6: Yes, you are the bait.

Initially, Shen Bei didn't understand what Professor Gu Xinrou meant by 'the bigger picture'.

But as Professor Gu Xinrou announced that she would be selecting a few students from the class to participate in an off-campus activity, Shen Bei suddenly understood.

He got it.

It wasn't about using all the students as bait.

Instead, it was about picking a few unlucky ones to wander around the county town, attempting to lure out the peripheral member of the Headhunter Tribe, that murderer.

Shen Bei knew with certainty that the chosen students would undoubtedly be those with no hope in martial arts.

That is, students whose four-dimensional attributes didn't meet the standards after the last test.

Shen Bei clicked his tongue, muttering to himself, "Oh no, why do I feel a bit panicked?"

Sure enough.

Just as Shen Bei predicted, the bald Principal Zhang patted his head, letting out a sigh, as if he too was embarrassed and didn't want to use his students as bait, but had no choice.

He spoke in a deep and meaningful tone, "Students, today's off-campus activity will be completed under the supervision of Gu Changfeng and the Martial Arts University students."

"The selected students must obey their commands, and after completing the mission, there will be bonus points for liberal arts!"

The unsuspecting students immediately erupted into a noisy clamor.

Each of them expressed their dissatisfaction, chattering:

"What? Bonus points for liberal arts?"

"It should be bonus points for Martial Arts, right?"

"Are you kidding me? What's the use of liberal arts?"

"Then I'm not going, I'd rather stay in school and enjoy the air conditioning."

"Don't disturb my martial arts pre-study, go away, quickly go away."

...

At this moment, Jian Tong blinked, nudged Shen Bei with her elbow, and softly asked, "What in the world is Teacher Gu doing?"

"Anyway, it has nothing to do with you; your body is precious."

Shen Bei lounged lazily on the desk, speaking languidly.

Jian Tong rolled her eyes, "What a sour tone. I must have accumulated great good karma in my previous life."

"Just a trick of reincarnation."

"You really are..." Jian Tong glared, pouting, "You're really boring!"

Just then.

On the podium, Gu Changfeng and Principal Zhang pointed at the students below, while also asking for Professor Gu Xinrou's opinion.

"We need someone who looks like a problem student at first glance, that way it will be natural."

"Exactly, that's more in line with the characteristics of skipping class."

"But there must be a bottom line; students whose four-dimensional attributes meet the standard or might meet it cannot be chosen, as this matter still carries some risk."

The few of them discussed for a while.

Professor Gu Xinrou began to call out names: "Wang Meng, Yu Gang..."

Five students gradually stood up.

Shen Bei looked.

Well, well.

As expected, they were all students with no hope in Martial Arts.

These students were still giggling, thinking that gaining bonus points for liberal arts was a good thing.

But at this point, Professor Gu Xinrou faltered.

Principal Zhang urged, "We're still short one student. Pick him out."

Professor Gu Xinrou secretly glanced at Shen Bei, then coughed and said, "There are no more."

Gu Changfeng narrowed his long eyes and asked, "Why are there no more? This transcript shows that one student's grades are very stable, the last place, Shen Bei, isn't that right?"

Professor Gu Xinrou's pretty face twisted slightly, her brows filled with Evil Qi, "I said there are none, so there are none!"

Principal Zhang chuckled, and quietly said, "Teacher Gu, this is a major case that the city needs to investigate. Haven't you seen the Martial Arts University students from the city brought in to assist? If we don't make a sacrifice now, there will be endless troubles later!"

Professor Gu Xinrou pursed her lips, choked up, and simply stopped speaking.

From a rational perspective, if this murderer is not eliminated, the hidden danger is immense.

Fishing for evidence is necessary.

But from an emotional perspective, Shen Bei has already had it hard enough.

Although he has no hope of becoming a Martial Artist and will eventually become a subordinate.

At the very least, he should be allowed to live out his life in peace, right?

Professor Gu Xinrou genuinely did not want Shen Bei to go out and take risks.

But Principal Zhang directly bypassed Professor Gu Xinrou and shouted at the teacher, "Who is Shen Bei?"

