413: What are the benefits

As the sun dipped in the west, Lin Yue stood outside the hall.

He recalled The First Emperor's command, feeling a touch of emotion.

The First Emperor was a proud man, one who didn't use those he doubted, but fully trusted those he used.

Although Lin Yue had never met Tu Sui, he knew of his fate.

Tu Sui ultimately died in Lingnan, and it was his successors, Ren Xiao and Zhao Tuo, who officially established commanderies there.

Though the course of history had already changed, Lin Yue wasn't particularly optimistic about him.

This was because Tu Sui's situation was even worse now than in history; historically, the various tribes of Lingnan were scattered, but now Tu Sui faced a Nanyue Kingdom that was familiar with the terrain and gradually unifying, as well as an Army that were the ancestors of 'guerrilla warfare,' whose willpower had once astonished the world, fighting one miraculous war after another. Although the current Army were not direct participants in those wars, their willpower was not much inferior.

Lin Yue wasn't optimistic about Tu Sui's desire to counterattack under these circumstances.

However, nothing is absolute, especially in war.

Perhaps Tu Sui might even achieve divine status in a single battle.

Because Commandant of the Guards Li Xin, after receiving the blessing of national fortune, although his precise Martial Power value couldn't be seen now, 99+ was already the level of a historical Military General.

As the commander of the Lingnan Army Corps, Tu Sui's Martial Power value wouldn't be much lower. Moreover, this Lingnan Army had participated in Wang Jian's conquest of Chu, possessing strong inherent strength and excellent equipment; they had only been defeated the previous night due to a surprise attack.

Now, united in their hatred for the enemy, it was not impossible for them to break through the Nanyue Kingdom, which was generally considered 'incapable of fighting,' in one fell swoop.

As for the 'Otherworldly Organization,' although their willpower was tenacious, they were ultimately a minority. The majority of Soldiers in their Army were composed of 'vagrants' spawned by the system. Lin Yue made no judgment on their willpower, but the individual Martial Power of a single Soldier would certainly not be too high.

Therefore, Lin Yue could not rashly predict victory or defeat.

However, Lin Yue was also puzzled: what was the 'Otherworldly Organization' thinking? What benefit did fighting Great Qin bring them?

..."What benefit do you think this brings us?"

In a mountain stronghold in Lingnan.

A Military General dressed in armor wore a face full of worry.

"Lingxiao, don't complain." The person opposite him sighed.

"Uncle Chen, tell me, where is the logic in helping outsiders fight your own people?" Lingxiao became a bit agitated upon hearing this.

"Mind your stance, and this isn't something we can decide. You also know that once Tu Sui breaks through Lingnan, where will we have a place to survive?

Now, apart from the Western Army barely holding on, all three armies have gone underground. Our Southern Army is the last remaining overt force. Think about how much hardship you've endured here. Do you want all of this to go to waste?" Uncle Chen retorted, looking calm and collected.

"If you ask me, we should just directly break through the Nanyue Kingdom. Fighting those ungrateful wretches is always better than fighting them." Seeing his demeanor, Lingxiao didn't reply but muttered to himself.

"You also know that the Nanyue Kingdom has already established its state here. In fact, not just the Nanyue Kingdom, but the Myanmar Kingdom and others here have successively established their states. Most of them divide their territories according to reality, cease hostilities, and preserve their strength for the future. But what about us?

Their indigenous people are vulnerable and can be easily integrated, but what about us?

You're not unaware of what Great Qin is like. If we don't hold onto the territory of Lingnan, where do you expect us to go?" Uncle Chen also became a bit agitated seeing him still in this manner.

Who among them wanted to do this?

Of the entire million-strong Army, nine out of ten didn't want to do this, but if you don't do it, plenty of others will. If they can't control the Soldiers, can't they control you?

He was also forced into it.

"I don't understand your intricate dealings." Lingxiao waved his hand, but his momentum had weakened slightly.

"Ah, you're just childish!" Uncle Chen sighed heavily.

Lingxiao remained silent upon hearing this.

"I know you're upset, but doing this doesn't mean we'll let them off the hook.

Think about it, Tu Sui no longer has his arrogant demeanor of the past. He's tightened his defenses, holed up in one place, and even abandoned some of the territories he previously occupied.

But do you think Qin Shi Huang is someone who would let things go?

You also know that the Qin Army achieved a great victory in the north; the Xiongnu were routed seven thousand li in one battle. Now, the Xiongnu can't even muster the thought of resistance. Think about it, the morale of Great Qin is currently at its peak.

Now that Lingnan has suffered a great defeat, do you believe that Xianyang will immediately send reinforcements?

Will those ungrateful wretches have a good outcome then?" Uncle Chen took a sip of tea, also full of disdain.

"You mean, then we can..." Lingxiao perked up at the words.

"The higher-ups have their own ideas. Our duty is to obey orders and execute them," Uncle Chen said sternly.

"Old Hua, we've been friends for so many years. Just give me the lowdown." Lingxiao's face was full of smiles.

"Ah, you're just like a dog!" Uncle Chen gave him a helpless look, then whispered, "You also know that the higher-ups have signed a treaty with these ungrateful wretches, right?"

"Mm, I know!" Lingxiao nodded.

"I'm telling you, although a treaty was signed, the higher-ups have long formulated a strategy. Now, everything is ready; we just need Great Qin to send someone.

The people from Xianyang have sent word that their Military Generals are as numerous as carp crossing the river, especially those from history. Each one is a mythical Military General with over a hundred Martial Power, and there are many First-rate Military Generals!

The surrounding small countries aren't enough for them to fight now, and we're still far from that level, so we can completely..." Uncle Chen spoke mysteriously, his voice growing softer and softer.

"Recruit them?" Lingxiao looked surprised!

"Recruit my ass!" Uncle Chen's face showed some anger, then he said, "Don't forget your identity, kid!"

"I know, I know, I was just joking." Lingxiao looked sheepish.

"Just looking at you makes me angry. How did your father raise a son like you? Get out!" Uncle Chen fumed.

"Alright, I got it. Then I'll go out and check on the injured Soldiers." Lingxiao smiled and stood up.

"After checking on the injured Soldiers, remember to entertain those two Military Generals. After all, they're not our own people, so we still need to show them due respect!" Uncle Chen instructed.

"What respect? They're not even worth my shoe inserts." Lingxiao pouted disdainfully.

"Get out! Without them, how would you fight by yourself?" Uncle Chen was greatly annoyed: "You're not a small person anymore, why do you still have a child's temper!"

"I know, I know." Lingxiao quickened his pace as he walked out.

"And also, properly appease those indigenous people. The environment here is really too poor." Uncle Chen looked up and suddenly noticed Lingxiao walking out: "You little rascal, don't run!

Don't forget to have the Soldiers maintain vigilance. I guess Tu Sui won't let things go easily. If he really goes mad, our Ranked Military Generals, whom we've painstakingly cultivated, will probably suffer heavy casualties."

"I know, I know." Lingxiao sped up, and after leaving the room, he muttered to himself:

"I'd actually prefer him to go mad. An arrogant and imprudent fellow, the sooner he dies in battle, the sooner we can execute the next phase of our plan..."
