98: The end of the universe is indeed working

This job isn't easy.

Diogenes Syndrome, a psychological disorder named after the ancient Greek philosopher Diogenes, is also known as Dirty Disorder Syndrome.

It is also a behavioral disorder.

This condition is highly prevalent among the elderly.

Its main manifestations are neglecting hygiene, compulsive hoarding of garbage, lack of shame, emotional indifference, shallow interpersonal relationships, and extreme self-centeredness.

Good heavens.

After Shen Bei and the others saw this scene, their heads were spinning.

Everyone had thought it was just small tasks like tidying up garbage, wiping windows, and mopping floors.

But what they got was a royal flush right off the bat!

What the hell is this!

Even people couldn't get in, so one could imagine the situation inside the house.

And not only that, cockroaches and even rats were crawling everywhere.

Shen Bei glanced upstairs; the doors upstairs were covered in dust.

Apparently, they couldn't stand it anymore and had moved out.

Shen Bei swallowed: "Buddy, is this what you called a small task?"

"For laborers like you, isn't it better than carrying cement under the sun?" Little Li argued.

Shen Bei shook his head: "You can't say that; carrying cement is at least a straightforward task."

"But this job..." Shen Bei pointed to the old man lying upstairs: "Leaving aside everything else, cleaning out all the garbage in the house is no problem, but how do you deal with this old man? All this garbage is his treasure, so he naturally won't let us touch it."

Little Li didn't care about these things: "Anyway, you guys figure it out. Your task is to clean up the garbage. How you clean it, and whether anyone stops you, is your own business."

One of the laborers immediately threw a tantrum: "Damn it! I'm not doing it, I'm leaving!"

But Shen Bei had to do it.

This job was indeed interesting; maybe it could give him some strange attribute points.

Shen Bei waved his hand and said: "Don't rush off, let me think of something."

After a moment of thought, Shen Bei decided to take a targeted approach, walked up to the old man, and said: "Grandpa, I just saw a lot of cardboard boxes thrown out in the community across the street."

Instantly, a strong and excited light burst forth from the old man's eyes.

With a whoosh.

He seemed to have been injected with Super-Modified Adrenaline, completely activated!

The old man immediately stood up, carrying his woven bag, and in a few blinks, he disappeared from everyone's sight, running towards the community gate.

Shen Bei waved his hand, signaling to the other laborers: "Quickly!"

The laborers' eyes widened as they exclaimed: "This works too?"

Shen Bei laughed: "Old tricks still work well."

Taking advantage of the old man's departure, several people quickly got to work.

They dragged all kinds of garbage out of the house.

The most unbearable part of this job was the overpowering smell.

It was eye-watering.

And, it was extremely dirty.

The prolonged lack of ventilation had created a faintly toxic atmosphere inside the room.

One laborer immediately gasped after inhaling some of the air, and then convulsed.

His hands were in a V-sign, his mouth was crooked, his eyes were askew, and he was foaming at the mouth, unconscious.

He was eventually carried outside and took a while to recover after catching his breath.

One must know that these laborers were from the lowest strata of society; what kind of dirty or arduous work hadn't they done?

Even cleaning out cesspools wasn't as life-threatening as this.

It must be said that this was no longer just a problem of unpleasant odors; rather, the room had formed a miasma-like barrier.

Finally, Shen Bei and the others had no choice but to put on masks and once again assault the "demon's den."

Fortunately, it was on the first floor, so there was no need to go far; they could just throw the garbage out directly.

At this moment, Little Li set up his camera and began recording: "Today is another day of showing love. My companions and I are cleaning an elderly person's room. Everyone, look at how messy it is."

"But we are not afraid of hardship, not afraid of fatigue, and we strive wholeheartedly for the beautiful tomorrow of our motherland!"

"Please tap the little red heart and follow me to get on the trending page."

After recording, Little Li disdainfully dropped the cardboard he had been posing with.

He even went out and found a junk collector.

All sorts of garbage were sorted and weighed, and he managed to sell them for five hundred yuan.

Shen Bei was stunned by Little Li's audacious move.

Damn!

Could one really pull off such a scheme?

However, Shen Bei couldn't be bothered; all he wanted was his pay and to activate his daily settlement panel.

As for Little Li's actions... no comment.

After Shen Bei and the others' hard work.

The entire room, if not perfectly clean, was at least habitable.

