This night raid yielded another 2552 Merit Points. He now had 9573 Merit Points. If he accumulated a bit more, he could exchange them for some equipment for the village.

As Lin Yue was contemplating, a series of “Colonel” calls interrupted his thoughts.

“Colonel!”

Hooves clattered. She Jian was on horseback, followed by Li Rupo and other Military Generals from Liaodong Commandery.

“Colonel Gong Lin, I heard you captured the enemy chieftain alive amidst ten thousand soldiers?” She Jian asked with a smile.

“Hehe, I got a bit carried away then, didn’t expect it to be so easy,” Colonel Gong Lin said, scratching his head, a little shy.

Easy my ass! Colonel Gong Lin’s body had just been bandaged and was now almost like a zongzi. He had nearly kicked the bucket just now, yet he was still being stubborn!

However, She Jian did not expose his little secret, but instead praised him: “As expected of a fine man of my Great Wall Legion! Allow me to celebrate your achievements when we return!”

“Thank you, Colonel!” Colonel Gong Lin’s mouth was now stretched to his ears. He glanced at Li Rupo, and seeing his ashen face, his mood was incredibly pleasant!

In tonight’s night raid, Colonel Gong Lin first led elite cavalry on a lone night raid, avoiding early detection and preparation by the enemy. Secondly, he captured the enemy chieftain alive. No matter how convoluted the process, the result was the same!

As soon as Chen Erniu spread the news of the Xiongnu King’s capture, most of the Xiongnu people surrendered, effectively controlling the enemy camp. This primary credit was undeniable!

“Someone, let’s discuss this in the main tent!” She Jian led the way into the Xiongnu King’s tent!

Everyone followed in an orderly fashion. Inside the King’s tent, chairs had been arranged at some point. Lin Yue took a seat at the far end.

After everyone was seated, a Military General stepped forward and loudly declared:

“Reporting to the Colonel, in this operation, a total of over 65,000 Juqu Tribe cavalry were slain, over 310,000 cavalry were captured, and over 700,000 women, children, and herders.

Five million cattle and six million sheep were captured. Countless cattle and sheep escaped during the chaos, and This humble general has sent people to search for them.

Additionally, two million horses were captured. A rough estimate suggests that about 400,000 of them can be used as warhorses!”

400,000 warhorses!

Everyone’s breathing hitched upon hearing these words!

One must know that only horses of excellent quality could be used as warhorses, and those were the lowest grade of warhorses.

For example, the horses of the White Horse Righteous Cavalry were Yellow-grade Mid-tier warhorses, while the horses of the Golden Fire Cavalry were Yellow-grade High-tier warhorses.

However, in local military forces, a cavalry unit composed entirely of excellent quality warhorses was already an object of envy for other military units!

These 400,000 warhorses could provide Great Qin with four Guards of cavalry, equivalent to the positions of four Colonels!

The man paused, then continued:

“This humble general estimates there are about 100,000 Yellow-grade warhorses, and about 30,000 Yellow-grade High-tier warhorses. The exact numbers will only be finalized tomorrow.”

Upon hearing this, the Military Generals in the hall immediately erupted into a clamor!

Apart from the Liaodong Garrison, all present were Military Generals of the Golden Fire Cavalry. The Yellow-grade High-tier warhorses could be used as their mounts, which was equivalent to expanding their cavalry by one camp of 30,000 men!

One must know that the Golden Fire Cavalry, at full strength, only numbered 300,000. This one camp was a significant number!

The newly expanded cavalry of Lin Yue and others, the Ten-Unit Cavalry, was a last resort. There weren’t enough Yellow-grade High-tier warhorses to form the Golden Fire Cavalry, so they had to settle for forming other cavalry units!

This time, they truly struck it rich!

This was the consensus of all the Military Generals!

“Cough!

The harvest this time is quite substantial. I will report to the Great General before deciding on its allocation,” She Jian said, then looked at everyone and declared: “Next, it’s time to award merits!”

The Generals’ expressions sharpened, and they all quietly awaited further instructions.

“The primary credit this time goes to Colonel Colonel Gong Lin!” She Jian announced. The Military Generals of the Great Wall Legion below had no doubts; with the credit for capturing the King, who dared to say it wasn’t the primary credit?

After all, this was not the late Ming Dynasty, where in the great victory of Liaojin, the top ten in the awards were all eunuchs, and Yuan Chonghuan, the main general, was ranked 86th. A five-year-old child, related to Wei Zhongxian, was ranked higher than him in the awards!

The laws of Great Qin were strict now, and such things could absolutely not happen. Colonel Gong Lin was the undisputed primary credit!

“Thank you, Colonel! This humble general will certainly shed the last drop of blood for Great Qin!” Colonel Gong Lin stood up, trembling with excitement, and said!

“Hmm, quickly sit down,” She Jian said after Colonel Gong Lin was seated, then continued: “Colonel Zhang Kai, takes second place!”

“Thank you, Colonel! This humble general is willing to go through fire and water for Great Qin, without hesitation!” Zhang Kai stood up and bowed!

During the previous night raid, when Colonel Gong Lin was surrounded, it was Zhang Kai who led a camp of Golden Fire Cavalry to attract most of the Xiongnu people forces, even arriving earlier than Chen Erniu, which accelerated the demise of the Juqu Tribe!

Second in merit, indisputable!

Next, merits were awarded in sequence. Chen Erniu was third, Pan Feng was fifth for capturing the Second-Rate Military General Fiyanggu alive, and Lin Yue was ninth for participating in the capture of the enemy chieftain!

“Everyone, if you have any questions, raise them now. If there are no objections, I will send this document to the Great General.

Once it reaches the Great General’s hands, whether it can be modified or not will no longer be something we can decide!” She Jian said in a deep voice.

Inside the Xiongnu King’s tent, the Generals had varied expressions, but most were joyful and excited.

However, there were a few exceptions, as the only ones not on the list were She Jian and the many Military Generals from Liaodong Commandery! She Jian was understandable; as the main general, the Great General would surely request credit for him. But the fact that not a single one of the Liaodong Commandery Generals made the list made the Great Wall Legion Generals extremely curious about what had happened.

At this moment, the Generals whispered among themselves. Uninformed Military Generals leaned in to quietly converse with informed ones, their gazes all directed towards Li Rupo and the others.

Lin Yue also leaned in to a Military General beside him. He heard the Military General say:

“Heh, this Li Rupo was first discovered by a unit of Nuzhen Tribe cavalry, and had no choice but to launch the attack Command prematurely.

Then, not long after running, he was actually attacked from the flank by a unit of Xiongnu Cavalry. If it weren’t for the Colonel holding the line at the rear, he would have probably been routed!”

The Military General vividly described the scene at the time to Lin Yue.

No wonder they were nearing the end, yet Li Rupo, as the main force in the center, was still nowhere to be seen. It turned out he had been attacked by Xiongnu Cavalry.

It’s just, how could it be such a coincidence?

Lin Yue looked at Li Rupo, somewhat puzzled. How could a night raid turn into an ambush instead?

Li Rupo felt uncomfortable under these gazes, and as a member of the Li family of Liaodong, he had no choice but to stiffen his resolve and stand up to ask:

“Lord Colonel, I, Li Rupo, know that I missed a crucial opportunity this time, but my Liaodong Garrison fought bravely and fearlessly against the Xiongnu Cavalry. Why is it that not a single person made the list?

Even if we have no merit, we at least put in the effort!”
