292: secret order

Lin Yue rode out alone, with the three riders of the Yang Family following closely behind him. Soon, he returned to the Encampment.

As soon as he arrived outside the Encampment, he saw a cavalry unit of about a hundred men waiting there. “This humble general greets the General!”

“Hmm.” Lin Yue nodded, stepping into the Encampment with a puzzled expression.

“My Lord, Commandant Wang Zhou is waiting for you in the main tent,” Zhao Yun said softly.

“I know. There’s nothing to do now, Zi Long, you should go rest,” Lin Yue said.

“Alright,” Zhao Yun replied with a smile.

Lin Yue then nodded and walked towards the main tent.

Seeing Lin Yue depart, Zhao Yun smiled and reached out to stop the three members of the Yang Family. “You three, come spar with me.”

The three men’s eyes lit up, and they responded loudly, “Understood!”

“Let’s go, to the training grounds.” Zhao Yun led the way to the training grounds, and the three men, taking their long spears from their horses, followed him.

“I apologize for not knowing of Commandant Wang’s esteemed presence and failing to greet you properly. Please forgive me,” Lin Yue said with a smile, cupping his hands. At the same time, he continuously observed Wang Zhou, not understanding why this personal guard of Wang Li had come to see him.

Seeing Lin Yue cup his hands, Wang Zhou quickly returned the bow. “I wouldn’t dare, I wouldn’t dare. This humble general is here by the Deputy Commander’s military order.”

“May I ask what military order the Deputy Commander has?” Lin Yue asked, raising an eyebrow.

Since his last return to the Encampment, he had rested for five or six days straight. Although the two Armies were about to meet, for some unknown reason, they had all stopped in unison.

Now, hearing of a military order, he instantly felt energized.

“The military order is on it, This humble general will take his leave first!” Wang Zhou handed the secret order to Lin Yue, then cupped his hands, preparing to depart.

Lin Yue escorted Wang Zhou outside the tent. Seeing Wang Zhou leave in a hurry, he returned to the main tent and opened the secret order.

“My unit as the vanguard?” Lin Yue read carefully, seeing his marching route, attack objective, and subsequent plans specified. He read until the very end, and only when he saw Wang Li’s seal stamped on it did he truly believe it.

He then paced within the main tent, eventually sitting down on a chair. He took out his communication token, held it to his lips, and asked, “General She Jian! General She Jian! If you receive this, please reply.”

After a few breaths, the communication token echoed back, “I’m here, what is it?”

“Have you received the military order?” Lin Yue asked.

“Someone delivered it to me right after you left,” She Jian’s flat voice replied.

“Then…” Lin Yue had just opened his mouth when She Jian’s voice interrupted him.

“The token is not a place for conversation, it’s not safe,” She Jian paused, then continued, “In short, just do as the military order says, don’t have any doubts.

This time, it’s pretty much what you expected. That’s all.”

“Understood,” Lin Yue responded, then tucked the communication token into his embrace.

At this moment, Supervisor Wang Zhi silently stepped into the main tent. Lin Yue stood up and, seeing Wang Zhi already in front of him, couldn’t help but ask, “Why do you walk without a sound?”

“Haha, this humble one has walked like this since childhood, I’m already used to it,” Wang Zhi said with a grin.

“Has no one ever told you that’s quite startling?” Lin Yue said helplessly.

“If you haven’t done anything wrong, you don’t fear a knock on the door from a ghost. Is the General feeling guilty?” Wang Zhi said as he sat down on a chair, simultaneously extending his hand, asking for something.

Lin Yue took out a can of happy fatty water from his spatial ring and handed it over. Wang Zhi, without any formality, opened it and poured it into his mouth.

“The box you gave me last time is all gone, give me some more,” Wang Zhi said with a smile.

“Drink less, drinking too much isn’t good for your health,” Lin Yue said helplessly.

“How is it not good?” Wang Zhi asked with a puzzled expression.

“Uh… it’s not bad at all, just drink as much as you like,” Lin Yue couldn't help but smile wryly, and handed him another box.

It is common knowledge that happy fatty water kills that… but Lin Yue momentarily forgot that this matter had nothing to do with Wang Zhi.

However, when insulting someone, one does not mention their shortcomings. If Lin Yue had truly spoken out, Wang Zhi would likely have chased him with a blade.

Now, his relationship with Wang Zhi had grown increasingly close. In his eyes, Wang Zhi was no longer a Supervisor, but his comrade-in-arms. This was because, unlike She Jian’s Supervisor Wang Fu'an, Wang Fu'an was very mysterious; Lin Yue had barely seen him a few times and he always contacted She Jian privately.

But Wang Zhi was different. Wang Zhi could be said to be constantly wandering around the Encampment. He would sometimes appear at the training grounds, sometimes at the infirmary. You might even turn your head while eating and see him beside you, eating the same food. Therefore, almost no one in the White Horse Camp, or even among the White Horse Righteous Cavalry, didn’t recognize this “Supervisor”!

As for the generals, their initial slight resistance and fear towards Wang Zhi had now turned into actively smiling and chatting with him when they encountered him.

In their hearts, Wang Zhi was already the person who would boast and joke with them daily, drink endlessly with them during gatherings, and charge forward with them, blade in hand, on the battlefield. They could already entrust their backs to each other!

It could be said that in just over a month, while Wei Liang was still struggling to integrate his unit, Wang Zhi had already been accepted by all the military officers and Soldiers.

When Lin Yue’s military officers now chatted with old acquaintances from other Armies, they would always ask, “What’s your Supervisor like?” When the other party looked as if they were scared into silence, they would burst into laughter, then proudly speak of Wang Zhi.

When the other party showed disbelief, they would shout “Lord Supervisor” at Wang Zhi’s back.

Every time, Wang Zhi would turn and smile, sometimes even walking over to chat with them.

Upon seeing the dumbfounded expressions of their old acquaintances, their inner satisfaction would be immense.

“Finished drinking?” Lin Yue asked mischievously. Wang Zhi’s reaction to happy fatty water was like that of a child in later generations seeing candy.

“Hmm, this stuff is good,” Wang Zhi said with an indifferent smile.

“Then let me tell you something,” Lin Yue said with a smile, then handed the secret order to Wang Zhi.

Wang Zhi wiped his hands and opened the secret order. As he looked up, his brow furrowed deeper and deeper, and his fair face showed a hint of tension and excitement.

Lin Yue stood silently beside him, quietly watching Wang Zhi.

Finally, just as Lin Yue was getting impatient, Wang Zhi refolded the secret order and returned it to Lin Yue.

Lin Yue took it and placed it in his spatial ring. Neither of them spoke.

Eventually, Wang Zhi couldn’t help but ask:

“Is this going to be a decisive battle?”
