120: Back from vacation, relaxed life at the police station

Young Master Fang is a prominent figure, and the opportunities to meet him are rare. This is a great chance.

Ye Lin quietly stepped aside, yielding his position. He understood Su Rongjun's actions; sometimes, there's no other way. This isn't about flattery, but rather the best way to ensure one's efforts bear fruit.

"Su Rongjun? I remember you, Deputy Chief, right?" Young Master Fang seemed to recall a bit.

When Su Rongjun heard that Young Master Fang actually remembered him, his mouth stretched into a wide smile.

"Where's An Yunxi? I remember she was here too?" Young Master Fang suddenly asked.

Everyone exchanged glances, unsure how to answer, fearing they might provoke Young Master Fang further.

"Young Master Fang, An Yunxi is a demoness; she has already been brought to justice. I'll tell you more about it later; you should go back first." Seeing that no one dared to speak, Ye Lin said directly. He believed that the enchantment in Young Master Fang's heart had been dispelled.

"She's a demoness?" Young Master Fang looked puzzled but said nothing more.

Seeing that Young Master Fang didn't go mad, Su Rongjun quickly arranged for him to be sent back.

With Young Master Fang gone, Lü Zhanyong finally dared to approach.

"Thank you, Officer Ye, thank you." He grasped Ye Lin's hand, thanking him profusely. What could be more satisfying than personally apprehending the murderer of his own son?

"Shaohui can finally rest in peace down there." Lü Zhanyong's old tears streamed down his face.

Ye Lin shook his head. Losing a child in old age truly wasn't just a figure of speech. After comforting him for a few moments, the group escorted An Yunxi back to prepare for interrogation.

This time, An Yunxi no longer denied her involvement. In front of the video, she confessed to her crimes, and the Yue Province University of Technology case was solved.

Huang Wen's parents never imagined that such a venomous woman would be their son's killer and strongly demanded the death penalty. But that's a story for later.

Liu Dong's older brother merely listened to the news indifferently. For him, who the murderer was didn't matter; what mattered was that his younger brother was gone, and with him, the family's hope.

Ye Lin looked at the honest, simple farmer before him and couldn't bear it. He took out 100,000 yuan and gave it to him, tricking him into believing it was a government-issued bereavement payment. Only then did a glimmer of spirit appear on the farmer's face.

After the demoness case was concluded, Ye Lin's vacation also came to an end. Before his departure, Young Master Fang invited him to a private meal to express his gratitude.

"Brother, from now on in Yue Province, if anyone dares to bully you, just call me, and I'll rush over to take care of it for you." This was Young Master Fang's promise to Ye Lin before his departure... Yuezhou.

Returning from his vacation, Ye Lin arrived back at the Police Station and was immediately met with the warmest welcome.

"Oh, look who it is, our little hero is back!"

"Senior Apprentice Ye, you're finally back! The Police Station has a lot of work piled up waiting for you to do."

"Xiao Ye, you must have time for blind dates now, right? Sister He has plenty of girls waiting here."

"Good apprentice, come, let Master see, have you gained weight, haha."

Returning to the Police Station gave Ye Lin a feeling of coming home. Everyone looked at him with kind eyes. Perhaps the An Yunxi case had left him with some psychological shadows, and returning to this simple environment felt better.

As a group of people chatted, Xie Changkun and Huang Xuliang walked in from outside. Upon seeing Ye Lin return, they happily said:

"Xiao Ye is back! Perfect, there's a big task in a couple of days, and we're short-handed. Your return is just in time to fill in."

Ye Lin feigned a pained expression, "Chief Xie, I just got back, and you're already thinking of me."

"Hmph, don't give me that. You're not one to sit still either." Xie Changkun unceremoniously exposed him.

"Come, come, since everyone's here, I have something to say. I just returned from a district meeting, and there's a task. Everyone, let's go to the conference room for a meeting." Xie Changkun called out.

In the conference room, everyone from the Police Station was present, except for those on outdoor duty.

Xie Changkun cleared his throat and said, "First, we welcome the return of Ye Lin. He is a great hero of our Police Station! The Municipal Bureau leaders have used him as an example quite a bit, and our Police Station has also received a lot of praise because of him."

A thunderous applause erupted, a testament to their recognition of Ye Lin. Ye Lin quickly stood up and bowed in acknowledgment.

Once the applause subsided, Xie Changkun then said, "In a couple of days, there's a task. It's not dangerous, but it requires a lot of people, so everyone needs to participate. I'll give a brief overview first."

Immediately, the sound of notebooks being opened rustled throughout the room.

"You should all have heard, marathon competitions are very popular now."

"The day after tomorrow is our Yuezhou Marathon. The City Leaders attach great importance to it, so every Police Station needs to send people to maintain order. Our main area will be along the Yinsha River."

"Comrades, although this task isn't very difficult, because marathons are attended by international friends, everyone still needs to raise their awareness, guard their positions, and ensure no problems arise."

Xie Changkun then roughly explained the specific route of the task. The Baiyun Police Station was responsible for the section of the Yinsha River at the Third Bridge, but not crossing the bridge, just a little over a kilometer along the Riverside.

It wasn't a long stretch. If all 20 people from the Police Station went out, it would basically be two people every 100 meters.

Since the competition was scheduled for the day after tomorrow, Xie Changkun immediately divided the groups. Ye Lin was still with his master He Xinmin, assigned to the entrance of the Third Bridge.

This was a consideration for Ye Lin, as that entrance not only had police but also traffic police, making the defense stronger.

As a Police Station, such events were common, and everyone was proficient. Without much more discussion, the meeting concluded.

After the meeting, Xie Changkun spoke with Ye Lin privately for a while longer, mainly about his personal matters. The Branch Bureau wanted to transfer him, and Gao Dawen was very keen on him.

"Didn't we say before that some City leader thought I wasn't steady enough or something?" Ye Lin clearly remembered that his transfer before his vacation had been suppressed.

"I don't know either. Anyway, this time the City didn't say anything. Maybe someone vouched for you, or maybe you found someone." Xie Changkun said with a smile.

"I found nothing. Staying at the Police Station is perfectly fine."

In fact, Ye Lin genuinely didn't care. Whether it was the Police Station or the Branch Bureau, they just had different divisions of labor. Not only detectives are good police officers.

However, he guessed that it might have been some of the big figures from the provincial capital who spoke up, as his vacation had been quite eventful.

"If you can stay at the Police Station, of course I'd be happy. But with your abilities, it's a bit of a waste not to go to a larger platform."

"Just as long as you don't mess around and don't get disciplined." Xie Changkun still leaned towards having Ye Lin go to the Branch Bureau or the Municipal Bureau.

Ye Lin was speechless. He didn't want to be disciplined either, alright? It was the system that forced him back then.

After a brief chat, the two went their separate ways to attend to their duties.
