120: Reward
Upon reaching the Military Camp, Lin Yue first arranged for ten thousand White Horse Righteous Cavalry to find their quarters, while he led the Generals towards the main tent.
"Lord, why are there White Horse Righteous Cavalry here just like ours?" Xing Daorong pointed at the cavalry Soldiers who were training, asking with some curiosity.
This was actually the question in the hearts of all the Military Generals, but Xing Daorong had asked it first. They were all staring at Lin Yue, wanting to know what was going on.
"Let's discuss it inside the tent."
Lin Yue was the first to step into the main tent, sitting down in the middle. The other Military Generals followed closely behind him.
"Sit!" Lin Yue gestured with his hand!
"Understood!" Everyone took their seats in order, accepting the command.
"A month ago, I was promoted to Commandant. General She Jian allocated twenty thousand White Horse Righteous Cavalry and cavalry Soldiers to me, ordering me to replenish the troops!
These Soldiers were all trained by Zhao Yun over the past month," Lin Yue told the Generals.
"Lord, you've been promoted again?" Xing Daorong blurted out, sounding somewhat incredulous.
"Quiet, what nonsense are you spouting?" Pan Feng immediately reprimanded him in a low voice.
"Yes, so, do you have an opinion?" Lin Yue asked displeased. How could a perfectly good statement change its meaning when it came out of his mouth?
Everyone burst into laughter. Seeing Xing Daorong shrink his neck, Lin Yue continued:
"This time, General She Jian only arranged official positions below the Centurion level. All the others are reserved for us. My suggestion is that all these positions be filled by veteran White Horse Righteous Cavalry with outstanding military achievements. What are your thoughts?" Lin Yue asked.
He scanned everyone, and seeing the fervent light in their eyes, he presumed no one had any objections, so he continued:
"Li Mu, draw up a list and submit it to me tomorrow afternoon."
"Understood!" Li Mu stood up to accept the order!
Upon hearing this, several people frantically hinted at Li Mu, but Li Mu acted as if he hadn't seen anything and remained unmoved.
Ever since Lin Yue rushed to Xianyang Imperial City, the White Horse Righteous Cavalry, as vanguards, hadn't fought any major battles, but minor skirmishes were constant. There were always audacious Xiongnu cavalry or bandits appearing, and they had killed many, but with Lin Yue absent, they received no official titles or rewards.
Now that the Lord had been promoted to Commandant, all these problems were resolved!
"Now I'll arrange your positions. Oh, Zi Long, please call Du Tong and Du Song over," Lin Yue instructed, then said to Pan Feng:
"Pan Feng, your reward this time is the most generous.
General She Jian is transferring you from the White Horse Righteous Cavalry to the infantry to serve as a Commandant!"
Commandant!
Everyone was startled; this was a two-rank promotion!
He had suddenly risen from a Military Marquis, who commanded three thousand men, to a Commandant, who commanded thirty thousand men!
"Lord, I don't want to go. I want to serve under your command!" Pan Feng said, without the slightest hint of joy.
"Why?" Lin Yue asked, puzzled.
"That's right, Lao Pan, a Commandant is on the same rank as the Lord!
If you don't want to go, then I'll go!" Xing Daorong said with a laugh.
Lin Yue glanced at Xing Daorong, wondering if telling him that someone didn't want him would hurt his feelings. In the end, he thought about it and decided not to say it.
"I only wish to serve by the Lord's side!" Pan Feng said.
"Pan Feng, if you go there, you will command thirty thousand troops. During campaigns, you can form a pincer movement with me and still assist me!
Perhaps you will achieve many military merits in the future, and when you become a General, you might even promote me to Colonel!" Lin Yue made a joke, seeing the atmosphere was a bit heavy.
"Lao Pan, when the time comes, you can appoint me as a Commandant, and I'll still serve under the Lord!" Xing Daorong patted his shoulder and said with a laugh.
"This matter has been decided, Pan Feng, you should go.
