418: Does Chou Ci have to solve it? I'll do it!

The first base camp of the Sichuan West Permanent Dungeon is called “Xirang.”

This name is truly a masterpiece.

Its meaning is profound.

At this moment, Shen Bei, led by Fu Jian, arrived at a camp.

Shen Bei looked around.

Inside a giant glass dome, hundreds of Military personnel were sleeping soundly in perfect unison.

If this were a kindergarten, it would undoubtedly be a heartwarming and beautiful scene.

The naughty children were finally asleep.

But within the Dungeon, it was, admittedly, a bit eerie and terrifying.

These Military personnel had their eyes tightly shut, as if they were struggling to keep them closed, or perhaps trying to open them but couldn’t.

Their facial muscles twitched occasionally, and from their outward appearance, it looked as if they were having nightmares.

At the same time, most of these unconscious Military personnel were quite thin.

They looked somewhat undernourished.

Shen Bei also learned that the reason they were isolated by a glass dome was that one couldn't get close; once near a sleeping person, one would immediately be dragged into their dream.

“Are they just… sleeping like this?”

Shen Bei asked, puzzled.

This question wasn't just about simple sleep.

How were their vital signs maintained?

After all, in a sleeping state, one cannot chew food to provide the body with nutrition.

Just as Fu Jian was about to answer, a voice came from behind them before he could speak: “Their vital signs are maintained daily by nutrient solutions, but even nutrient solutions aren't as nutritious as eating grains.”

Shen Bei turned his head, following the sound.

A man in a Military uniform appeared before Shen Bei.

He had sharp, hawk-like eyes, a high, chiseled nose, broad shoulders, and a calm expression that naturally exuded an aura of authority, and when this authority combined with his efforts to appear kind, it created a sense of sincerity and honesty.

“Yu Buxiu, one of the Ten Heavenly Kings,”

Fu Jian whispered, reminding him.

Shen Bei immediately showed respect, stepping forward to shake his hand: “I’ve heard much about you, I’ve heard much about you.”

In reality, Shen Bei had never heard of this person, but Fu Jian's reminder that the man opposite him was one of the Ten Heavenly Kings—a title awe-inspiring enough to be considered the boss of the Western Military Region—was sufficient.

Yu Buxiu seemed unaccustomed to shaking hands; he hesitated for a second before extending his hand, saying in a puzzled tone: “Bai Wei actually didn’t recruit you into the Military?”

Shen Bei naturally understood the unspoken meaning; if he were Military, the greeting wouldn't be a handshake but a salute.

Shen Bei grinned: “It’s truly because I have a tarnished record; joining the Military would lower the overall quality.”

Yu Buxiu stared blankly for three seconds before his face seemed to start up like a machine, and he said out of nowhere: “This is the first time I’ve heard such an excuse…”

Shen Bei didn’t feel embarrassed; no matter the excuse, the only question was whether it worked or not.

Yu Buxiu didn't dwell on the issue, instead asking: “However, you, Shen Bei, still have influence; wanting to learn Sichuan Opera Face Changing has alarmed quite a few people.”

Shen Bei didn’t beat around the bush, stating directly: “Mainly, the higher-ups received a strange item. I won’t go into specifics, but I’m working on solving the backlash problem of this item. So, some commotion is quite normal.”

“Oh?”

Yu Buxiu didn’t press further.

In reality, as the head of the Sichuan West Military, one of the Ten Heavenly Kings, he had long received news about what strange item the higher-ups had acquired.

It was nothing more than a mask that could transform into a mutated person.

It must be said, this item was truly incredible.

Yu Buxiu even suspected that the Fifth Dimension Attribute of Shen Bei or Zhuang Bifan, “Luck,” might be off the charts.

To still be able to find such an astonishing strange item in the Dungeon.

If it could truly be replicated and widely equipped to the Military, that would be incredibly powerful.

Although there were backlash effects, for Military personnel, they could sacrifice everything for the highest mission.

