179: People are going to run away!
"What orders are we executing? Your Branch Bureau doesn't do anything but assign tasks to the grassroots."
"Exactly! Promotions and commendations go to the people in the Branch Bureau, while all the hard work falls on us at the Police Station."
"Yeah, yeah, it's the same with some reception tasks; they just dump them on us."
"Hmm, and all sorts of inspections, it's so annoying."
The more the people below chatted, the more the atmosphere shifted.
Ye Lin's forehead was covered in black lines. How much resentment did they have towards the Branch Bureau? It seemed that even if Chen Bin was arrested, Director Gao would have a lot of trouble to deal with later.
A large crowd gathered around Yu Haifeng and his group, listing one unfair treatment after another.
Just then, no one noticed that the culprit, Chen Bin, had already quietly retreated a few steps.
His few trusted associates intentionally stepped forward, immediately blocking him from view.
Chen Bin was overjoyed at the sight. He ducked and slipped out the door, running from the second floor to the first in a few steps.
However, the front door was already blocked, so he pretended to turn around and walked straight towards the back door.
"Where is he!" Ye Lin was the first to notice Chen Bin was gone and shouted.
Yu Haifeng finally reacted, looking at the still-Surrounded crowd, and shouted, "Chen Bin is suspected of murder! Do you want to go down with him?"
Murder!
This bombshell news stunned everyone.
Everyone thought for a moment. This was the Criminal Police Team; they wouldn't show up for non-criminal cases. Could Chief Chen really be suspected of murder?
At this, everyone stopped arguing and started to shrink back. They all studied law, and at this point, obstructing would make them accomplices.
Accomplices to murder, tsk tsk, they'd be going to jail.
Seeing everyone retreat, an old police officer sitting in the back sneered disdainfully. He had understood it earlier; these simpletons were so easily fooled.
He stood up directly, pointed to the window on the other side of the conference room, and said loudly, "Chief Chen went downstairs and is going to leave through the back door."
Ye Lin didn't have time to thank him. He leaned out and saw that, indeed, Chen Bin was already in the backyard, about to escape.
"Stop!" Ye Lin shouted.
Chen Bin below looked back and exclaimed, "Holy crap!"
Ye Lin actually jumped directly from the second-floor window! One had to know this was a tall floor, with each story nearly five meters high.
The people in the conference room upstairs also didn't expect Ye Lin to just jump out like that. Several female officers screamed in fright, and a few old police officers who understood the gravity of the situation also stood up in shock.
This was not like in movies, where the protagonist can jump from any height. In reality, anything over 3 meters requires extreme caution, and without special training, it's easy to sprain an ankle, or even break a bone, which is normal.
Now, this was nearly 5 meters high! In mid-air, Ye Lin's body stretched out, flying down like a large bird.
As he was about to land, he pulled his body in, bent his knees slightly, and performed a somersault on the spot, then stood up seamlessly. There was no delay at all; the many skills the system gave him were not for nothing.
Awesome!
Chen Bin was terrified by what he saw. Why didn't this kid sprain his ankle?
His obese body was no match for Ye Lin. Ye Lin grabbed him by the collar, yanked him hard, dragged him back from the back door's archway, and threw him heavily to the ground.
Ye Lin didn't waste words. He went up, pinned Chen Bin down, performed a reverse hold, and immediately put on the handcuffs.
This guy had fled, so he definitely had issues. Originally, if he was just assisting with the investigation, he wouldn't have been cuffed, but now Ye Lin had no qualms; if it was necessary, he would do it.
"Ouch, gently, gently!" Chen Bin cried out in pain on the ground.
The people handling business in the front hall also heard the commotion and gathered around.
"Isn't that Chief Chen? How did he get arrested?"
"This is something new! Police arresting police! Hurry, take a video and post it online."
"Move aside, move aside! Police are handling a case; no filming!" Yu Haifeng pushed his way through.
The others also quickly pushed their way in, dispersing the few people who were still taking pictures.
Yu Haifeng walked up to Chen Bin, looked at him still struggling on the ground, and snorted twice, "Chen Bin, what do you have to say for yourself?"
"Team Leader Yu, I just came down to use the restroom. I don't know what you're talking about. If you want me to cooperate, I'll cooperate. What do you mean by this?" Chen Bin rubbed his face on the ground, looking comical, but his mouth was still stubborn.
"Use the restroom? Chen Bin, you're just bluffing," Ye Lin cursed.
Ye Lin hadn't been this angry originally, but Chen Bin's earlier trick of inciting his subordinates to surround them had really infuriated him.
When his own misdeeds came to light, he still tried to drag his brothers down with him. Luckily, nothing serious happened, but if there had been any problems upstairs, it would have been a big deal, and a few might have faced disciplinary action.
Ye Lin despised people who harmed their own brothers, so he was much harsher with his actions.
"You're acting recklessly! I haven't broken the law; you can't handcuff me!" Chen Bin shouted loudly.
"Lin Zi, uncuff him," Yu Haifeng said seriously.
Ye Lin looked up at Yu Haifeng and immediately understood his meaning.
Indeed, there was currently no evidence of Chen Bin's crime. He was only being asked to assist with the investigation, so handcuffing him was indeed inappropriate.
Ye Lin sneered, quickly stood up from the ground, uncuffed Chen Bin, and then pulled him up from the ground.
"No handcuffs. Now, can you come with us?"
"I'll go, I'll go. What am I afraid of? I haven't done anything. You're being so reckless, I'm definitely going to report this to the Municipal Bureau, to the City Leaders." Chen Bin, having gotten up from the ground, immediately regained his arrogance.
"Report your grandpa!" Ye Lin didn't indulge him. He went up and kicked him in the back of the knee, making Chen Bin's knees buckle and almost sending him to his knees.
Chen Bin staggered, then started shouting at the onlookers, "Hey, they're hitting me! You all saw it! The Branch Bureau leaders are hitting people!"
"Just go. Do you think you still have a chance to turn things around?" Ye Lin grabbed Chen Bin, pushed him into the front yard, and put him in the police car.
Under everyone's shocked gaze, Yu Haifeng waved his hand, and four police cars roared away.
"This... the Chief was arrested. Should we call the police?" A young auxiliary police officer mumbled.
Bang!
A sharp tap on the head.
"We are the police. Who are we going to report to?"
...Blue Garden Community.
By the time Ye Lin and his team arrived, it was already past 3 PM. A group of people went straight to Building 5 and headed directly for the rooftop.
The elderly men and women around were now energized. Roughly a dozen police officers! This must be something big.
"Aunt Zhang, they're going to your unit!" A nosy old man said to an old woman.
