39: Exchange equipment

“Alright, I’ll trouble you, Brother Chen.” Lin Yue thought for a moment and then agreed. The two of them were temporarily on the same boat, and him going along would make things more convenient for himself.

“No trouble at all, please follow me.” Chen Dubao, Commandant said with a smile, and the group walked towards the main gate.

“Lord, This humble general will not see you off.” Fan Changling, City Lord stopped at the main gate.

Now that the three of them were gathered, if seen by others, there might be some gossip. If there was nothing, then so be it.

But now that the three of them really had something going on, it was better to avoid it.

“Alright, Brother Fan, please return.” Lin Yue nodded, indicating his understanding.

“Good.” Everyone bid farewell.

Pan Feng had been waiting at the gate and went to meet Lin Yue as soon as he saw him come out.

“Who is this?” Chen Dubao, Commandant asked, looking at the two approaching him.

“This is General Pan, serving in the Great Wall Legion.” Lin Yue introduced with a smile.

“Hmm?”

“Hmm?”

Chen Dubao, Commandant and Pan Feng were both stunned!

Great Wall Legion! General! These two words, combined with the unfathomable strength of the burly man in front of him, immediately made Chen Dubao, Commandant believe most of it!

“Chen Dubao, Commandant, Military Marquis of Heyecheng’s garrison, greets General Pan!” Chen Dubao, Commandant cupped his hands!

Pan Feng, on the other hand, was somewhat shocked and a little bewildered for a moment. How did he become a General of the Great Wall Legion?

But he still calmly replied, “Hmm.”

He thought to himself that the more he said now, the more mistakes he would make; the less he said, the fewer mistakes. Since his Lord said it, there must be a reason.

“General, why didn’t you enter the mansion? It is This humble general’s fault to let you wait outside!” Chen Dubao, Commandant asked.

“Hmm… Do I need to explain my actions to you?” Pan Feng asked, and an aura of a superior naturally emanated from him, making Chen Dubao, Commandant feel pressure!

There was no mistake, he must be a General. Lin Yue did not lie to him!

“This humble general would not dare!” Chen Dubao, Commandant quickly bowed to apologize!

“Military Marquis Chen, General Pan has grown up by the Great General’s side since childhood, so he is a bit strict and dislikes disturbing others.” Jiang Gan, seeing this, quickly smoothed things over.

He had already become a shrewd person and immediately understood why his Lord had said that.

Boasting, who wouldn't boast! The bigger the boast, the better!

After his Lord boasted, if he boasted less, others wouldn't believe it!

Chen Dubao, Commandant, on the other hand, was drenched in cold sweat. Growing up by General Meng's side since childhood, this was a true personal guard!

“Military Marquis Chen, let’s go to the Military Camp.”

“Alright, alright, alright, it was This humble general who was rash.” Chen Dubao, Commandant quickly said.

Subsequently, the group walked towards the Military Camp, while Jiang Gan remained in the Lord’s Mansion.

Lin Yue took this opportunity to check his attribute panel.

In addition, he also had 53581 merit points, 320 taels of silver, and 10 taels of gold.

It should be enough to equip a unit!

Soon, the group arrived at the Military Camp. Chen Dubao, Commandant ordered his Subordinate to bring a booklet and handed it to Lin Yue.

“Lord, these are the items that can be exchanged in the Military Camp. Please take a look.”

“Thank you.” Lin Yue said with a smile, then flipped through it.

Common armor: 100 merit points, excellent armor: 500 merit points.

Common Qin Crossbow: 100 merit points, excellent Qin Crossbow: 200 merit points.

Common Qin Bow: 100 merit points, excellent Qin Bow: 200 merit points.

Crossbow bolts: 1 merit point, arrows: 1 merit point.

Common long saber: 20 merit points, excellent long saber: 30 merit points.

Common long spear: 20 merit points, excellent long spear: 30 merit points.

Common warhorse: 500 merit points, excellent warhorse: 1000 merit points.

Blueprint for Basic Infantry Camp Construction: 10000 merit points.

Blueprint for Intermediate Infantry Camp Construction: 20000 merit points.

Blueprint for Cavalry Camp Construction: 100000 merit points.

The booklet contained many common military equipment. Warhorses, armor, and Qin Crossbows were generally more expensive than ordinary weapons, but also more practical.

