk while you look at the photos. This part is relatively normal, so don't worry.” Yu Haifeng didn't forget to remind them.
The first photo was of a rope.
“This is the rope used to bind the two victims. The style is quite common, nothing special. We found body tissue belonging to the two victims within the rope, but nothing else.”
The screen switched photos again, showing two sacks.
“These are the sacks that contained the victims. One of them ruptured for unknown reasons, and Ye Lin later widened the tear when he removed stones from it. They are also ordinary sacks, with no writing on them.”
Ye Lin understood Yu Haifeng's meaning. Sometimes, sacks would have characters written with a brush to distinguish what was inside or whose they were, which would provide an additional clue for their investigation. Without it, it meant there were no useful clues yet.
The photo switched again, showing several fragments of clothing.
“These are the clothes of the two victims. They are severely damaged, and it's generally clear they aren't brand names. It might be difficult to find useful clues from them.”
The image switched. This time, it was the stones that Ye Lin had insisted on salvaging.