All the necessary tidying was done.

All the necessary wiping was done.

Work completed.

Little Li began recording a second video. To show authenticity, he even poured some mineral water on his face to make it look like he was sweating profusely.

Shen Bei and the others rolled their eyes at the sight.

Finally, the recording was finished.

Wages settled.

A wonderful day of work ended!

After the few people left the room.

The old man walked home empty-handed.

Upon seeing that all his treasures were gone.

He almost fainted from anger.

He cursed at Little Li: "I warned you not to touch my things!"

"Grandpa, I'm doing this for your own good, for your health," Little Li said unhurriedly.

"Go to hell!"

The old man swung the wooden stick he used for picking up trash and chased him, beating him.

Finally, he called the police.

The police from the patrol station were bewildered when they arrived.

You say Little Li directed a home invasion?

But he was a genuine charitable person.

Shen Bei didn't know how it was ultimately handled, nor was he in the mood to be curious.

It had nothing to do with him.

The myriad states of life, the multitude of beings in society.

There are all sorts of monsters and demons.

Whether selfish, despicable, or noble.

They are all an indispensable part of a society full of human life.

There is no purely noble society; there will always be someone to fill the void of the despicable.

...

The next day.

The daily settlement panel arrived as scheduled.

[Yesterday's rewards are settled as follows:]

[Completed electrician work, gained money +100, resistance to electrical damage +50%]

[Completed room cleaning work, gained money +100, Strength +1, Physique +1. Poison Resistance +50%]

Shen Bei clicked his tongue.

How to describe yesterday's rewards?

The electrician work was still below expectations.

Not a single Fourth Dimension Attribute was given.

But thinking about it, it seemed to make sense.

He hadn't done any actual work.

It was all about solving the case.

But the Fifth Dimension Attribute was good; resistance to electrical damage increased by 50%, an invaluable attribute.

One must know that between heaven and earth, the purest and most mysterious power is lightning.

Jian Tong walked this Martial Path.

"Hmm, my family status has improved; I'm not afraid of electricity anymore."

Shen Bei was a little bit satisfied.

As for the reward for cleaning the house, the most important part was Poison Resistance.

Adding to the several times he had encountered harsh environmental conditions while doing odd jobs before.

Shen Bei calculated that his Poison Resistance Attribute had almost reached 90%.

This Poison Resistance did not refer to a single toxin, but all toxins.

That was quite abnormal!

Even against Martial Artists skilled in using poison attacks, Shen Bei could almost completely ignore their damage.

Awesome!

"Indeed, the end of the Universe is working."

He got up cheerfully.

Washed, ate, went to class.

It was still the dull and boring alien linguistics.

Professor Gu Xinrou's teaching level was still relatively high.

But Shen Bei's learning ability...

Professor Gu Xinrou could only say that he was a blemish on her teaching career.

After one class.

According to the normal schedule, Professor Gu Xinrou was supposed to guide Shen Bei in Cultivating Martial Skills.

In this aspect, Professor Gu Xinrou was not as good as Shen Bei.

Shen Bei could only say that Teacher Professor Gu Xinrou was a blemish on his student career.

Anyway, they were both equally bad.

Shen Bei got up to skip class and continue doing odd jobs, but he was stopped by Teacher Professor Gu Xinrou.

She said: "Don't rush off."

"Something wrong?"

"Last time, because of your performance at the Martial Arts University, all the supplies that were supposed to be given to us have been delivered."

"That fast?" Shen Bei was a bit surprised.

Professor Gu Xinrou nodded: "They were transferred from Shenyin City's Martial Arts University, so of course it's fast. Principal Zhang decided to distribute your deserved benefits on the spot."

At this, Shen Bei became excited.

Putting everything else aside, Medicinal Pills alone could be sold for a lot of money.

When they arrived at the entrance of the resource library.

A truck was parked at the entrance.

Many students and teachers had already arrived and were queuing to receive supplies.

Just then.

A student-looking boy jumped down from the truck.

His facial features were extremely imbalanced, giving him a fierce appearance.

His face showed displeasure, and his eyes were filled with ominous Qi.

He looked around, his voice not loud, but exceptionally clear: "My name is Qiu Qianren, a third-year student from Shenyin Martial Arts University. I want to ask, who is Shen Bei? Step forward!"

Shen Bei: ???

Who are you?

So arrogant?

Do I know you?
