66: Xianyang City

Early the next morning, the two got up early and headed to the location of the Heavenly Tier Teleportation Array.

The exterior of the Heavenly Tier Teleportation Array was built from milky white stone, its shape somewhat similar to a Bagua array, yet with slight differences.

“Halt!” a Soldier shouted loudly.

“We two wish to go to Xianyang,” Li Mu said.

“To Xianyang City, it’s twenty taels of silver per person per trip. Pay over there,” the Soldier said, pointing to the side.

“Thank you,” Lin Yue said, then went to pay.

The process was actually similar to buying tickets in reality: choose the destination, and a dedicated person would write out the ticket in duplicate, handing one copy to Lin Yue and saying, “Keep it safe. If you arrive in the capital Xianyang without a ticket, you’ll be arrested.”

“Thank you,” Lin Yue said with a smile, then went to the Heavenly Tier Teleportation Array and handed the two tickets to the Soldier.

“Please wait a moment, sirs. This activation of the Teleportation Array is still short one person. We can only teleport once we have ninety-nine people,” the Soldier explained, while leading the two to the gathering point to wait.

“It is said that using the Heavenly Tier Teleportation Array once is quite costly, which is why they try to teleport as many people as possible at one time,” Li Mu explained to Lin Yue.

Lin Yue nodded silently, indicating his understanding.

Soon, a Fat Man came running over, panting. Lin Yue saw that it was the same person from the restaurant yesterday.

Seeing that the number of people was sufficient, the Soldier led everyone into the center of the array and said in a deep voice, “Don’t panic in a moment. You’d best close your eyes, and when you open them again, you will be in the capital Xianyang.”

The Soldier’s tone held a hint of envy. His job was to guide people through the teleportation, but due to the exorbitant price, he had never experienced it himself, which inevitably left him with some regret.

“Array activated!” a Soldier shouted!

“Brothers, open your eyes wide and take a good look! This is what a Heavenly Tier Teleportation Array is!

If you think it’s awesome, click 666 and send some donations!” The man started talking to himself again.

Everyone felt their vision go black instantly, followed by a wave of dizziness. After an unknown amount of time, Lin Yue slowly opened his eyes and found that the scene before him was vastly different!

Everyone had appeared inside the imperial capital, Xianyang City!

“Please walk forward a hundred paces, everyone. Do not crowd, leave in an orderly fashion.”

Lin Yue and Li Mu followed the instructions and walked forward.

“Why did the live stream cut out at such a crucial moment!” The man cursed softly, then felt eyes on him. He turned to look, then nodded gently at Lin Yue, smiling awkwardly but politely.

“He’s a strange one,” Li Mu said, puzzled, then turned to Lin Yue and said, “Commander, I know where Senior Minister Meng’s residence is. Please follow me.”

The two hurried along, and Lin Yue was astonished like a country bumpkin entering the city, exclaiming repeatedly!

Look at this road, it’s long and wide!

Compared to the roads in Xiangping City, it’s more than ten times wider!

This was just the tip of the iceberg; he couldn’t imagine what a city capable of holding three hundred million people would truly look like!

“Commander, we need to take a carriage,” Li Mu said, taking the initiative to lead Lin Yue to one.

Lin Yue thought it was indeed necessary to take a carriage; otherwise, walking across Xianyang City, which could accommodate three hundred million people, would be somewhat unrealistic!

Then he walked out of the Teleportation Array, where many carriages were waiting. The two picked one and sat down.

After a bumpy ride, the two entered the inner city, turned into the East City, and finally found the approximate location.

“Sirs, this is Xuanwu Street, not far from Xianyang Palace. The street is full of high-ranking officials and nobles. Prime Minister Li Si and Senior Minister Meng Yi both live here. Are you sure you haven’t come to the wrong place?” the coachman kindly reminded them.

“This is it. Please stop up ahead. How much?” Li Mu asked.

“One tael of silver,” the coachman said with a grin.

“One tael of silver?!” Lin Yue exclaimed!

