208: Explore each other

"Yang Dengshan, come here," Lin Yue said softly.

Yang Dengshan rode his horse to Lin Yue's side and responded, "This humble general is here. What are your orders, Colonel?"

"I'm short-handed and need to find General She Jian's whereabouts and report the intelligence from here to him!

I'm quite fond of you for this role.

But the dangers involved are self-evident.

Your father, Colonel Yang Shao, has already sacrificed his life for the country. If you have any concerns, I can find someone else. I understand you," Lin Yue said in a voice only they two could hear.

The vast grasslands have a largely similar landscape, making it easy to get lost, and various Xiongnu people tribes are distributed along the way. A slight mistake could lead to being ambushed and killed!

Therefore, this journey is extremely dangerous. Lin Yue thought it over and over, and only Yang Dengshan from the Guard Battalion was the most suitable.

The other generals are all commanders of their own units and cannot be spared. Yang Dengshan is not a main general, and he also has the cultivation of a High-level Military General. If he can't defeat the Xiongnu people he encounters along the way, he can at least escape, making him the most suitable choice!

"This humble general will do his utmost to complete the mission!" Yang Dengshan responded loudly without the slightest hesitation!

This was the first mission Lin Yue had given him. Although somewhat dangerous, if successful, it would further prove his merit!

"Alright, this team of men, I allow you to select freely from the Guard Battalion. Be quick about it," Lin Yue said, patting his shoulder.

"Understood!" Yang Dengshan bowed his hands and ran to the rear alone.

Looking at Yang Dengshan's retreating figure, Lin Yue sighed.

The Army, carrying captives and wounded Soldiers, moved much slower than before. It took the Army more than half a month to reach King Baiyang's Encampment previously; now, returning might take a full month.

Their exposure is now only a matter of time, and countless Xiongnu people will come to attack during this period. If it were the White Horse Righteous Cavalry from before, Lin Yue wouldn't be worried at all, and would even be full of fighting spirit. But now, with captives and many wounded Soldiers among the White Horse Righteous Cavalry, Lin Yue felt a bit lacking in confidence.

Therefore, Yang Dengshan urgently needed to return and deliver the message, asking She Jian to send people to meet them. Otherwise, relying solely on themselves to return to Great Qin would be no less difficult than the ninety-nine-eighty-one trials of the Journey to the West!

"My lord, scouts have discovered traces of Xiongnu Cavalry!" Xing Daorong suddenly reported.

"Where are they, and how many?" Lin Yue asked, his brows tightly furrowed.

He hadn't expected them to arrive so quickly!

"They are in the front right, about a thousand strong!" Xing Daorong said.

"Are there more Cavalry behind them?" Lin Yue asked.

"The scouts haven't found any yet, and This humble general cannot be certain," Xing Daorong shook his head.

Lin Yue then said directly, "A Rong, take your troops and follow me to kill them!"

"Understood!" Xing Daorong responded, picking up his great axe and calling the brothers of the White Horse Camp behind him to battle.

"San Dao, the Army will not stop; continue marching as planned. You will temporarily assume the role of commander-in-chief," Lin Yue said, gripping his Miao Blade and charging out!

The Army cannot stop!

Lin Yue and his men ran for ten li in one breath, and from a distance, they spotted the Xiongnu Cavalry, who, however, didn't seem to have noticed them yet.

"A Rong, go around them! Not a single one can be allowed to escape!" Lin Yue said in a deep voice!

If even one person escaped, more and more Xiongnu Cavalry would come to pursue them!

"Understood!" Xing Daorong responded!

Lin Yue watched Pan Feng and Li Mu lead the White Horse Camp Soldiers, circling around to the left and right respectively, until the communication token indicated that they had formed a encirclement.

Lin Yue shouted, "Attack!"

And charged forward with the White Horse Righteous Cavalry!

"Whoosh!"

The leading Xiongnu Cavalry fell to the ground in response.

"Enemy attack!"

"There are enemies!"

The Xiongnu Cavalry immediately fell into disarray. Upon spotting Lin Yue, they all drew their bows and retaliated!

After one arrow, Lin Yue fired the next without any pause!

With Lin Yue's now proficient archery skills, another person predictably fell from his horse.

Both sides began to shoot at each other. Although the Xiongnu people were more skilled in archery, their range was inferior to the Qin bows held by the White Horse Righteous Cavalry, so the White Horse Righteous Cavalry suffered no damage!

Lin Yue noticed a few Xiongnu Cavalry quietly retreating, feeling a bit anxious. But not long after, those few riders ran back, looking disheveled!

Xing Daorong had already circled to the rear of the Xiongnu people, and the White Horse Righteous Cavalry had formed a encirclement!

"Follow me to kill the enemy!" Lin Yue shouted upon seeing this opportunity, drawing his Miao Blade and charging forward!

"Understood!" the White Horse Righteous Cavalry responded!

Surrounded on all sides, the Xiongnu Cavalry had become trapped like turtles in a jar.

After an intense battle, Xing Daorong said, "My lord, not a single one escaped; they are all here."

"Mm," Lin Yue wiped his Miao Blade, then grabbed a Xiongnu people and asked in Xiongnu people language:

"Which tribe are you from? What are you doing here?"

The Xiongnu Cavalry said in terror:

"Don't kill me, I'll tell you! We are from the An'ang tribe. Our Commandant sent us here to investigate the situation."

"Investigate what situation?" Lin Yue pressed the blade against the Xiongnu people's neck and asked sternly.

"Last night, a subordinate of King Baiyang ran to our tribe and said that King Baiyang's Encampment was attacked, asking us to send troops to help.

So our Commandant sent us to investigate the situation," the Xiongnu people Soldier replied truthfully, not daring to conceal anything.

"Investigate the situation? You're not lying to me?" Lin Yue asked, narrowing his eyes.

"No, really not!" the Xiongnu people Soldier shook his head in a panic.

It seems that the Commandant also found the attack on King Baiyang somewhat outlandish, and even if someone escaped to him, he wasn't entirely convinced, Lin Yue mused to himself.

"That's good, thank you!" Lin Yue smiled.

Congratulations to the player for slaying a High-level Soldier of an alien race, rewarding the player with 50 points of merit!

After wiping his Miao Blade again, Lin Yue said in a deep voice:

"A Rong, increase the number of scouts and the search range, and the Army will speed up its march."

"Understood!" Xing Daorong responded!

Lin Yue then spurred his warhorse, accelerating his speed.

Although that Commandant did not believe the news of King Baiyang's attack at this moment, there is no impenetrable wall in the world, and this matter will surely spread throughout the grasslands before long!

By then, the White Horse Righteous Cavalry will be surrounded by enemies and in a difficult situation, so they must speed up now!

Time is running out for them!
