38: Two women are jealous

“Congratulations, Champion!”

Boss Zhang, while counting the banknotes, had a flattering expression on his face: “Here, Shen Bei, this is your salary, 5100.”

Shen Bei happily took the banknotes.

These were all the fruits of his labor!

He deserved it.

The money earned through hard work indeed smelled of ink.

“The Labor Market will be much less interesting without you in the future, you know.”

Boss Zhang spoke again.

Shen Bei said, “If there’s work in Lingnan City, you can still find me.”

Boss Zhang hurriedly shook his head, with a hint of distance: “What are you talking about? You’re a Martial Artist. We’re not on the same path at all.”

Shen Bei clicked his tongue.

In this world, Martial Artists were one level, and ordinary people were another; they couldn't be compared.

Boss Zhang’s attitude was understandable.

Just looking at the other co-workers, it was clear that Boss Zhang was quite brave.

Those co-workers didn't dare to approach Shen Bei, naturally drawing a line, this self-awareness came from an innate reverence and fear of Martial Artists.

Shen Bei didn't say much more; Professor Gu Xinrou had already urged him to return to the group several times.

“Then, may we meet again if fate allows.”

Shen Bei patted Boss Zhang’s shoulder and turned to leave.

For Shen Bei, working was definitely something he had to do.

Without working, he couldn't increase his attribute points.

He would continue his great endeavor in the Lingnan City Labor Market in the future.

He returned to the Changtu County student team.

The Martial Arts University had already prepared a celebration banquet, so there was no need to rush back to the county town that night.

Hotels had been arranged.

They could return the next day.

The banquet was also divided into two large halls.

Students who got into the Martial Arts University had one hall, where the food was richer, and they could eat and drink as much as they wanted.

Students who didn't get in had another hall, where the food was relatively meager, and some students even just showed their faces before turning left out the door to eat at street stalls.

Shen Bei took his seat at the banquet table.

Many teachers and leaders from the Martial Arts University also attended.

After a lot of chatter.

Shen Bei's head ached from listening.

Only when the long-winded speeches finally ended did the waiters bring out chopsticks…

This showed the rules.

Presumably, the Martial Arts University officials knew what they were doing; they were afraid no one would listen during the speeches, so they served the food first and the chopsticks later.

Originally, Professor Gu Xinrou and Jian Tong were sitting beside Shen Bei.

The banquet had barely started when Professor Gu Xinrou received a call, and fearing it would be inconvenient to talk, she went outside to answer it.

“Shen Bei, why did your attribute value increase again?”

Jian Tong sipped her cola and asked curiously.

Shen Bei didn't answer directly, but smiled and said, “Your dad should be secretly happy, otherwise he would have lost another million.”

Jian Tong: …

At this moment, Liao Zhongyang leaned over, his voice hoarse: “Shen Bei, let me introduce you to a classmate.”

Shen Bei turned his head to look back.

He saw Liao Zhongyang bringing a girl over.

This girl was wearing a palace dress made of red.

The so-called palace dress was actually a costume combined with modern art.

Although there were girls who wore such clothes.

But very few.

Every detail highlighted her nobility; her beauty was exquisite, not of this mortal world, like a dream, with bright and noble Phoenix eyes, every strand of hair appeared graceful and lovely, making Fu Huangqin's beauty seem ordinary in comparison, beautiful but not seductive, with the dignified posture of a Phoenix.

“Yu Qiuyi.” Liao Zhongyang introduced her.

Shen Bei said, “Oh, first time meeting her.”

Yu Qiuyi blinked: “No way?”

Yu Qiuyi found it unbelievable.

She often appeared on campus; even if they hadn't greeted each other, hadn't he seen her from afar?

Besides, the inter-class exercises involved all the teachers and students lining up on the playground, so he must have seen her then too.

Jian Tong seemed to have an innate hostility, her face turning unfriendly as she looked at Yu Qiuyi.

Jealousy between boys was often hidden behind smiles.

Between girls, it was completely overt.

“Are you looking for Shen Bei for something?” Jian Tong folded her arms, her lips curving slightly into a cold, hard arc as she spoke.

In Jian Tong's view, she didn't come early or late, but precisely when Shen Bei was the Champion.

