56: Capture the enemy chief alive

"Kill!"

The Qin Army charged first!

The Golden Fire Cavalry, truly the elite of the elite, plunged into the enemy formation like hungry tigers descending a mountain!

The Xiongnu Cavalry, eyes red, met them, but facing the perfectly calm Golden Fire Cavalry, they were instantly scattered!

This scene filled Lin Yue's heart with fervor; this was the Great Qin's premier cavalry!

Even the White Horse Righteous Cavalry paled in comparison!

He just wondered if the White Horse Righteous Cavalry at their peak could contend with them!

"The Golden Fire Cavalry is the strongest cavalry in Great Qin. Even when His Majesty travels, a portion of the Golden Fire Cavalry guards him. How could these Xiongnu Cavalry compare?" Colonel Gong Lin, seeing Lin Yue's thoughts, said with a touch of arrogance.

The Golden Fire Cavalry broke through a gap, but it was quickly sealed by the Xiongnu Cavalry. With too few reinforcements, they had no choice but to fight and retreat.

These short few steps were not enough for a full-speed charge!

"Stop looking, help me onto my horse," Colonel Gong Lin said.

As he spoke, a thunderous roar came from afar!

"Reinforcements are here!" both said in unison!

"My Lord! I'm here!"

Another brave general charged in. Lin Yue recognized the voice: it was Xing Daorong!

"A Rong!"

"My Lord!"

Xing Daorong quickly rode to Lin Yue's side:

"My Lord, Lao Pan has captured that fellow.

Captain Chen is here, Lao Pan went to meet him and told me to come protect you," Xing Daorong said with a smile.

"Good, A Rong, you did well!" Lin Yue said, smiling. With Xing Daorong, their situation would undoubtedly improve greatly!

"Hehe, it's all what I should do," Xing Daorong said, hearing his Lord's praise for the first time, feeling a bit flustered and chuckling.

"Lin Yue, help me onto my horse!" Colonel Gong Lin suddenly shouted!

"Captain, Captain Chen will be here soon!" Lin Yue advised, somewhat perplexed.

"Hmph, I am the commanding officer, listen to me!" Colonel Gong Lin insisted on getting on his horse, refusing to compromise.

Lin Yue had no choice but to help him up, thinking to himself: he doesn't want to lose face in front of outsiders, truly a Great Qin soldier who is strong his whole life!

"Give me the Xiongnu King. You take the remaining three children!" Colonel Gong Lin said again.

Lin Yue could only follow orders, lifting the Xiongnu King, secretly tapping the back of his head to prevent him from suddenly attacking on horseback, then tossing him onto Colonel Gong Lin's horse.

After completing all of this, he turned around and found only three children left!

In the blink of an eye, the Xiongnu Queen was gone!

Then he heard a delicate shout, and Lin Yue quickly looked, discovering the Queen was on Xing Daorong's horse!

Xing Daorong, seeing his Lord looking at him, scratched his head and said somewhat awkwardly, "My Lord, this one is heavy, I was afraid you'd get tired..."

Unfortunately, his voice grew softer and softer, and by the end, he himself felt a lack of confidence.

This scene made Colonel Gong Lin chuckle.

"Forget it, keep an eye on her." Lin Yue was too tired to complain, handing two children to Colonel Gong Lin's two personal guards and placing the last child in front of his own horse.

Then the five of them lined up side-by-side, protecting Colonel Gong Lin in the middle.

"My lads, charge!"

The five, leading a hundred or so personal guards, joined the battle, assisting the Golden Fire Cavalry!

Blood and flesh splattered all the way, carving out a bloody path!

Lin Yue, however, was struggling a bit, constantly needing to watch Colonel Gong Lin's situation on his right to ensure his safety.

Meanwhile, Xing Daorong on the left seemed to be strolling leisurely, wielding his axe with one hand, his other hand resting on the back of his horse, on the Queen's body.

After a bloody battle, everyone finally led the personal guards to break through the encirclement.

