29: Tomorrow night, we'll pay for the goods

With a dull thud, the henchman was kicked flying, soaring over the sofa booths and crashing into a pile of tables and chairs.

“Ah—”

The terrified guests, who had been reveling, scattered and fled.

Immediately after, Ye Lin's legs seemed to be enchanted, striking left and right. The few henchmen Mad Face had brought were quickly kicked to the ground, lying there groaning incessantly.

Chaos began to spread through the bar. Seeing the fight, a group of young men and women rushed towards the exit, startling the security guards at the door.

By the time the two security guards entered, the once bustling bar had become empty.

Only Ye Lin and Mad Face remained standing.

Suddenly, Mad Face moved. With a flick of his hand, he pulled out a dagger. “Swish, swish, swish,” he lunged forward three times in quick succession.

Ye Lin took a step back, quickly moving to the center of the dance floor, where it was more spacious and suitable for using his feet.

Mad Face's eyes were bloodshot, and his hair flew wildly as he charged like a madman.

The dagger in his hand flickered rapidly up and down. With a “swish,” it cut Ye Lin's arm, and a streak of blood flew out.

Ye Lin frowned, thinking, “Damn, he’s playing for real, isn’t he?”

He had originally thought Mad Face was a minor boss and wanted to draw out Brother Yong, so he didn't want to be too harsh. But now, Ye Lin didn't care anymore.

“Nima, no wonder he’s called Mad Face; he fights like a lunatic.”

Mad Face's dagger aimed directly at Ye Lin's face.

Ye Lin snorted coldly, leaned back, propped himself on one hand, and delivered a precise high-roundhouse kick to Mad Face's wrist with his right foot.

In pain, Mad Face's dagger flew from his grasp and clanged to the ground.

Ye Lin immediately followed with a sweeping kick to Mad Face's right foot.

Mad Face's body swayed, and he fell sideways, crashing heavily to the ground, dazed and disoriented.

As he slowly regained consciousness, one of Ye Lin's large feet kicked him, sending him flying across the dance floor like a ball.

He crashed into a pile of tables and chairs.

Mad Face felt a wave of pain throughout his body, as if all his bones had come loose; the pain was unbearable.

Before he could recover, Ye Lin's foot arrived again. With a bang, Mad Face truly became a bowling ball, knocking over four tables in a row before stopping.

Mad Face was finished. He was in pain, his whole body ached, and his waist felt like it was about to break.

A thuggish face appeared above him. Ye Lin squatted down and patted his face.

“How about it? Do you still think you’re worthy?”

Mad Face's face showed a flicker of fear, and his body involuntarily tensed up.

“No… not worthy.”

“Brother Sheng, Brother Sheng, I understand. I’ll call my boss, Brother Yong.”

Mad Face was already scared. Even with his nickname “Mad Face,” he wasn't as crazy as this guy. No wonder he could be a snakehead.

Ye Lin stood up and looked at the wound on his arm. Fortunately, it wasn't deep. He glared at Mad Face.

“If it weren't for the fact that you’re still useful, I would cripple you today.”

“Tomorrow, bring your boss. I’ll bring a million in cash. If you dare to deceive me, don't blame me for being ruthless.”

With that, Ye Lin stepped over Mad Face, walked back to the booth, picked up his satchel, and walked out.

The two security guards at the entrance stood aside obediently, not daring to breathe a word.

Outside the door, the men and women who had fled in fear earlier were hiding in various corners, observing.

Ye Lin put on his sunglasses and disappeared into the darkness... The next day, as soon as he arrived at work, Ye Lin rushed into Chief Xie's office.

Xie Changkun was watering flowers with his back to the door. Hearing someone rush in without even knocking, he was about to get angry.

But then he saw it was our popular Xiao Ye, and immediately put on a smiling face.

“What’s wrong, Xiao Ye? Not used to sleeping at the Police Station?” Xie Changkun asked, looking at Ye Lin, who had two dark circles under his eyes.

“Chief, I have a major discovery,” Ye Lin said excitedly. He hadn't slept for half the night, just thinking about how to report it in the morning.

“Another wanted criminal?” Xie Changkun exclaimed, his hand shaking the watering can, spilling water outside.

Ye Lin smiled mysteriously, “Chief, where would we find so many wanted criminals? But there are drug dealers.”

“What? Drug dealers? In our jurisdiction?” Xie Changkun was severely startled.

Drug dealers were the most ruthless kind of people, desperate outlaws. Wherever there were drug dealers, the crime rate was bound to skyrocket.

Moreover, these drug dealers were very difficult to catch, posing a very troublesome problem for the Police Station.

Xie Changkun put down the watering can, took out his Baolianhua cigarettes, and offered one. “Tell me, what did you discover?”

Ye Lin lit the cigarette, calmed himself down, and recounted everything from Jiang Waner revealing the information to him venturing alone into Red Moon Bar last night, fighting Mad Face, and arranging for Brother Yong to bring the goods tonight.

The thrilling narrative made Xie Changkun's heart pound. The cigarette in his hand burned down to his fingers, and he quickly flicked it away in pain.

“Where's your injury? Let me see.” Old Xie's first concern was always his subordinates. Having been a police officer for so many years, he understood that life was the most important thing; criminals could always be caught again, but if life was lost, everything was lost.

Ye Lin rolled up his sleeve and showed Xie Changkun. “It’s nothing, just a scratch.”

Xie Changkun looked, breathed a sigh of relief, then his expression changed. He looked at Ye Lin with a serious face.

“Did you think about the consequences? Did you think about who you were facing? If you went in alone and were exposed, it would be death!”

Xie Changkun's tone grew heavier and heavier, and by the end, he was pounding the table.

Everyone working in the outer Department Leaders curiously looked towards the Chief's office.

“Who’s in there?”

“Is the Chief already scolding someone this early in the morning?”

He Xinmin walked over with a cup of tea, saying proudly, “Usually, when I tell you to work hard, you don’t listen, so you deserve to be scolded. Look, like my apprentice Xiao Ye, how obedient and capable he is. He’s always praised by the leaders.”

He Wenyan gave He Xinmin a cold glance. “Heh heh, it’s your apprentice, the one praised by the leaders, who’s in there.”

“What!” He Xinmin exclaimed, spitting out a mouthful of tea.

In the office, after Xie Changkun finished criticizing Ye Lin, Ye Lin still wore a playful smile.

“Be serious! I’m teaching you how to protect yourself!”

Xie Changkun was so frustrated. How could such an excellent talent not listen to advice?

“Chief, I have an idea.”

“Speak.”

“Tonight, when I go to trade with Brother Yong, you all stay outside. When I give the signal, you swarm in and surround him. Our Police Station should at least get a collective third-class merit, right?”

Xie Changkun's heart stirred. “Damn, that is a bit tempting.”

However, thinking about the ruthlessness of drug dealers and looking at the old police officers outside who were busy with public order and household registration matters every day, he really didn't have the confidence to fight drug dealers.