If Shen Bei was looking for a solution, it was no wonder the higher-ups were in a frenzy, traveling thousands of miles east and west to coordinate Shen Bei's matters.

Initially, Yu Buxiu thought Shen Bei was just indulging in whims.

Now, upon seeing this, it turned out he had serious business, and Yu Buxiu’s impression of Shen Bei improved significantly.

“What instructions do you have for coming to Sichuan West Abyss this time?”

Yu Buxiu asked playfully.

Shen Bei was startled; this sentence made it sound like his rank was higher than Yu Buxiu’s.

Shen Bei quickly waved his hand: “I wouldn’t dare say that; it would shorten my life. I’m just here to witness the methods of a Great Cultivator, who is even more powerful than a Martial God.”

Yu Buxiu’s expression suddenly turned serious. He pulled out a pack of cigarettes, flicked one out, and offered it to Shen Bei.

Shen Bei politely refused: “I don’t…”

“Then you’re missing out on some of a man’s pleasures.”

Yu Buxiu took a deep drag, scanning the hundred unconscious Military personnel: “This is really difficult to deal with; I don’t know when it will end.”

Fu Jian shrugged beside him: “Didn’t they say we could try General? He’s more knowledgeable about dream interpretation, isn’t he? Why haven’t the higher-ups coordinated him over yet?”

This was also something that made Fu Jian a bit angry.

Although Shen Bei had some fame, the seriousness of the situation was far less critical than the collective unconsciousness of the Military personnel here.

Good heavens.

Shen Bei made one phone call, and the people above reacted immediately, making arrangements right away.

But for the matters within the Sichuan West Abyss, it had been so long, and all sorts of methods had been tried, except for General, and no matter what was said, he couldn't be brought over.

He truly couldn't understand what the people above were thinking.

Fu Jian had also urged Yu Buxiu multiple times to speak up and quickly get General transferred over.

But Yu Buxiu had made no moves.

It made Fu Jian want to curse.

At this moment, Shen Bei was startled by the name General: “He can interpret dreams?”

“He just has more research in this area,” Yu Buxiu said in a muffled voice: “It’s not that if he comes back, the problem will be solved, but at least he’s better than us in this regard.”

“Come back?” Fu Jian seemed to grasp the key phrase, raising a huge question.

He… went out?

Shen Bei quietly explained: “That guy was held down by the Imperial Dynasty of the Central Continent…”

Fu Jian: ???

Shen Bei briefly explained the entire situation.

Fu Jian’s mouth twitched then…

He couldn't help but gasp: “How… how exciting!”

Shen Bei shrugged.

Fu Jian now had a complete understanding.

After the Military personnel here were dragged into dreams by the Dungeon’s Great Cultivator, they spent a long time searching for various solutions.

By the time they thought of looking for General, it was already half a year ago.

It turned out General and Heaven-Shaking Slave fought and fell into the Dungeon…

No wonder there was no news of him.

The three of them walked around the camp for a while.

Yu Buxiu’s tone became meaningful: “Alright, take Shen Bei around, and then he can leave.”

Shen Bei hummed, saying: “Actually… I want to try it.”

He really wanted to experience it.

But Yu Buxiu frowned, naturally knowing what Shen Bei meant, and his tone suddenly became serious: “This isn’t something you can handle. Last time, three people got stuck; it’s just a continuous sacrifice. Let’s wait until General comes back.”

Shen Bei rubbed his hands: “I’m an adult.”

The meaning was clear: I will be responsible for my own actions.

Yu Buxiu’s gaze suddenly changed, simply put, from “citizen looking at citizen” to “police looking at criminal,” and his tone also changed from polite to a sharp reprimand: “Nonsense! Other Martial Artists who enter cannot break free from the dream, so what makes you, Shen Bei, different?”

“Dinner is ready. Take him to eat, then send him off.”

After refusing, Yu Buxiu strode away.

Shen Bei and Fu Jian exchanged glances.

“What did I come here for?” Shen Bei asked Fu Jian.

“Are you sure?”

“Of course!”

“Then let’s do it; I’ll go with you!”
