406: While doing odd jobs...

Previously, Shen Bei took odd jobs without any specific goal, doing whatever work was available.

As long as he got paid, he was guaranteed to activate his calculation panel the next day.

This time, however, Shen Bei was selectively choosing odd jobs.

For Shen Bei, who wanted to take a shortcut to increase the distance of his Instant Shadow Reversion Skill, there weren't many odd jobs to choose from.

Shen Bei temporarily set his sights on being a courier.

Perhaps there was some connection between the two; it was hard to say.

The main reason was that Shen Bei's investment was not high; it was just one day's work. If the Fifth Dimension Attribute provided couldn't increase the distance of his Instant Shadow Reversion Skill, he would simply give up and find other work.

No sooner said than done.

Shen Bei never procrastinated when pursuing his goals.

There was no such thing as "I'll rest today and work hard tomorrow"; he was a completely down-to-earth man of action.

If he had a cheat and still didn't work hard, would he be worthy of himself?

Just do it!

He hurried to the Labor Market.

A familiar scent wafted over him.

Shen Bei hadn't been to the Labor Market in about four months.

Of course, both the Changtu County Labor Market and the Shen City Labor Market had been busy with the Permanent Dungeon exploration for the Martial Dao Pinnacle during this period.

Now, being back in the place where he started, he felt a deep sense of familiarity.

He recalled that it was this Changtu County Labor Market that allowed his strength to advance by leaps and bounds, making rapid progress.

And now, Shen Bei couldn't help but sigh, thinking that he was once a student destined to never become a Martial Artist.

Relying on his Awakening cheat, he soared ahead. Hmm, Shen Bei thought to himself: it was all thanks to his own efforts.

He blended into the Labor Market.

The Labor Market was even livelier than usual at this time.

Its scale was comparable to the Lingnan City Labor Market.

This was mainly because the Changtu County Permanent Dungeon had stabilized, and more Martial Artists had poured in.

More Martial Artists meant more pressure on the service industry, which in turn boosted the entire county's economy.

This led to a significant increase in demand for labor.

When the demand for labor was huge and there were few people to do the work, it would lead to increased labor costs.

Laborers earning more money would also attract people from other towns to flock in.

This caused the Labor Market in a small county to expand several times, making it comparable to Lingnan City.

Even so, the supply and demand still couldn't reach equilibrium.

Previously, laborers would beg bosses for work.

Now, bosses were begging laborers to give them some Face and come work for them.

But clearly, laborers definitely wouldn't give bosses Face.

It depended on the money.

If they offered too little, they'd be scorned and told to get lost.

Many bosses on site held up signs, grabbed loudspeakers, and constantly shouted to attract the attention of laborers:

"Hotel server, eight-hour shift, 300! Absolutely eight hours, if it's a minute more, I'll die! Come quickly!"

"Tile loader, paid per truck, absolutely explosive wages, lunch provided, food is great, I even eat in the cafeteria, imagine how good the food is, come on, people!"

"Courier, unit price doubled! The vehicle and packages are all loaded for you, you just need to deliver them. Also, you don't need to tolerate customer's bad habits, if they don't pick up in three minutes, just drop it at the station and don't worry about it, I'll handle any complaints, need a few who can drive electric scooters! Please!"

"Odd jobs, assisting the main worker, easy and not tiring, moving bricks, handing mud, plenty of water pipes, overtime pay doubled!"

"Market security guard, patrol duty, don't need to manage anything, just patrol, if anything happens, call the supervisor, 200 a day! Food provided!"

...

In the chaotic Labor Market, there were more bosses recruiting than laborers.

As Shen Bei walked through, he was stopped by no less than a dozen bosses, who seemed to fall in love at first sight, insisting on pulling Shen Bei to work.

The old Shen Bei wouldn't have been picky; any job would do.

But now, he had to be targeted and purposeful.

Without a word, he headed straight for the courier boss.

"You've come to the right place!" The tall, skinny boss, who looked like a big monkey, patted Shen Bei's shoulder: "We just deliver packages on electric scooters, they're all small items, not tiring at all."

Whether it's tiring or not is another matter; if it can't activate the attribute I want, then it's a one-time deal.

"Let's go, let's go, I'll take you back first, you can start working."

The tall, thin boss pulled Shen Bei into the car and sped all the way to the courier station.

He briefly explained the work process for a few minutes.

"Oh, and your ID card needs to be held as collateral; I'll return it to you after work," the boss said.

He's afraid I'll drive off with the electric scooter...

Shen Bei shrugged, took out his ID card, and said, "We're all locals."

"Locals are even better to talk to; I just need to take a look."

The boss took the ID card, glanced at it, twitched his mouth, and his finger trembled: "You, you, don't tell me, you're Shen Bei!"

Shen Bei spread his hands and nodded: "Is there a problem?"

The boss handed the ID card back.

He seemed to find it hard to breathe, tugged at his collar, then opened his mouth but didn't breathe. After nearly ten seconds, he suddenly took a deep breath, then exhaled heavily, saying:

"No, no problem. I just heard that our Changtu County's famous 'Workaholic Demon' Shen Bei often frequents the Labor Market. I didn't expect to meet you."

Shen Bei shrugged: "Don't worry, all my previous employers gave me five-star reviews."

"That's not what I meant." The tall, thin boss wiped the cold sweat from his forehead: "I just feel that Martial Artists have many ways to make money..."

"I just like delivering packages."

Shen Bei sat on the electric scooter and held out a hand: "Key."

The tall, thin boss hesitated for a long time before handing the key to Shen Bei, and earnestly said: "This, you must control your temper, if there's any problem, call me, and I'll handle it."

Shen Bei crossed his arms, silently falling into thought, his fingers tapping rhythmically on his arm: "Are you afraid I'll bully people with my power?"

The boss stammered: "No, no, that's not what I meant."

"Hmph, I still have principles when I work."

"Some customers are indeed difficult, but don't, don't use your hands!"

"Are you taking me for a serial killer?" Shen Bei glared: "I'm a five-good young man with excellent character!"

Boss: ...

He was still blasting a couple in the county yesterday, their heads exploded, did I not hear about it?

"Let's go."

Shen Bei glanced at the delivery route and wasted no time, quickly starting his work.

He drove his small electric scooter slowly and leisurely through the streets.

Although the county's population had quadrupled, traffic was not congested.

This was mainly because all private cars were restricted from entering the county, and the rest were parked in a huge parking lot outside the city.

Only official vehicles, delivery vehicles, buses, and other vehicles ensuring public welfare were allowed to enter and exit.

Moreover, all buses were free.

Private cars could also enter if there was a temporary need.

This ensured smooth traffic within the county.

Otherwise, with a large influx of vehicles, people would be stuck in traffic all day long instead of doing anything else.

The courier's electric scooter weaved through the streets and arrived at Binbei Community.

Upon reaching the entrance.

The security guard, with a business-like expression, sipped his plain water: "No entry, buddy."

Shen Bei rolled his eyes and directly called the customer: "Come down and pick up your package."

The customer was a woman, sounding quite young, but her tone was a bit unreasonable: "You bring it up to me!"

"The security guard won't let me in."

"That's your problem, what does it have to do with me?"

"Oh."

Shen Bei hung up the phone directly, tossed the package into the security booth, and turned to leave.

Go to hell.

Spoiled rotten.

Even one more word with you would be an insult to my professional career!
