12: Police or Miracle Doctor

“Yes, the child just fell, and there happened to be a small stone on the ground, which, unfortunately, got stuck in the baby’s wrist, and then she wouldn’t stop crying. I couldn’t soothe her no matter what I did.”

The child’s mother kept pleading, hoping Ye Lin would let her husband go. Ye Lin nodded.

She thought Ye Lin had agreed not to pursue her husband and was about to thank him.

Suddenly, Ye Lin moved.

He gently held the little girl’s right wrist, gave it a slight twist, and a push.

“What are you doing!”

The child’s mother exclaimed, pushing Ye Lin away.

“If you dare touch my child, even if you’re a Police Officer, I’ll fight you to the death.”

The people around were stunned. How could this Police Officer be so insensitive, touching someone’s child’s broken bone?

They knew it was a bone; if he messed around, and it couldn’t be set properly later, it would be a lifelong issue.

Everyone started to quietly blame Ye Lin.

The child’s father also didn’t care anymore, jumping up from the ground and glaring at Ye Lin, who was sitting on the ground. If it weren’t for his police uniform, they probably would have started fighting.

Ye Lin stood up, flicked his middle-parted long hair, looked at the angry crowd around him, and said with a smile:

“Are you all angry?”

“Excited?”

The faces of the people around darkened. What the hell, what did he want to do, provoke everyone to hit him, ask for a beating?

Ye Lin looked at the agitated crowd with satisfaction, nodded, “That means everyone still has a strong sense of justice.”

“It’s just that your observational skills are still a bit weak.”

Everyone was confused.

Ye Lin smiled mysteriously,

“Listen, where is the child’s crying?”

Everyone’s scolding stopped abruptly, and they all looked at the little girl with the ‘broken hand’.

The little girl had stopped crying and was lying in her mother’s arms, her small hands moving around restlessly.

The child’s mother excitedly touched the child’s hand; the child didn’t resist at all, and with a backhand, grabbed her mother’s finger.

The child’s mother instantly burst into tears.

“It’s fixed just like that?”

“A miracle doctor, is this a Police Officer or a doctor?”

“Even the best orthopedist at the People’s Hospital wouldn’t have this level, right?”

The surrounding crowd began to discuss, and their gazes towards Ye Lin changed from disgust to reverence.

After all, everyone admires capable people.

“Police Officer, is our daughter really all right?” The child’s mother was still a bit incredulous.

Damn, of course she’s fine with my Grandmaster-level Bone Setting Technique!

Ye Lin proudly tossed his head and said triumphantly, “This is my ancestral bone-setting technique; it cures ailments instantly.”

“She’s fine now, but her arm has a slight fracture. After the doctor arrives, put on a splint and fix it slightly, and she’ll be fine in a week or two.”

The couple thanked him profusely, wanting to pay Ye Lin.

“We People’s Police do not charge fees. Serving the people and solving problems for the people are our Police Officers’ responsibility and duty.”

With that, Ye Lin waved his hand and left gracefully.

I live for the freedom, for the ease.

Haha, this Grandmaster-level Bone Setting Technique is truly amazing!

However, Ye Lin was so absorbed in his own triumph that he didn’t notice two people standing outside: one was Xiao Taimei, the same Xiao Taimei he had reprimanded for smoking in Hengxi Village earlier, and the other was a young hooligan with yellow hair.

“Is it him?” Huang Xuliang asked.

“It’s him.” Xiao Taimei replied in a low voice.

Suddenly, as if gathering her courage, she turned to Huang Xuliang and said, “Brother Huang, maybe we should just forget it.”

“Slap!” Huang Xuliang slapped her across the face without hesitation, a red mark instantly appearing on Xiao Taimei’s face.

Huang Xuliang pointed at her and threatened fiercely, “When is it your turn to lecture me? If I say I’m going to get him, I’m going to get him. You cooperate well, or else your crippled brother’s life might be in danger.”

Xiao Taimei trembled, clutching her face, especially when her brother was mentioned; she was clearly scared, and her eyes toward Huang Xuliang now held a hint of pleading.

“When he comes out alone later, we’ll make our move. You be obedient, and if you do well, we’ll give you money to treat your crippled brother, hehe.” Huang Xuliang laughed arrogantly.

Xiao Taimei lowered her head. Police Officer? Miracle doctor?

A trace of complexity appeared in her eyes… After Huang Xuliang and Old He chatted for a while longer, they left with Ye Lin.

Huang Xuliang went straight home; he had been busy all day, and it was time to get off work.

Ye Lin, on the other hand, took the bus alone back to the station. The station had assigned him a dormitory, so he would temporarily live there.

Yuezhou City wasn’t very big, but it wasn’t small either. By the time he reached Baiyun Road, it was past dinnertime. Ye Lin casually found a noodle shop on the street and quickly ate a couple of bites of beef noodles. The broth was very fresh, which surprised him a little.

After dinner, a satisfied Ye Lin strolled leisurely down the street, humming an unknown tune.

Ahead, a figure suddenly rushed out from a corner.

He ran breathlessly to Ye Lin, “Police Officer, someone is fighting ahead, please go take a look quickly.”

Ye Lin looked closely; she seemed a bit familiar. “Little sister, aren’t you the Xiao Taimei who was smoking?”

Xiao Taimei nodded, “Police Uncle, it’s me. I listened to you and don’t smoke anymore. There’s a fight ahead, and someone’s bleeding. Please go take a look.”

“Ah, you listened just like that?” Ye Lin was stunned for a moment.

Xiao Taimei gave a wry smile, “How about we go see the fight first, and discuss smoking later?”

“Hmm, lead the way. To dare to fight in the jurisdiction of my Baiyun Police Station, they must be tired of living.”

Ye Lin waved his hand and rushed over with Xiao Taimei.

“Also, don’t call me Police Uncle, call me Big Brother, understand, little sister?”

When Xiao Taimei heard this, her foot slipped, and she almost fell.

What kind of Police Officer was this? Why was he concerned about such trivial matters?

Led by Xiao Taimei, Ye Lin quickly arrived at an abandoned factory.

“Police…”

“Police Big Brother.” Xiao Taimei finally managed to change her address.

“They’re inside. I just saw a few people fighting in there with sticks; someone was bleeding.”

Ye Lin looked around. It was a factory, but it seemed to be abandoned. The lights were on inside, the main door was ajar, and there was no sound.

He pulled out his police baton from behind him, told Xiao Taimei to stay put, and tiptoed towards the main door.

Just as he was about to step inside, a small hand pulled him from behind.

Ye Lin turned around and saw it was Xiao Taimei.

“What’s wrong?” Ye Lin said softly.

“No, maybe we should just forget it. I don’t hear anything inside anymore.” Xiao Taimei said with an uncomfortable expression.

“You just hide; don’t be afraid. I’ll just take a look and come right out.” Ye Lin comforted her softly, thinking Xiao Taimei was a bit scared.

Gently pulling his hand free from Xiao Taimei’s, Ye Lin stepped through the factory door.