Looking back, the Golden Fire Cavalry had dwindled by one-third, while the White Horse Righteous Cavalry had lost about half their numbers, suffering heavy casualties.

"Captain! I'm here!" an excited shout came from afar!

"Erniu, why the hell are you so late?" Colonel Gong Lin shouted!

"I rushed over as soon as I got the news.

I heard you were surrounded, Captain, and I was so anxious!" Chen Erniu said.

"Who told you that? That's a rumor! A rumor!" Colonel Gong Lin retorted angrily, directly refuting it.

What a joke, how could he continue to lead if that got out!

"Is it a rumor? Alright." Chen Erniu, well aware of his superior's personality, furtively glanced at Colonel Gong Lin with a look of suspicion.

Colonel Gong Lin felt a bit uncomfortable under his gaze but couldn't refute him, so he could only ask, "Where are the others?"

"This humble general just received news that Captain Zhang Kai also attacked the enemy camp and is currently fighting the enemy.

However, the Liaodong Garrison in the middle has not arrived yet, and we don't know what happened temporarily," Chen Erniu reported in detail.

"What is Li Rupo doing?" Colonel Gong Lin muttered to himself, unable to figure out his actions.

Lin Yue was equally puzzled. Being late was a serious offense. General Li Guang's repeated delays led to the tragedy of him never being fully rewarded.

Li Rupo was already at odds with the Great Wall Legion and was the main force for the night raid. How could he be late and hand such a major handle to them?

"Captain, who is this?" Chen Erniu asked, staring at the man on the horse's back, interrupting everyone's thoughts.

"Hahahaha!" Colonel Gong Lin suddenly burst into laughter. This blockhead finally noticed!

"This is the enemy chieftain, the Xiongnu King, whom Captain Gong captured alive amidst ten thousand troops!" Lin Yue quickly answered Chen Erniu.

Having others say something like this versus saying it oneself has a completely different effect!

Colonel Gong Lin's laughter abruptly stopped when he heard what Lin Yue said, while Chen Erniu's mouth hung open, somewhat dumbfounded. Many soldiers behind them were equally bewildered.

"Captain, are you that amazing?" Chen Erniu asked, incredulously.

"Get lost! If I wasn't amazing, could I be your Captain?

Go quickly and kill the enemy, don't bother me!" Colonel Gong Lin cursed with a laugh, proudly patting the Xiongnu King's head, feeling it was a bit heavy, and then rubbing it again.

This was a treasure, so he had to be gentle.

Capturing an enemy chieftain alive amidst ten thousand troops, how incredible I am!

"Understood! This Subordinate will go now!" Chen Erniu quickly withdrew, fearing he might anger him.

"Captain Chen, when you engage the Xiongnu Cavalry later, you can loudly announce the news of the Xiongnu King's capture. This way, you will encounter less resistance," Lin Yue said to Chen Erniu.

"Right! You say exactly that!" Colonel Gong Lin's face lit up with joy, yet he glared at Chen Erniu as he spoke.

"Understood." Chen Erniu nodded, not daring to look Colonel Gong Lin directly in the eyes. The Captain's gaze put him under great pressure, so he quickly retreated.

"You all worked hard, accompanying me to capture the enemy chieftain amidst ten thousand troops," Colonel Gong Lin turned and said softly to his personal guards.

"Following the Captain, we would rather die than regret!" they all shouted in unison.

They weren't fools; they understood that saying this would instantly elevate their prestige!

Encountering an enemy chieftain in battle and capturing an enemy chieftain alive amidst ten thousand troops were two completely different concepts! The merits they would receive would also be greater!

So their voices grew louder and louder!

Colonel Gong Lin was clearly very satisfied with everyone's reaction and turned to Lin Yue, smiling:

"You are very good!"

Lin Yue, faced with this sudden praise, was momentarily stunned, and could only laugh deeply, "It's all what this Subordinate should do."
