209: Deep deterrence, you still owe me one million

As Jian Shan let out a low roar, the originally noisy First High School sports field instantly fell silent.

Who the newcomers were, these Martial Artists who had experienced life's ups and downs in society had some discernment, or at least an impression.

It was Shen Bei!

But they were utterly horrified, their faces showing an extreme sense of dread and terror.

Let's just say, Shen Bei being everyone's instructor was already completely unexpected.

This much everyone could accept.

Although Shen Bei was a student, his combat record truly crushed the competition.

It was likely that all the Martial Artists in Changtu County combined couldn't compare to a single one of Shen Bei's toes.

Coupled with Shen Bei being a local resident of Changtu, the capable are teachers regardless of age, so his becoming an instructor was understandable and perfectly reasonable.

But what made everyone's eyes pop and scalps tingle was... Shen Bei's entrance!

Good heavens!

He walked in carrying three corpses.

Shen Bei was bathed in the dazzling sunlight.

His figure, however, was dark, like a mass of black mist moving through a world of light.

At the same time, Shen Bei had many wounds all over his body, and blood dripped onto the ground in intermittent lines with each step he took.

The impact of this scene was simply explosive!

"Hiss~~~ This Shen Bei..."

"Jian Shan, is this what you meant by killing one person?"

"There are clearly three."

"How do I feel like Shen Bei isn't here for special training; he just happened to be passing by."

"Oh my god, what happened? Dragging corpses all the way, and no one cared?"

"Who would dare care? He's the most formidable Martial Artist in Changtu County."

"He's here, he's here! Whatever you do, don't make eye contact! Be careful, Shen Bei's killing intent might not have subsided, and he might take it out on you!"

...

Everyone was extremely nervous, their expressions dazed, so greatly shocked by Shen Bei's entrance that they dared not breathe!

The last time they met at the guesthouse, Shen Bei was still a gentle and refined young man.

Now... the corpses in his hands, the seemingly unfelt wounds, made him seem like a transformed killing maniac!

With every step Shen Bei took, an immense pressure spread and squeezed across the sports field like a tide.

It made it difficult for many members of the reserve team to breathe, and at the same time, they maintained serious expressions, not daring to joke around.

Rustle...

Shen Bei arrived at the center of the sports field.

Bloodstains on his face resembled winding little snakes.

He revealed his most gentle smile: "Hello, fellow villagers."

Although Shen Bei tried his best to appear approachable, his appearance was simply...

Too intimidating.

The reserve team members present, although all Martial Artists, were not of high ranks.

The highest was only Three-Rank, and most were One-Rank or Two-Rank.

It must be said that they had caught a good era, able to gain Martial Artist status without having to go into the catacombs.

In fact, most of them had never killed anyone, cut down a Vicious Beast, or seen blood.

Their only purpose in becoming Martial Artists was to gain a higher social status.

So, when Shen Bei greeted them, dragging three corpses and covered in blood, these people had no desire to be presumptuous.

They all stood rigidly, not daring to speak.

Shen Bei, thinking he wasn't approachable enough, continued, "I'm truly sorry, my studies are busy, and I've delayed the reserve team's training time. Coincidentally, I chased down a few Four-Rank Headhunter Tribe members and returned to Changtu. We'll start training shortly."

Boom!

Shen Bei's words caused the reserve team members to explode into an uproar.

Especially the phrase "chased down a few Headhunter Tribe members," which was like an invisible bomb exploding in their hearts!

You might not know history, and you might not know who the governor is.

But the name of the Headhunter Tribe is famous both domestically and internationally, to the point of making children stop crying!

Members of the Headhunter Tribe are a group of madmen who kill without batting an eye, and their eyes never dry!

Anyone involved with the Headhunter Tribe either joins them or dies miserably.

There's no other choice!

For these Martial Artists present, who had not experienced life-or-death trials, the Headhunter Tribe was a nightmarish existence.

They feared them beyond measure!

And Shen Bei... had killed three of them in one go!

And they were Four-Rank Martial Artists!

One person took down three Four-Rank Martial Artists.

Big brother, what rank are you now?

Five-Rank or Six-Rank?

That's too fierce, isn't it?

Moreover, Shen Bei at this moment still had a calm and indifferent expression.

It was truly shocking.

But...

A hornet's nest, he had poked a hornet's nest!

All the members' eyes protruded, and their jaws nearly dropped to the ground.

Jian Shan's mouth twitched, constantly looking towards the school gate. Damn it, why wasn't Gu Changfeng here yet? Someone needed to manage Shen Bei!

Jian Shan couldn't get involved in this kind of matter; he estimated Shen Bei had a plan.

Jian Shan didn't delve deeper into the issue but said, "Let's not talk about these for now; Gu Changfeng will handle it later. You put the corpses aside; they're quite unsettling to look at."

Shen Bei pulled out a tissue, wiped the blood from his body, took out a Medicinal Pill for healing, and chugged a bottle.

He waved his hand, pointing at a few people: "You, you, and you, go find some rope and hang the corpses on the tree for me."

"Wait--" Jian Shan held out a hand to stop him, rubbing his forehead, looking helpless: "A body bag will do; why hang them on a tree?"

"Don't I get to show off my spoils of war?"