This was a clear intention!

Yu Qiuyi tossed her hair, her voice drawling as she laughed and said, “A Genius has emerged from First High School, who wouldn't admire him? I came to get to know him, what's wrong with that?”

Liao Zhongyang suddenly raised his hand and said, “I don't admire him!”

Yu Qiuyi had never seen someone so good at undermining others; he truly lived up to his reputation as a big simpleton!

Originally, she wanted to find a student who knew Shen Bei to introduce them.

But the result was…

She asked around, but no one knew him.

It was as if Shen Bei was a student who had appeared out of thin air.

Only Qi Chuanyu and Liao Zhongyang knew him.

There was no need to mention Qi Chuanyu; Yu Qiuyi got annoyed just seeing him.

So she had to drag Liao Zhongyang over.

Now, this was great.

You can't admire Shen Bei, can you?

Jian Tong's eyes curved like crescent moons, and she sneered, “You're too late.”

Yu Qiuyi, hearing this, blossomed into a smile, her lips curving: “Let me teach you a few idioms: latercomers surpass the old, unprecedented, latecomers gain the advantage…”

Jian Tong felt severely challenged!

She wanted to prove with facts to make Yu Qiuyi give up this idea, to avoid future trouble.

She called out somewhat angrily: “Shen Bei, Shen Bei! Shen Bei?”

She called several times, but no one answered.

It was then that Jian Tong turned her head and realized that at some point, Shen Bei had already taken Liao Zhongyang and was whispering in a corner.

Jian Tong raised an eyebrow, her tone hardening: “Shen Bei!”

Shen Bei looked up, waved his hand, indicating he was busy and not to disturb him.

Yu Qiuyi raised her cheeks and chuckled softly: “I see I'm not late at all.”

Jian Tong then put on a sweet smile that contained a hint of tension, and directly threw out a harsh remark: “Don't think I don't know what you're thinking. Shen Bei and I are deskmates, and we've already met each other's parents!”

Yu Qiuyi's face immediately turned cold: “Who are you trying to fool?!”

Their gazes met, sparking electricity.

Both snorted, parting unhappily.

Meanwhile, Shen Bei, in his Incarnation as a great swindler, said: “Buddy, you’re really something, actually ranking in the top five in the exam! In my opinion, if Qi Chuanyu didn’t take Medicinal Pills, you could definitely beat him.”

Liao Zhongyang felt a surge of pride: “You’re right, that guy takes top-grade Medicinal Pills, one costs almost a million. If money were no object, I definitely wouldn’t lose to him.”

Shen Bei, however, shook his head: “You can’t quite say that. We don’t judge heroes by data alone, do we? If you don’t have any Martial Skills, you might not really be able to beat him.”

“I don’t have any Martial Skills?” Liao Zhongyang pointed at himself, scoffing: “Forget Qi Chuanyu, even you, with your high 90 attribute points, so what? In a real fight, I’m not afraid!”

“Hiss!”

Shen Bei’s eyes sparkled with excitement: “That powerful?”

“Shall we find a place to try it out?”

Liao Zhongyang’s face showed an arrogant smile. He looked down at Shen Bei with a condescending gaze, as if looking down at a lowly ant, and continued: “Do you admit that you’re just an empty general?”

Shen Bei naturally understood the term “empty general” here.

It meant that Shen Bei had attributes but no Martial Skills!

As they discussed this, Shen Bei revealed the smugness of an old fox whose plan had succeeded.

He had indeed found the right person!

Liao Zhongyang was someone he could exploit!

Shen Bei immediately put on a serious face: “What, you know Martial Skills? You’re bragging a bit too much.”

“I certainly don’t know genuine Martial Skills; that requires going to the Martial Arts University and being guided by teachers.”

Liao Zhongyang continued proudly: “But I do know some basic boxing. So, I have a strategy to fight you, and you, with only brute force, definitely won’t be my opponent. Of course, I mean for now…”

Shen Bei’s eyes darted around, and he denied: “I don’t believe it! Unless you show me your basic boxing.”

“You stubborn mule!”

Liao Zhongyang pulled Shen Bei: “Come on, let’s go to a room upstairs. Today, buddy, I’ll open your eyes, you bumpkin!”