Relatively speaking, the purchasing power of merit points was also quite strong. A basic Soldier was 10 merit points, an intermediate Soldier 20 merit points, and an advanced Soldier 100 merit points. On average, the merit points gained from killing five advanced Soldiers could buy an excellent quality armor, which was not too expensive.

There was another reason: armor and bows and crossbows could only be manufactured by the Great Qin Government. Private manufacturing was a serious crime!

Therefore, they were a bit more expensive than weapons like long spears.

“Lord, there aren't many equipment options in Heyecheng. If you want more advanced equipment, you can go to Xiangping Commandery City, where there are more high-level items.” Chen Dubao, Commandant said.

“It’s fine, I don’t need them for myself. I’m choosing some equipment for the villagers.” Lin Yue explained with a smile.

“Then these are enough. Also, I recommend you purchase an Intermediate Infantry Camp Construction Blueprint, it’s quite cost-effective.”

Lin Yue pondered for a moment, then said:

“Military Marquis, I want 10 sets of excellent quality armor, 100 sets of common quality armor, plus 100 common Qin Crossbows, plus 3000 crossbow bolts, and finally 10 common warhorses.”

Compared to the Qin Bow, although the Qin Crossbow was slower to reload, it had a longer range, was simple to use, and easy to pick up, making it clearly more suitable for villagers.

As for common weapons like long sabers and long spears, the village blacksmith could forge them, so there was no need to spend merit points to buy them.

He only bought ten warhorses because they were too expensive, and cavalry, if not properly organized, would be difficult to utilize effectively. Therefore, he planned to equip Wang Hu and a few others with these warhorses. As for the others, they could only ride some inferior horses not suitable for war.

And the cavalry could only be developed slowly later.

“Finally, I need a Basic Infantry Camp Construction Blueprint.” Lin Yue added.

The Basic Infantry Camp could accelerate the cultivation speed of basic Soldiers, allowing them to break through to intermediate Soldiers.

In addition, basic Soldiers could learn combat techniques here to form organized armies. Under the same realm and numbers, an organized unit had far greater combat power than an unorganized unit.

Combined with the militia camp in the village, it could form a systematic Soldier upgrade path, from militia to basic Soldiers to intermediate Soldiers!

“Alright, I’ll have the Record Keeper handle the handover with you.” Chen Dubao, Commandant then called for the Record Keeper.

“Lord, a total of 50500 merit points. You have 3081 merit points remaining.” The current Record Keeper was a man in his thirties, meticulously calculating the bill.

“The weapons can be taken today. Also, there are some damaged and unusable armor and weapons in the warehouse. Military Marquis said he would like to ask you to take them all, to save space.” The Record Keeper said with a smile.

“Thank you.” Lin Yue glanced at him, thinking that if it were Feng Cai, such a thing would never be allowed to happen.

But since he was the one benefiting, there was no need to say anything.

“Then send someone to Houjia Village, thirty li west of the city.”

“Yes.” The Record Keeper replied.

Soon after, Jiang Gan also returned and brought Lin Yue good news.

“My Lord, This humble general has not failed in his mission!”

“Tell me in detail.” Lin Yue was a bit surprised at how quickly Jiang Gan had returned.

“My Lord, after you left, This humble general had a very pleasant conversation with Fan Changling, City Lord and received a total of ten various class change scrolls. I also made arrangements with the major grain merchants in the city and purchased a total of 8000 shi of grain for 200 taels of silver, which is enough to sustain the Mountain Bandits in the camp for about half a year!” Jiang Gan said.

“Good, I truly didn’t misjudge you!” Lin Yue was a little surprised and immediately praised him.

Class change scrolls were expensive, and receiving ten of them would save a lot of money.

He used to feel like he had a lot of money, but now with so many Subordinates, he was feeling a bit stretched.

“Alright, Pan Feng, when we return, you will lead troops to transport this grain to the camp. You personally escort this grain back to the Mountain Bandit camp.” Lin Yue said. The Mountain Bandit camp was almost out of food, and with this grain, the Mountain Bandits could last another half a year.

“Understood!” Pan Feng responded.

Subsequently, Pan Feng returned to the village to gather men and escort the grain, while Jiang Gan remained in Heyecheng to make connections with prominent figures. This was something the two of them had discussed beforehand.

So Lin Yue had to return to the Mountain Bandit camp alone.
