420: Don’t be polite, just corpse transform!

In some Living Dead-themed movies Shen Bei had watched, Living Dead might be somewhat immune to damage, with their limbs continuing to move even after being severed, but they would generally truly die if their heads were cut off.

Presumably, no matter how much these Living Dead defied common sense, they ultimately had to rely on their heads to command their bodies.

However, the Living Dead in this dream was different.

Even after Shen Bei had clearly struck off its head, its body merely stumbled back two steps due to the force of the blow, then continued to lunge at Shen Bei as if nothing had happened.

The head, which had fallen to the ground, still had wide, angry eyes and could roar.

What greatly surprised Shen Bei was that he had already severed its vocal cords with the oil paper earlier, yet now it was behaving illogically, just like a 'dream'.

"A bit interesting..."

Shen Bei's expression became like someone walking in the rain and encountering a large, unavoidable puddle.

Shen Bei struck again, continuously slashing with the oil paper, like a psychologically twisted professor in a biology lab facing his test subject.

After four flashes like a blade, the room alternately brightened and dimmed, and then the Living Dead's limbs and torso fell to the ground, splattering foul blood on the carpet.

Even so, its limbs still tried to crawl towards Shen Bei like snakes, and its torso squirmed disgustingly like a fish thrown on the ground, while its head, which had rolled nearby, continued to roar furiously.

Shen Bei clicked his tongue several times.

This kind of evil vitality, still struggling and moving after being dismembered, would probably leave even the most resolute person with psychological trauma.

According to Shen Bei's estimation, even if he cut it into smaller pieces, it wouldn't truly die; it would merely be unable to move due to a lack of joints.

"If this dream created by Da Shouzi could be brought back to reality, that would be truly exciting."

"It's practically a perpetual motion machine of flesh."

Shen Bei felt not a trace of fear towards this strange phenomenon; instead, his thoughts raced.

He kicked the still-moving limbs on the ground far away, then Shen Bei walked to the room's window and looked outside.

This seemed to be an ancient town.

No, to be precise, it should be similar in architectural style to the Underground World.

Below was the town street, with scattered figures wandering on the road.

Since it was night, he couldn't see clearly, but judging from the swaying way those figures walked, they were undoubtedly Living Dead.

"Where did Fu Jian go..."

Just as Shen Bei was wondering, chaotic roars and running sounds came from the corridor, indicating that the noise here had attracted other Living Dead in the inn.

Shen Bei had no choice but to stop thinking for a moment and left the room.

At both ends of the corridor, two or three Living Dead were rushing over with ferocious faces.

Although they posed little threat to Shen Bei, a Martial Artist, Shen Bei couldn't stand there doing nothing.

If he were to be cut by their teeth or claws, even a tiny scratch could lead to a cursed infection, turning him into an Living Dead.

Thinking of this, Shen Bei couldn't help but wonder if the Military personnel dragged into the dream had all become Living Dead.

While thinking, Shen Bei either turned the Living Dead blocking his path into building-block-like parts or simply threw them aside.

At the same time, while exploring the entire inn, Shen Bei also found a machete.

Although it was rusty, it was much better than oil paper.

At this point, Shen Bei didn't hold much hope of finding Fu Jian; his priority was to find a way to escape the dream.

According to his previous conversations with Yu Buxiu and Fu Jian, their most basic understanding was that the simplest method was to kill the dreamer within the dream.

Once killed, the physical body in the outside world would awaken.

After all, if the 'medium' of the 'dream' was shattered, the dream would naturally disappear.

But judging by the current situation...

The situation seemed very bad.

After all, the few Living Dead Shen Bei had just 'defeated' were merely 'defeated' in a literal sense, not truly killed.

Even Living Dead transformed from Military personnel could not be killed, and thus could not awaken from the dream.

It seemed almost... unsolvable.

But there should also be symbolic objects formed by the mapping of its mind within the dream.

Perhaps it was a person, perhaps an Living Dead, perhaps an item; in any case, the goal was to find it and destroy it. But would it be that easy?

Perhaps its symbolic mapping in the dream was also an incredibly powerful entity, in which case Shen Bei would be stumped and helpless.

There were other methods to escape the dream, but they were much more complicated, and Shen Bei didn't know them; perhaps only General could handle them.

But when General could be brought back to the earth's surface by Bai Wei and others was also an unknown.

Although this dream appeared to be an unsolvable state, this did not prevent Shen Bei from feeling extremely excited, with his blood coursing with fervor.

"The more complex it is, the more I can glimpse the depth of a Great Cultivator of Divine Power Realm. Too simple would be uninteresting."

Shen Bei licked his lips and continued to move silently along the inn corridor.

Suddenly, Shen Bei's peripheral vision caught something in the distance, and he immediately stopped and hid around the corner of the corridor.

He peered out to observe and clearly saw the object's full appearance.

It was a Werewolf, with black fur drenched in blood, a three-meter-tall rotten body, emanating a stench of decay, and it was facing away from Shen Bei, gnawing on something's flesh.

What puzzled Shen Bei was that in this dream, it was understandable that the Living Dead's rank couldn't be seen, given their 'dead' attribute.

But the Werewolf in front of him also had no visible rank.

According to classification, Werewolves were not uncommon in the Underground World.

They were simply 'wolves' that could stand and fight.

The term was merely a figurative name because they possessed the 'standing' posture of a human.

Essentially, it was still a Vicious Beast.

Since it was a Vicious Beast, it should have a rank!

Yet, in the dream, there was none...

"Strange..."

Shen Bei was tempted to test his skills against this Werewolf.

After much deliberation, he decided against it.

This was not his objective; finding the Military personnel trapped in the dream and discussing ways to escape the dream was the important task.

Shen Bei directly retreated, silently bypassing it.

After a good deal of exploration, Shen Bei could only regretfully conclude that there were indeed no other living people in the hotel besides himself.

And with insufficient clues, he didn't know what other objects he should pay attention to.

Shen Bei decided to go outside the inn.

Moving silently in the shadows of the unfamiliar street, he could mostly avoid the Living Dead's perception, but occasionally he would be noticed.

Shen Bei didn't understand where he had given himself away; he had clearly used the Hidden Breath Technique, yet he was still perceived. He could only say that there were too many unknowns in this dream.

Whenever this happened, Shen Bei would simply cut down the Living Dead that were following most closely.

The Living Dead posed no real threat, they were just disgusting and knew no fear; even when Shen Bei released the pressure of a Seventh Rank Martial Artist, he still couldn't deter them.

So, he could only cut them down... then regroup, re-enter stealth, and repeat the cycle.

Not long after.

Shen Bei suddenly heard sounds of fighting coming from another street ahead.

"Hmm?" Shen Bei's pupils slowly widened: "Are those living people?"

Shen Bei didn't hesitate and quickly ran towards it.

He thought to himself, it must be living people, please don't add the word 'dead'...