One tael of silver was enough for an ordinary person to live for two years, yet in Xianyang City, it was only enough for one carriage ride?

“Living in Xianyang City is not easy, so this price is fair,” Li Mu said, reaching out to hand the money to the coachman, but Lin Yue beat him to it: “I’ll do it.”

Then the coachman thanked them and drove away.

The two stopped in front of a grand mansion. Above the main gate, the plaque read ‘Meng Residence’!

“Knock, knock, knock.” Lin Yue knocked on the side door of the Meng Residence.

“Creak!”

A white-bearded, stooped old man opened the door and looked at the two.

Then he said with some surprise, “Young Master Li?”

Lin Yue was a bit confused upon hearing this. Could it be that the two knew each other?

“Butler Fu, I am here this time to deliver a letter for the Great General.

This is my comrade-in-arms, Commander Lin Yue,” Li Mu said with a smile to Butler Fu.

“Come in quickly. The Second Young Master has not yet returned from court, so you two will have to wait for a bit,” Butler Fu nodded briefly to Lin Yue and then ushered the two into the mansion.

The mansion itself was not overly luxurious, but it was very tasteful. Butler Fu led the two all the way to the guest hall, instructed a servant to bring two cups of tea, and then withdrew.

“Li Mu, you two know each other?” Lin Yue finally couldn’t resist his curiosity and asked.

“We’ve met a few times,” Li Mu said with a smile.

Perhaps Li Mu had delivered letters for the Great General before? Lin Yue thought to himself.

The two chatted idly from time to time, waiting bored for Meng Yi to return.

“You two have waited long, you must be tired!” Before he was seen, his voice was heard.

The two quickly stood up, only to see a handsome, scholarly man smiling as he stepped through the door.

“Lin Yue (Li Mu) greets Senior Minister!” The two bowed respectfully.

Meng Yi smiled and helped the two up: “No need for such formality, please rise quickly.”

“Senior Minister, this is a letter from the Great General for you,” Lin Yue handed the spatial ring to Meng Yi.

Meng Yi did not shy away from them, calmly took out the letter, and began to read it.

He quickly scanned it a few times, then put it away. He then took out fifty taels of silver from the same spatial ring and handed it to Lin Yue.

“Senior Minister, absolutely not!” Lin Yue declined.

“Ah, this is not from me to you, it’s from my elder brother to you,” Meng Yi, seeing Lin Yue’s confusion, continued, “My elder brother is a meticulous person and not good at expressing himself, so he came up with this method.”

Seeing that the two still refused to accept, he asked, “How long did my elder brother give you to return?”

“The Great General gave us seven days,” Lin Yue said.

“You came by Teleportation Array, didn’t you? Otherwise, do you think you could make it in seven days on horseback?” Meng Yi said with a smile.

Lin Yue shook his head. On horseback, let alone seven days, a month wouldn’t be enough.

“Then that’s right. The price of you taking the Teleportation Array isn’t cheap, is it? My elder brother had already calculated it and was afraid you wouldn’t accept, which is why he resorted to this last resort,” Meng Yi explained to the two.

“Then This humble general will respectfully accept,” Lin Yue said, only then accepting the money.

“A teachable young man,” Meng Yi said with a smile. “I will write a reply shortly. Living in Xianyang is not easy, so I’ll have Butler Fu arrange guest rooms for you. You two can stay here for now, and tomorrow I will give you the reply.”

“Understood,” the two replied.

“Also, you don’t need to rush back. You can stay here for now and explore Xianyang City during the day,” Meng Yi said, then turned to Li Mu and said, “You can go home and see your family. Your father misses you very much.”

“Understood,” the two replied.

Lin Yue secretly glanced at Li Mu. From what he heard, Li Mu’s father knew Meng Yi? Remembering Li Mu saying his family had been scholars for generations, could it be that he served in the same court as Meng Yi?

It seemed Li Mu’s identity was not simple!

“Good, let Butler Fu take you to your rooms,” Meng Yi smiled. Butler Fu had already appeared at the doorway, waiting for the two.
