23: Can you do traditional Chinese medicine bone setting and surgery?
“Alright, I'll listen to the leadership. I'll wait outside; surely I can do that once the surgery is done.” Meng Zhaofeng's tone softened, but he still sat on a chair outside the operating room, full of emotion.
Vice Director Zhang, seeing that Meng Zhaofeng had finally shown some respect, smiled at him gratefully.
He turned to Ye Lin and said, “Mr. Ye, it's ready. But as you can see, we have other arrangements, so we can only spare two hours.”
Ye Lin nodded calmly, “That's enough.”
With that, he turned and instructed Jiang Waner to wait outside, then pushed Jiang Xiaosheng in himself.
“Divine Doctor Ye, can my brother's leg really be fixed?”
As they were about to enter, Jiang Waner became worried.
“Just wait, and trust me,” Ye Lin comforted her.
Just as he was about to go in,
“Wait!”
A voice came from the side.
Meng Zhaofeng stood up from his chair and blocked Ye Lin's path.
“What is the meaning of this?” Ye Lin's face fell.
Damn it, you're really pushing your luck, aren't you, blocking him again and again.
“I know this patient; he broke his leg two years ago. What are you trying to do?” Meng Zhaofeng questioned.
“Director Meng, Mr. Ye is just borrowing our operating room. We've signed an agreement, and all consequences are unrelated to our hospital, so please don't interfere,” Vice Director Zhang quickly interjected to smooth things over.
“Director, we have to be responsible for the patient. Does he have a medical license? We need to know what he's going to do with this young man inside. If it's an orthopedic surgery, I must be present.”
“I am the Director of Orthopedics, and I have the right to be present at all orthopedic surgeries performed at Peoples Hospital. I must be responsible for the patient,” Meng Zhaofeng argued with Vice Director Zhang.
Seeing Meng Zhaofeng's sincere concern for the patient, Ye Lin's expression softened slightly. “Director Meng, isn't it? I will reset his bones. If you want to watch, you can come in, but you cannot speak.”
“Reset his bones? He's been lame for two years, and his bones have already healed. You say you'll reset them just like that? Are you crazy?” Meng Zhaofeng looked at Ye Lin in disbelief.
Then, he turned to Jiang Xiaosheng and said, “Young man, you shouldn't blindly trust these people of unknown origin. Don't be fooled by these so-called divine doctors.”
“I know too much about these so-called divine doctors. They tell you they can cure you, then swindle a large sum of money from you, and in the end, not only is the illness not cured, but your money is also gone.”
Jiang Xiaosheng weakly said, “Director Meng, Big Brother didn't take our money.”
“...” Meng Zhaofeng was instantly speechless.
“Then he might be after...” He originally wanted to say 'after beauty,' but looking at Jiang Waner, who was still quite young, it probably wasn't that.
“Then he might have other motives.” Meng Zhaofeng really couldn't think of any other reason.
Ye Lin's face darkened. Damn it, is it this hard to do a good deed these days?
He casually pulled out a police ID from behind him. “I'm a police officer. Now you should believe I won't trick them, right?”
Meng Zhaofeng was startled when he saw the police ID. He never expected that the person who was about to perform orthopedic surgery would be a police officer.
On the other side, Vice Director Zhang was also utterly bewildered. He thought Wang Chao had come to arrange for a doctor to borrow the operating room. Now that it had turned into a police officer, he didn't know what to do.
Ye Lin took advantage of their daze, pushed Jiang Xiaosheng straight in, and couldn't be bothered to argue with them.
Meng Zhaofeng saw this and immediately followed him in. “Even if you're a police officer, I'm still coming with you. I can't let you mess around.”
Ye Lin smiled slightly, noncommittally.
Inside the operating room, Jiang Xiaosheng lay down nervously. His two calves were already twisted and couldn't lie straight.
“Anesthesia!” Ye Lin commanded.
Soon, the hospital's anesthesiologist administered a local anesthetic to Jiang Xiaosheng.
Meng Zhaofeng watched from the side with his arms crossed, sneering, thinking, 'Let's see what you, a fake doctor, will do.'
Ye Lin couldn't be bothered with him. He was a protagonist with a halo and a system; why would he need to fear a chief physician?
After confirming that Jiang Xiaosheng was properly anesthetized, Ye Lin ran his hands over both of Jiang Xiaosheng's calves. Under the Grandmaster-level Bone Setting Technique, all the skeletal details appeared perfectly clear before his eyes.
Then, he pulled out a steel hammer, raised it, and was about to smash it down.
“Stop! What are you doing? Where are the X-rays? You're just going to go straight in without even taking X-rays?”
Meng Zhaofeng finally couldn't hold back. This fake divine doctor was too fake; he completely disregarded the patient's life.
All orthopedic surgeries require X-rays first to determine the location, then a treatment plan is designed, and only then is the procedure performed.
There was no way to just go in with a hammer like he was doing.
Ye Lin's steel hammer paused in mid-air. Without turning around, he calmly replied, “That's because your skills are lacking. The wisdom passed down by our ancestors is profound; why would X-rays be needed?”
With that, the steel hammer in his hand came down cleanly a few times.
“Bang bang bang bang.”
Jiang Xiaosheng only felt his calves being hit a few times, but he felt nothing at all.
“You're being absurd!” Meng Zhaofeng saw that Ye Lin had indeed gone straight to work and was a little annoyed.
However, the patient didn't trust him, and he couldn't do anything about it, especially since this was arranged through connections.
Just then, he witnessed something he had never seen in his life.
Ye Lin's hands seemed to perform magic, pulling, twisting, and pushing Jiang Xiaosheng's calves. The originally crooked legs instantly straightened.
Then, Ye Lin's hands continuously patted, pressed, and corrected the position of the bone fracture joint.
“This is traditional Chinese bone setting!” Meng Zhaofeng exclaimed.
He had seen old Chinese medicine practitioners treat fractures before. They didn't need X-rays or surgery like modern doctors. They simply pulled and pushed, made slight adjustments, and it was done, just like Ye Lin was doing now.
Could it be that this police officer, who looked like a hooligan, was practicing traditional Chinese bone setting?
Ye Lin's hands moved non-stop. Jiang Xiaosheng's broken leg had been fractured for a long time, so relying solely on bone setting was still difficult.
He first adjusted the basic position with bone setting, but for some shattered bones and areas of proliferation, hands alone wouldn't be enough.
Just as Meng Zhaofeng was suspecting that Ye Lin was practicing traditional Chinese bone setting, Ye Lin suddenly picked up a scalpel, sterilized it, and with a light stroke, a small incision appeared on Jiang Xiaosheng's broken leg.
“Damn it, you can do surgery too?” Meng Zhaofeng couldn't help but curse.
Ye Lin had no time for him at the moment. Blood was already flowing from the incision, but he controlled it well, making only a tiny cut.
He picked up a pair of forceps and, with a 'swoosh,' poked them into the incision.
“You... clear the blood first.” Meng Zhaofeng couldn't help but speak again.
Before he could finish, Ye Lin's forceps were already out.
“Clink!” A piece of shattered bone was dropped into the surgical tray.
Meng Zhaofeng's mouth was wide open, utterly shocked.
He doesn't even need to observe? Does he think he's digging for bird eggs?