Even after you become a Commandant, you will still be in the Shenmu Military Camp, just like me, so there's no difference from before.
After the meeting, I will take you to General She Jian for your formal appointment." Lin Yue interrupted Pan Feng, who was still trying to decline, and settled the matter directly.
Pan Feng was utterly loyal to him; his being a Commandant was no different from himself being one. Could he really let a Commandant position that was within reach slip away?
This matter absolutely could not go wrong!
"Understood." Pan Feng's mood brightened considerably upon hearing that he would still be in this Military Camp. He then cupped his hands and accepted the order, thus accepting the reality.
He thought that what the Lord said was right: making himself stronger was also a way to protect the Lord!
"Lord, the Du brothers have been brought!" Zhao Yun entered the main tent and said.
"Let them in." Lin Yue said.
Then, the two saw a group of unfamiliar Military Generals in the main tent, presumably the Commandant's former subordinates. They all appeared to be brave Generals, and some of them were no less courageous than the two brothers!
Then, the two cupped their hands to Lin Yue and said, "This humble general greets the Commandant!"
"Find a place to sit." Lin Yue said with a smile, then cleared his throat and said, "Xing Daorong, Liu Sandao, Du Tong, where are you!"
"This humble general is here!" The three said simultaneously. Du Tong had barely touched his butt to the chair before he abruptly stood up.
"The three of you will be the Captains of the White Horse Righteous Cavalry, leading a unit of troops!"
"Understood!" The three showed expressions of joy, especially Du Tong. The matter he had been pondering day and night for the past month was finally settled!
"Du Song is promoted to Military Marquis, and Zhao Yun will be the Military Marquis of the personal guard unit, accompanying me!"
"Understood!" Du Song and Zhao Yun also stood up to receive the order. Du Song flashed a white-toothed smile, as both he and his elder brother had been promoted by one rank!
"Li Mu will remain a Military Marquis, but he will be responsible for the logistics of the entire White Horse Righteous Cavalry!"
"Understood!" Li Mu responded.
He had only recently broken through to High-level Military General. His current strength was indeed not sufficient for the position of Captain of the White Horse Righteous Cavalry. The Martial Power of the three Captains was much higher than his, all of them being Ranked Military Generals, so he hadn't considered himself from the beginning, and naturally, he felt no disappointment.
"Good, after you leave, each of you will lead your respective troops and intensify training!" Lin Yue said.
He wanted the White Horse Righteous Cavalry to be in their strongest state before attacking the Xiongnu in the north!
"Understood!" The Generals responded loudly, then happily went out to receive their new subordinates.
"Pan Feng, you will come with me to see General She Jian." Lin Yue said.
"Understood!"
"No need for you to come find me, I'm here!" A hearty laugh came, and then She Jian stepped into the main tent.
"General, why have you come?" Lin Yue walked down and asked.
"Your voices are so loud, and I'm not deaf. How could I not know you've returned?" She Jian said with a laugh, then patted Pan Feng's breastplate, his face full of admiration.
"Pan Feng, come with me. I have an infantry unit under my command that lacks a leader, and I think you're very suitable." She Jian said.
"As the General commands!" Pan Feng responded.
"From now on, you're my man. I won't give you to anyone else!
Hahaha, come with me!" After She Jian finished speaking, he didn't even look at Lin Yue and eagerly led Pan Feng out.
Lin Yue couldn't help but laugh. She Jian was already a General, yet he still acted like a child.
Lin Yue escorted the two to the entrance, saw the Generals all giving instructions to their Soldiers, smiled, and then returned to his quarters to begin cultivating his martial arts. He couldn't continue like this, lest She Jian always make fun of him.
More than three months had passed since the game launched. He heard that a few players on the forum had already reached the realm of High-level Military General. Despite all his fortuitous encounters, he was still a bit short of Mid-Level Military General, which was somewhat embarrassing.
But this also showed that the Great Xia players were truly full of hidden talents!
He, too, should work harder.
