44: Infinite Stamina Potion, if you don't run away, I'll catch up

He used half of his strength to fight against the Jiang River.

His already limited stamina was now depleting even faster.

But Wang Jun was clearly an old hand, accustomed to such situations, moving like a fish in water.

Ye Lin swam less than 150 meters before he was done for; his legs stopped moving, unable to budge, with only his two hands stillreluctantly paddling.

He couldn't take it anymore; he had no stamina left.

Stamina?

Suddenly, Ye Lin remembered the [Infinite Stamina Potion] the system had just given him.

Drink!

He just needed to replenish his stamina, or he would die in the Jiang River.

With a flip of his right hand underwater, a bottle of potion appeared in his grasp. He plunged his head under, and drank the potion while submerged.

Refreshing!

Invigorating!

His previously sore and aching body felt as if it had been fully recharged, filled with inexhaustible strength from head to toe.

Let's go!

This darn system is awesome.

The incredibly excited Ye Lin shot out of the water, his two hands churning like machines.

The unusual noise from behind made Wang Jun instinctively look back.

What the heck is that?

A person or a water monster?

He saw a white line cutting across the Jiang River surface as Ye Lin rapidly closed in on him.

He must have taken drugs, Wang Jun grumbled.

Gazing at the now within-reach riverbank, he surged forward, reaching the shore in a few strokes.

Behind him, Ye Lin was still two hundred meters away.

Beast!

Wang Jun cursed under his breath, and started running with his already exhausted body.

Come on!

Swim and then run, let's see if you drop dead!

Wang Jun was inwardly smug; he had specifically trained for this.

Even in his current state, another marathon would be no problem for him.

A few minutes after Wang Jun reached the shore, Ye Lin also swam to the opposite bank.

Comfortable, this swim was truly comfortable. Ye Lin even felt like jumping back in for another lap.

However, seeing the already distant Wang Jun ahead, Ye Lin suppressed this silly urge and started running after Wang Jun.

On the opposite bank of the Jiang River, Yu Haifeng rubbed his eyes, then turned to Wang Longxin and asked, "Little Wang, is this kid Ye Lin even human?"

"I don't think he is, he's a beast!"

"Mm..." Everyone nodded in agreement.

Soon, a car drove up. It was Captain Zhou of Xingqiao District. "Get in, we'll cross over from the big bridge there."

"Captain Zhou, thank you so much. How long will it take to get there from here?"

"If there's no traffic, about 20 minutes. If there's traffic, it's hard to say. What's wrong?" Zhou Tiansheng asked.

"Uh, we have another colleague chasing over on the opposite bank..."

"Huh?"

"Swam across?"

"Swam across!"

"..."

"Xiao He, speed up, turn on the siren."

"Whoosh—"

The police car, carrying a full load of people, sped off.

On the opposite bank, Wang Jun had already run quite a distance. As a marathon runner, he quickly adjusted his breathing, settling into his most comfortable stride. This was the most important aspect of long-distance running.

Huff!

Huff!

Wang Jun breathed evenly, filled with confidence.

He looked back and exclaimed, "Damn it, that guy actually caught up!"

Behind him, Ye Lin was following at a slightly faster pace, and the distance between them was gradually shrinking.

Wang Jun frowned slightly, thinking, "What does he want? Does he think he can catch me?"

"Watch me accelerate."

He adjusted his stride, and his speed immediately increased, slowly widening the distance from Ye Lin.

Behind him, Ye Lin revealed a triumphant smile. "Little guy, I'm going to run you into the ground."

Now, Ye Lin had nothing but strength; speed and everything else were mere trifles. He just wanted to push Wang Jun to his limit, to completely break his confidence.

Wang Jun's acceleration was exactly what he wanted. Ye Lin also sped up a little, and the distance between them narrowed again.

Soon, they were within a hundred meters of each other.

"Hey, brother, can't run anymore? I'm about to catch up to you." Ye Lin shouted at the top of his lungs.

Wang Jun's heart tightened. He looked back while running. "Oh my god, this guy actually got closer again."

Accelerate!

I'll accelerate again!

Wang Jun took a deep breath, and his speed increased once more.

Now, he wasn't running easily at all. At this speed, with his current physical condition, he felt he couldn't last much longer.

His only hope now was that Ye Lin behind him would collapse before he did!

However, reality rarely goes as one wishes.

Ye Lin behind him actually accelerated as well, and the distance between them instantly shrank to 50 meters.

Ye Lin ran behind him, shouting, "Brother, our distance is getting closer again."

His expression was extremely relaxed, showing no signs of fatigue at all.

Wang Jun was going crazy. Is this even human?

He had just swum several hundred meters and then run for so long, yet he showed no reaction at all.

Just then, Ye Lin behind him suddenly slowed down.

Wang Jun's heart swelled with joy. "Haha, this guy finally ran out of stamina!"

With a sigh of relief, Wang Jun's own speed also decreased.

Then, after 100 meters, Ye Lin behind him suddenly started to accelerate again.

Forcing Wang Jun to accelerate once more.

The two of them continued to accelerate, decelerate, accelerate, decelerate like this.

After five such cycles, Wang Jun couldn't take it anymore.

This accelerating and decelerating run was too exhausting. Forget a marathon, even a 'malama' couldn't handle it.

When Ye Lin accelerated again, he suddenly exerted himself.

"Aiya—"

With a pained cry, his left leg buckled, and he fell directly to the ground. After multiple accelerations and decelerations, his left leg began to cramp.

Ye Lin lightly ran to his side, watching him with a grin. "Hey, buddy, get up and run again."

"Run... run your sister." Wang Jun cursed.

He gasped for fresh air, his lungs wheezing like bellows. "Are you even human? You've been running for so long and you're not tired at all?"

"No, not at all. It's rare to meet an opponent like you, I'm very happy."

"Come, I'll help you up, let's keep running."

Ye Lin helped Wang Jun to his feet.

Wang Jun suddenly felt a surge of hope. He pushed Ye Lin away fiercely, and then dashed off on his two feet again.

Ye Lin stumbled from the push, then stood in place and began to clap. "Good, keep it up! I'll give you 5 minutes, and then I'm coming to chase you!"

"Ah—" Wang Jun let out a long howl to the sky. What kind of demon was this?

Run, run quickly, get away from this demon.

"5 minutes are up, I'm coming."

Wang Jun had run 400 meters when Ye Lin started chasing.

"Here I come, here I come, hahahaha." Ye Lin's demonic smile relentlessly closed in from behind.

"You demon, you beast, you're not human." Even though he was already very tired from running, Wang Jun couldn't help but curse a few times.

However, Ye Lin behind him didn't care at all. "Little demon is coming, oh."

Although Wang Jun was running now, his speed was truly astonishingly slow, and Ye Lin quickly caught up to him.

He ran parallel with him.

"Speed up, or I'm going to catch you!" Ye Lin turned his head, smiling at Wang Jun.

Wang Jun threw his head back,

Ah—

He exerted all his might, pushing forward with all his strength, sweat dripping from his face onto the ground.
