3: Chapter 3 Creating Life

"I want to have friends too, but Old Fourth is too far away from me. My outer orbit is just a large ring made of ice shards." The lonely planet voiced its request to its father.

But seeing the hesitation in his father's eyes, he understood that his wish as a planet to have a playmate was too extravagant.

So, he finally chose the next best thing: "Then, Dad, create life on me so that I won't be so lonely."

Only then did Chu Xingyang snap out of it. The reason he had been dazed just now was that he felt creating a binary star system for a planet would be too much trouble.

However, now that Old Fifth wanted him to create life, that seemed like an even more troublesome matter.

Just then, the system chimed.

[Stellar Name: Chu Xingyang]

[Ability: Gravity Manipulation]

[Skills: Planet Creation, Consciousness Projection, Elementary Life Creation]

This system might as well be called the Timely Rain System; every time, it provided help exactly when needed, like sending charcoal in the snow or adding flowers to a brocade.

Chu Xingyang researched the new skills in the system as he thought.

There were over a dozen major types of life that could be created, including Carbon-based Life, Silicon-based Life, and so on.

But it seemed that due to the current system's permissions, the other types were grayed out, and only the Carbon-based Life option was lit.

After clicking the carbon-based option, the dense directory that followed made Chu Xingyang's scalp tingle; he estimated there were at least tens of millions of species.

Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species—perhaps to make it easier for him as an Earthling to understand, the system had specifically chosen a classification method that humans on Earth could grasp.

But on such a harsh, icy planet like Old Fifth, could so many kinds of life really be created?

Chu Xingyang expressed doubt and then activated the skill, aiming it at the icy planet.

As expected, the directory under the Carbon-based Life option, which had been lit, instantly dimmed.

Even after adjusting the filter criteria, only three species belonging to the same genus remained, showing they could be created on Old Fifth.

However, Carbon-based Life was more resilient than imagined; he hadn't expected there to be species that could live in an environment of minus 180 degrees.

While marveling, Chu Xingyang gently waved his hand, scattering the three species onto the icy planet.

Three groups of "little bugs," varying in color but not much in shape and ranging from 0.1 mm to 3 mm in length, fell onto the ground.

The red ones began burrowing into the ice mantle as soon as they landed, disappearing in a short while.

The gray and white ones first moved quickly across the ice mantle layer until they reached the "ocean" that was completely frozen into ice, where they then began to dig holes.

"Thank you, Dad! I can already feel the activity of life on the planet. What are they called?" Old Fifth cried out happily.

Chu Xingyang looked at the long, foul-smelling, and tongue-twisting names in the directory and said helplessly, "They look a bit like big-headed tadpoles with legs. Let's just call them Ice Tadpoles."

"Thank you, Dad, for the tadpoles you scattered on me. Will they become intelligent beings in the future? Like... like humans?"

"No, it's too cold here to evolve intelligent beings—at least not carbon-based ones. Later, when I can create Silicon-based Life, we can try."

"Father, I feel that your ability to create life is simply tailor-made for me!" A new voice spoke, one that had never been heard before.

Chu Xingyang looked up; it was Old Third, whom he had created—the only planet in his sun's Habitable Zone.

"Great Father, I request that you create intelligent beings."
