14: Chapter 14 An eye for an eye

The three surviving Shu People saw their clanswoman, Wei, kowtowing uncontrollably.

After hesitating for a moment, they finally realized they had committed a grave catastrophe. Despite being severely injured, they struggled to kneel down and shouted with utmost piety: "We had no intention of offending the deity. We beg the Sun God to forgive our stupidity!"

"We beg the Sun God for mercy." Wei, prostrate on the ground with tears in her eyes, pressed her fair forehead against Chu Xingyang's shoes.

"Just call me Xingyang." Chu Xingyang pulled his foot away from her forehead and slowly walked toward a flat boulder.

The chieftain of the Goblin immediately led a few clansmen to the rock, their hands quickly dusting off the dirt on its surface.

They knew full well that if it weren't for this deity's intervention, their entire species would have been wiped out by that vicious old woman just now.

At this moment, besides reverence, their hearts were filled with endless gratitude.

Chu Xingyang sat on the clean rock, looking indifferently at Wei, his gaze still filled with undiminished majesty: "Go tend to their wounds first."

The Shu People, feeling as though they had survived a catastrophe, saw their solemn expressions turn to gratitude.

The four of them shouted in unison: "We kowtow and thank Xingyang God for sparing our lives!"

During the interval while they were treating their wounds, Chu Xingyang asked: "Do you live in the center of this continent, near that spring?"

"Yes, reporting to Xingyang God. That is the birthplace of us Shu People. But our clan has grown to nearly ten thousand people, so..." The man who answered glanced at the priest's corpse on the ground and continued: "Therefore, only young people with high potential are arranged by Spirit Abyss to live near the spring."

"And the priest, who is also our chieftain throughout the generations, resides in the fortress above the spring. As for the other clansmen who live far away from the spring, they cannot control elements at all and do not possess any magic."

"So the spring gave you Shu People the power to control elements, yet you use it to exterminate the Goblin!" Chu Xingyang frowned. He knew that killing and slaughter were inevitable stains in human history.

He should have been more open-minded about it. But the problem was that all eighteen races on this planet were created by him.

So if one race wants to make another race disappear completely, they must at least get his permission first!

The Shu People were now trembling like chaff in the wind, their faces ashen.

One of the men gathered his courage and replied: "That was the previous priest, who was Spirit Abyss's master. She was also the only one among the past chieftains who knew divination. She prophesied that the Goblin would bring disaster upon us, so we struck first. For decades, we have been putting medicine in the stream water that the Goblin drink..."

The Goblin's chieftain, standing nearby, could no longer contain himself. He hopped on his short legs and cursed: "We saw humans other than ourselves for the first time, and we never harmed you! Yet, based on a single crazy word from that old witch, you made our women gradually disappear and made our men smaller and smaller!"

At one point five meters tall, he was already a giant among the Goblin. The Shu People were so ashamed by his scolding that they all wore looks of deep remorse.

Hundreds of Goblin, having heard the chieftain's words, were filled with righteous indignation. Everyone stared at the few Shu People in front of them with fiery eyes, wishing they could swallow them alive right then and there.

Fifteen or sixteen-year-old Wei was pale with fear. She dared not imagine what tragic fate would await her if she fell into the hands of these hundreds of Goblin who hadn't seen a woman in over a decade.

For a moment, she was even too scared to cry, her eyes widened with dilated pupils from terror. She trembled, and a large amount of liquid flowed from her lower body; she had clearly wet herself from fear.

Chu Xingyang looked at the wet stain on her crotch and couldn't help but feel a pang of pity; after all, no one would want to see a young girl being tormented in turns by hundreds of starving men.

He waved his hand: "The treatment is about done. You may go. After all, you are all humans I created, and I do not want you to die too painfully."

Wei, who had been dazed and silly from extreme fear, finally came to her senses after being nudged by her clansmen several times. She kowtowed hard to Chu Xingyang, kicking up dust, with a smear of blood flowing from her forehead: "Xingyang God, I and our Shu People will remember your great kindness for generations to come!"

After Chu Xingyang signaled them to leave again, the Shu People finally turned and left. The three who had been hit by stones could only support their bodies to barely walk, and Wei had to carry the archer, You. Thus, they could only leave the three female corpses behind.

Watching their enemies walk away, the chieftain of the Goblin was filled with a hundred levels of reluctance. But thinking that it was the deity's will, that the deity had let them go, he dared not defy it in any way.

After hesitating for a moment, he tentatively requested: "Great Deity Xingyang, may I send someone to follow them secretly? Our clan has no women and is on the verge of extinction. I want to know their location so that we can go there later to steal some women back."

He dared not hide even the slightest thought from the deity.

Chu Xingyang looked at the distant horizon, remaining silent. When will this cycle of vengeance end? But the Shu People were the ones who started it. The Goblin, having no women and wanting to avoid extinction, had already experimented on animals. For the past decade or more, they had lived every moment in the terror of imminent extinction.

Seeing that Xingyang God remained silent for a long time, the chieftain, unable to fathom the deity's thoughts, had to take a risk and signaled a Ge person beside him with his eyes.

That person cautiously glanced at Xingyang God, then walked a few steps in the direction the Shu People had left. Then, feeling guilty, he stopped and looked at the deity again. Finding that the deity had no intention of stopping him, he felt relieved and boldly walked forward to track the Shu People.

The chieftain's heart, which had been hanging in the balance, finally settled. The deity had not permitted his tracking behavior, but he hadn't stopped it either!

It seems that the future of his clan, the continuation of his race, had finally ushered in the dawn of Hope!

Once we find the habitat of the Shu People, we just need to steal some women from their remote areas, from among those Shu People who cannot use magic, and our Goblin will be saved.

The chieftain wept with joy, tears of happiness streaming down his face. He led his clansmen to kneel before the deity once more, chanting over and over: "Xingyang God is eternal!" "Xingyang God is eternal!"

...Chu Xingyang felt it was a bit noisy, so he reopened the Goblin's nest that he had personally sealed earlier.

The thick, foul stench inside, strong enough to suffocate a person, immediately rushed out. A cave where hundreds of men lived could probably not stay clean and fresh for long.

Chu Xingyang waved his hand: "I am leaving."

All the Goblin knelt on the ground in unison, and only when Xingyang God's figure had completely vanished from sight did they dare to lift their heads. Afterward, everyone began to gather around the three female corpses in front of the nest. The chieftain said indifferently: "Drag them back into the cave first."
