423: It's all the trend you set.

The First Emperor's thirty-third year, July twenty-sixth.

More than ten days had passed since Lin Yue was impeached, and during this time, Lin Yue was as usual.

Every evening, Guo Jia would organize the information collected by the Heavenly Net and hand it over to Lin Yue, most of which was about Chunyu Yue's accusations of Lin Yue's atrocities at various banquets, but Lin Yue remained unmoved.

He knew very well that Chunyu Yue's behavior would not cause any significant trouble.

Because the circle Chunyu Yue belonged to was a group of people who were respected on the surface but few actually took them seriously. He just needed to let them jump around and entertain themselves, while he handled it with a cold shoulder.

"My Lord! I'll go kill that fellow!" Xing Daorong was the first to stand up, his eyes wide.

"A Rong, sit down!" Lin Yue smiled and stopped him.

"My Lord, I even heard that fellow insulting you at the Yanlai Brothel! My Lord, you don't know how awful he was, how can we tolerate this?" Xing Daorong broke free from Pan Feng's hand and sat down on the stool, fuming.

"Haha, I know, it's just those few phrases, nothing more." Lin Yue smiled with disdain.

"How did you know, My Lord?" Xing Daorong's face was full of suspicion.

Seeing this, Lin Yue took out a few letters from his spatial ring and threw them to A Rong.

Xing Daorong held them in his hand, looking puzzled: "What are these?"

"Letters where he curses me," Lin Yue said indifferently.

"Even an uncle can't tolerate it, let alone an aunt! He even wrote letters to you, My Lord, isn't this slapping us brothers in the face? I must go kill him!" Xing Daorong said angrily, his eyes red.

"A Rong, that saying is 'What can be tolerated, what cannot be tolerated,' not 'Even an uncle can't tolerate it, let alone an aunt.'" Pan Feng chuckled as he pulled Xing Daorong's sleeve.

"That's not important, what's important is that I can't tolerate it! I'm going to beat him until he sees his great-grandmother!" Xing Daorong tried to break free.

"He's so old, almost in his grave, his great-grandmother's ashes are long gone, so don't be impulsive!" Lin Yue was exasperated.

"My Lord is right, A Rong, don't be impulsive." Pan Feng held Xing Daorong tightly, echoing the sentiment.

"Lao Pan, My Lord is being insulted, how can you act like nothing's wrong?" Xing Daorong frowned and looked at Pan Feng upon hearing this.

Pan Feng looked helpless: "Why are you blaming me? My Lord naturally has his reasons for doing this."

Lin Yue also smiled and said, "A Rong, sit down quickly, you are not allowed to interfere in this matter."

Then he reiterated to the Generals: "None of you are allowed to interfere in this matter. Let him curse if he wants, we won't lose a piece of flesh. If any of you hit him, he's a scholar, not only will we get into deep trouble, but he will also gain unprecedented fame, so it's not worth it.

Let him jump around as much as he wants. This is just someone who's read himself silly; why bother arguing with him?"

Lin Yue shook his head, somewhat emotional.

"The key is that fellow even wrote letters cursing you, My Lord!" Xing Daorong said, feeling a little wronged.

Lin Yue shook his head: "He didn't write the letters to me. If he really wrote letters cursing me, the situation would be unfavorable to him; he's not that foolish."

"Then where did these letters come from?" Xing Daorong asked.

"The Great Qin Daily newspaper sent them to me, saying Chunyu Yue wanted to submit an article, to publish this piece in the Great Qin Daily," Lin Yue said, a hint of a smile on his lips.

Upon hearing this, the Generals' expressions all turned strange.

"I told them to accept the manuscript and then find an excuse to delay it. Doesn't he want to publish an article cursing me? Then let him wait and see who gets anxious first." Lin Yue smiled maliciously: "As long as I want, even on the day he sees his great-grandmother, no one will see this article."

Many of the shrewd people at the newspaper office were employees with "editor" titles who had no hope of promotion or had completely given up, taking advantage of their free time to work part-time in the game to earn extra money. This "delay" tactic was a hereditary skill, played with utmost proficiency. Lin Yue felt there would be no problem delaying him for a year or two.

After all, this matter wasn't a big deal in the end, and moreover, there were some major issues that were delayed for decades. Lin Yue trusted their professional ethics.

Besides, not many people supported him in this matter, and as time passed, it would naturally be forgotten by everyone.

Lin Yue stood up, leaning on the armrest: "It's getting late, I should go to the palace for duty. You all should go rest too."

Then he patted Xing Daorong's shoulder and said earnestly:

"A Rong, I don't object to your daily interactions with people in the Zhongwei Army, but don't always go to the Yanlai Brothel with them. Is that a place for decent people to go?

Besides, you're newly married; how am I going to explain this to Xia Lian?"

Xing Daorong's face instantly flushed. He was about to open his mouth to argue when he suddenly saw Pan Feng staring fiercely at him, so he reluctantly closed his mouth.

Then Lin Yue patted his shoulder and left for duty in the palace with Zhao Yun, Yang Dengshan, and Aruhan.

The men led the Cavalrymen into the palace to change shifts, and everything was peaceful until the afternoon.

Just as Lin Yue was lamenting the peaceful times, Li Xin rushed towards the main hall.

"Lin Yue greets the Marquis of Longxi!" Lin Yue stepped forward and bowed.

Li Xin skipped the pleasantries and went straight to the point: "Report to His Majesty, say Li Xin requests an audience."

Lin Yue nodded, turned, and stepped into the main hall.

"Reporting to Your Majesty, the Marquis of Longxi, Li Xin, requests an audience."

"Let him in."

"Yes!" Lin Yue responded. He was about to turn around when The First Emperor called out: "You stay, let Han Cheng go."

"Yes!" the two responded.

"Here is a memorial, you can read it first," The First Emperor said.

Lin Yue opened the memorial and read it carefully. It was nothing more than some governance plans for Jiuyuan Commandery. Lin Yue was familiar with that area and quickly formulated a draft in his mind.

"Your subject Li Xin, greets Your Majesty!" Li Xin bowed.

"No need for formalities, why have you come, Minister?"

Li Xin said in a deep voice: "Your Majesty, Tu Sui led the Army in a counterattack and utterly defeated a million-strong Southern Yue allied Army in the Wuling Mountain area! Over three million Baiyue Soldiers were beheaded, and now he is leading the Army in pursuit, encountering the enemy again by the Great River, and they are currently engaged in battle!"

A great victory!

This was Lin Yue's first thought!

"The Baiyue tribe?" The First Emperor said in a deep voice: "Buried alive?"

"Yes," Li Xin replied, steeling himself.

"Tell Tu Sui to proceed steadily and not fall into an ambush. I await the good news of his great victory!"

"Yes!" Li Xin bowed and accepted the order.

After Li Xin withdrew from the main hall, The First Emperor glanced at Lin Yue and said, "This is all the good atmosphere you've fostered. You may withdraw."

"Yes!" Lin Yue, utterly bewildered and confused, retreated out of the hall.

At the same time, he thought, how could this be blamed on him?

Moreover, if one were to talk about atmosphere, it was brought about by the Human Butcher, Bai Qi; who was he to be compared?

He then reluctantly withdrew, feeling a little regretful about the draft he had already prepared for the memorial.

But the moment he walked out of the main hall, he suddenly had a flash of inspiration!

He then walked over to Yang Dengshan: "Dengshan, go to the newspaper office now and tell Baixiao Sheng that the first counterattack in Lingnan was victorious, and three million Baiyue Soldiers were buried alive. Say nothing else."

Yang Dengshan nodded and then walked towards Zhangtai Gate.