"There are other students on campus; don't scare them."

"Courage is built through practice."

"I..." Jian Shan rolled his eyes, then decided to just let it go.

Soon, a few people found ropes and hung the corpses on the tree.

The corpses swayed with the gentle breeze, emitting a pungent smell of blood.

Shen Bei nodded in satisfaction.

It was truly satisfying.

This chase, from Lingnan City to Changtu County, had almost worn him out like a dog.

Then.

Shen Bei turned to look at the reserve team members.

Among these members, all were men in their thirties at least, some even in their fifties.

For the reserve team, students were not required to participate, nor were special individuals.

Only social Martial Artists with local household registrations were screened.

Not every one of these Martial Artists had made a name for themselves.

Some Martial Artists even received welfare from the state, doing nothing and achieving nothing.

Shen Bei looked at their physiques and shook his head.

Each one was fat-headed and big-eared, with huge beer bellies, large amounts of fat accumulated on their thighs and buttocks, prominent double chins, and round, flabby facial lines.

It was evident that they lacked exercise and had long neglected their basic cultivation.

Shen Bei tilted his head to Jian Shan and asked, "Uncle, where do we start?"

Jian Shan was startled, his teeth aching a bit: "No... after all this time, you haven't done your homework?"

Shen Bei shrugged and said, "I'm very busy."

"Jian Tong said you're holed up in your dorm all day; I thought you were researching training courses."

Shen Bei turned sideways, pulled Jian Tong closer, and whispered, "Why don't we just wing it? Look at them, they've all gotten fat; there's really no need for training."

"This is a national task; the necessary procedures still need to be followed."

"But isn't the training level still tailored to the individual?"

"That's why the county head and I recommended you; we still hope for some achievements."

Why did Shen Bei feel that Jian Shan was so stubborn?

Could someone from above come to inspect the training results?

With so many cities and counties nationwide, who could check them all?

Just get your invoices reimbursed and be done with it.

This was Jian Shan; what if it were Gu Changfeng, the expert at reimbursement? He'd definitely be able to feast on braised pork.

Shen Bei said earnestly, "Our Changtu County enjoys favorable weather and has been disaster-free for a hundred years; just relax."

What Shen Bei said was true.

Changtu County was indeed a magical place.

When neighboring counties experienced massive floods, Changtu County had no problems at all; they even had to drive to other counties to see floods...

It was a place that guaranteed harvests regardless of drought or flood.

Although Shen Bei also had a premonition that the catacombs would become more frequent in the future, it was almost impossible for Changtu County to be affected.

War would rage, but not every piece of land was worth burning.

So, Shen Bei's meaning was clear: don't take it too seriously; just deal with it for a few days.

He just needed to activate his settlement panel.

As for the training content, Shen Bei didn't want to make himself too tired.

Jian Shan's expression indicated that he didn't quite agree with Shen Bei's perfunctory attitude, but he just waved his hand: "You handle it."

"Then I'll take care of it."

Shen Bei rubbed his hands together.

He turned to face the reserve team members, his expression solemn: "Attention, everyone."

Whoosh.

These old-timer Martial Artists all stood ramrod straight, not daring to show any defiance; Shen Bei's entrance was just too damn terrifying!

"Before we begin training, I have a saying for you."

Shen Bei walked back and forth with his hands behind his back, as if lecturing his grandsons, and continued, "True Martial Skill is not about roaring and swinging your fists, but about acting as you please!"

"Therefore, our first lesson is... running laps around the sports field, let's start with ten laps to warm up!"

The sports field at First High School was a standard one, much smaller than Lingnan City Martial Arts University.

Ten laps for these Martial Artists, even though they were lax in their Cultivation, wasn't too difficult; they could all complete it.

Without further ado, these Martial Artists began running laps around the sports field.

Shen Bei, meanwhile, stood in the shade and ordered two takeaway milk teas.

"I clearly saw you chasing someone on the street earlier, so how did you kill three?"

Jian Shan asked, circling the corpses hanging from the tree.

Shen Bei said, "Ah, there were four in total; another one died in Lingnan City."

Jian Shan's eyelids twitched: "Indeed, the younger generation surpasses the older. When you first came to my house, you were completely different from how you are now."

"No, I'm still the same person."

Jian Shan gazed at Shen Bei, then smiled and nodded: "Good, good, I like hearing that. I won't ask for any bride price or anything."

Shen Bei clicked his tongue: "That's not right, I remember the second time I went to your house, you still owed me a million. When are you going to pay it back?"

Jian Shan almost spat blood, staring with wide eyes: "You have a pretty good memory."

"When it comes to money, I never forget," Shen Bei grinned.

Jian Shan snorted.

...

Soon.

The delivery driver arrived.

But the delivery wasn't allowed inside.

At this moment, a police car from the Lingnan City Patrol Bureau also stopped at the entrance.

Gu Changfeng jumped out.

The delivery driver pleaded, "Can you help me deliver this to a customer named Shen Bei?"

Gu Changfeng said "Oh," took it, pulled out a straw, inserted it, took a big slurp, and clicked his tongue: "Tastes good. You give it a five-star review later."

Saying that, he walked quickly into the school without stopping.

The delivery driver: ...