Shen Bei stood up upon hearing this.

Principal Zhang scrutinized him from head to toe.

Shen Bei stood in the sunlight, extraordinarily handsome and composed.

So handsome he almost blinded Principal Zhang.

He waved his hand, "Sit down, you're not needed anymore."

Shen Bei: ???

Professor Gu Xinrou: ???

Gu Changfeng: ???

"Is he connected?" Gu Changfeng quietly asked, puzzled, "Why can't he go?"

Principal Zhang sighed, "He's too handsome, doesn't look like a ruffian student."

These words were immediately overheard by the students in the front row.

Immediately, laughter erupted:

"Huh? Shen Bei doesn't look like a ruffian student?"

"He certainly doesn't look like one, but he does it every day!"

"Principal Zhang, how long has it been since you've been to the grassroots? Our class is constantly missing one student, and that's Shen Bei."

"He skipped class yesterday and the day before too."

"You can't judge a book by its cover, and that's perfectly exemplified by him."

...

The students chattered like they were tattling, gloating.

Principal Zhang turned to Professor Gu Xinrou, seemingly reproaching her, "Teacher Gu, this is your lax supervision. Such a handsome student, skipping class every day to hang out with shady characters. If he ends up in a male escort club, wouldn't those female Martial Artists go crazy?"

Professor Gu Xinrou: ...

Professor Gu Xinrou forced a smile that was uglier than crying, and said with slight embarrassment, "Principal, you're overthinking it. He skips class to go to work."

Principal Zhang exclaimed, "Wasting his own resources."

Gu Changfeng held his forehead, "Can we get to the point?"

After some final deliberation, although Professor Gu Xinrou argued strenuously, Shen Bei still couldn't get out of it and was assigned by the school to do "extracurricular activities."

Shen Bei didn't care, though.

Anyway, he needed an excuse to skip class to work.

After Awakening the daily settlement panel, not working for a day meant a loss of a billion.

As for a murderer...

How could such a coincidence happen in the world that he would run into one?

Soon.

Several students, each followed by students from Lingnan City Martial Arts University, walked out of the school gate.

Gu Changfeng, the constable, was stationed in the county town, ready to command and support at any time.

When it was Shen Bei's turn, Professor Gu Xinrou pulled him aside and anxiously instructed, "Go straight home and sleep, don't worry about anything else."

"I'm scared to sleep alone. Teacher Gu, come home with me."

Shen Bei said earnestly.

"Go to hell!"

Professor Gu Xinrou's delicate body convulsed violently with anger; her good intentions were truly wasted on him!

...

This was the first time Shen Bei had openly skipped class and walked out of First High School.

He usually climbed over the wall.

For a moment, he felt a bit unaccustomed.

And about ten meters behind Shen Bei were two students from Lingnan City Martial Arts University.

One was named Wang Ye, and the other was named Xiao Ying.

Wang Ye had an ordinary appearance, the kind of common face that would be hard to find in a crowd.

He was very suitable for being a 'Chaoyang the masses' (a term for local informants).

But Xiao Ying was a bit more distinctive.

His chin was slightly upturned, as if dislocated, forming an upward arc.

That is, he had an underbite.

They were both First-Rank Martial Artists in their first year at Lingnan City Martial Arts University.

They were temporarily transferred to Changtu County to assist with the case.

After all, the number of Martial Artists in a county town was quite limited.

Moreover, most of the local Martial Artists were in government agencies and had long developed an air of superiority.

This was not conducive to fishing for evidence.

The two followed Shen Bei as he wandered around the county town for a while.

Gradually, they realized something was wrong.

Wang Ye tilted his head, saying with a puzzled expression, "Why isn't he following our planned route?"

Xiao Ying raised an eyebrow, "The planned route is to walk down the pedestrian street, then enter a sparsely populated alley. Where is he going?"

Just as the two were about to warn Shen Bei not to deviate from the planned route.

Shen Bei turned a corner and arrived at the Labor Market.

He found a spot and squatted down.

Waiting for work!
